Ferret update

Recommended Posts

Hi.

At last I exported the model to Flashpoint.

The textures are basic tests....Making the shadows right is taking time...So far the only bit with properly finished shadows is the turret and the wheels. Those wheels were tricky to texture tounge.gif

I have been testing the colors and as you can see I´ll make a desert and a "plain" green skins among others  tounge.gif

Right now it´s just a empty object so I´ll start the cpp as I finish the textures.

It´s going to take a while to finish but....I feel like it´s worth all the effort smile.gif

that looks fantastic, well done. Thats the kind of unit which looks like it would be used for fortifying towns etc.

hell no!

that [the Ferret] is a fast, armoured scout unit - 1 hit from anything bigger than 30mm and it's history...

goes like S**t off a greasy shovel tho biggrin.gif

GREAT MODEL THO, very detailed, it's gonna be excellent once it's ingame

Is the scale right it looks a little small confused.gif

Is it lagging the game + this vehicle was used in WWII right?

looks great... even with those beta textures... but i think this model is quite easy to model - that doesnt mean you didnt invest a lot of work in it - but it has many flat faces and edges... so you can make a very good looking ferret with a (quite) low number of polys

Wow... I was waiting for an update on this one and I must say this is the quality of Maac and Marfy!

Hell, it looks promising! smile.gif

The graphics quality is really on a high level. When the sound is authentic and it's drivable like it looks, it's surely one of my favourites!

Remember back in my childhood i could take a close investigation to the same or similar car, as the british rhine army often exercised near where i live. So i assume this car isn't WW2 vintage.

Carry on with that great work!!

Regards

GM

Verry Nice!

The Ferret is/was a scout car in service with the UK right up to before the Gulf War, I believe. It was usually attatched to headquarters units rather than the proper recon sections. There was a version with a pair of Swingfire missiles attached to the turret, one either side, but given the problem of missiles and wheeled vehicles...

The number of polys is not the question.....It's knowing were to put them.

...I'm still trying to understand what you tried to tell me...Should I make a 14000 polys model just because it's supossed to be more dificult?...

I haven't seen many round scout cars mate...

If you want to see how easy it is look at the interior...this is not the last stage of it and it's untextured but...you can make yourself an idea....

Nope, scale is right, we've got one of those rusting away outside our local Army Disposal store.

I should get a pic standing next to it... smile.gif

Nice model, more Brit units would be kewl...

True. The scale is spot on. I remember that trip to Duxford I made with Oberon (a couple of months ago?). Nice collection of Ferrets over there smile.gif

I've actually sat in one. there was loads of space in both driver and command positions.

Mind you, I was 11 years old at the time. biggrin.gif
