Description:

GF Ambient Environment Winter Script , create your desired Environment.
You are free to do anything but i would like to give me Credits for this!
Simple and easy to use and adapt .

Installation / Usage:

For usage instructions and information of how to use the GF Ambient Environment Winter Script please refer to the included documentation and/or example mission.

Place in your mission the files . There is everything included , in the initServer.sqf , initPlayerlocal.sqf  and the Description.ext , to copy paste in your mission .

Don't try to open this with the simple notepad.

For everything that is with comment // in front or between /*
means that it is disabled , so there is no need to delete the extra lines.

You can open this ex:
with notepad++
https://notepad-plus-plus.org/

and also use the extra pluggins
(this way will be better , it will give also some certain colors to be able to detect ex. problems )

Notes:

Create your desired , Ambient Environment.
This is a compilation of scripts and it is also including ,
the GF Ambient Environment Winter Script.

 

The included Scripts are :

 

GF Breath Script
GF ColorCorrections Script
GF Fog Script
GF Weather Script
GF Ambient Environment Winter Script

 

The GF Ambient Environment Winter Script includes ,
a snow script and ambient sounds,
for animals , birds for day and night ,
man sounds , forest SFX , wind blowing sfx and weather sound according to forecast.
The available options can be edited in GF_AEW_init.sqf

 

It is also included a mod version , posible to unpack and edit.

Yap..tested on my Ghost Recon Winter campaign and it really add lots of ambiance.

This is exactly what I was talking about in your other weather script post! Great work as always George!!

 

Still waiting on your missions script! :drinking2:

 

One final suggestion! Can you unify all your scripts on a single folder like:

GF Scripts/GF_Winter

GF Scripts/GF_Fog

etc

etc

 

Because I use like 10 of your scripts and my mission folder is a mess and the folder names are too long! :drinking:

Also... sorry for being so bothersome, but check out how Alies does it:

 

He unifies his weather releases just like you did here but instead of having each script on a different folder he completely unifies them even to the point of making  a single file to edit/customize them all together. 

 

It is so much cleaner that way. I think that would be the cherry on top of your already amazing work!

If I may George, something strange happened....I was scuba diving in winter Altis and...damn..the fog followed me UNDERWATER!!!!

I did this in order to exclude anything that you might don't want , instead of just filling more MB space to the mission.

It is also easier to configure the options of each script instead of having 50 options maybe available.

Well , to be honest i  like it because it reminds me the shallow dirty waters , but i need to fix this !

Hey, is there any feedback regarding impact on performance? I ran a DRO dynamic mission on Vidda with this script yesterday. Lots of frame drops. But I dont think its the script, must have been something else i have to figure out...

The Fog probably will give less FPS but to be honest i can't really tell you !

I will do a test next week with about 15 players 

I will record it..

 

and monitor server fps..... player fps is not somthing i care about

Player fps IS something to care about.   I log off if my fps is low.  If the mission is laggy bye bye.

 

My question to GF is....

 

During this script initializing systemchat says normal color correction is disabled in top right corner.  Is this telling me the color correction is not running? If so why.

Player fps is up to your rig. If server fps is god your fps Will be god

Quick question:

If I wanted this winter weather scripts to happen only for a certain time and then have a calm time etc. what would be the best and optimal approach to achieve this?

 

I have dust storms happening every 300 + random 200 seconds and lasts 180 seconds, then I have thunder storms that happen every 400 + random 300 seconds and lasts 360 seconds then...

 

I want the snow storm to happen every 600 + random 500 seconds and last 300 seconds. All the scripts must activate for these 300 seconds and then sleep again until the time comes for the storm to appear again. 

 

This is what I use for the other weather effects on my init.sqf

Really love this script..been using it on Winter 2035 as well as Chernaurus Winter and Thirsk Winter...really adds to the ambience. I didnt notice a huge Framerate drop and I dont have a big rig.
