Depends. There are many computers that can push far more polygons than resistance can throw at them. Computers that are 2ghz on up with Anything above at GeForce 4 Ti4400 can push a hell of a lot of polys. BIS designed this game for mainstream though so that the majority could play. Most people still use a mainstream or lower computer. However, games such as UT2k3 and even Doom3 have options that take full power of the latest and greatest hardware. They do this through scalibility. Then again, consumers still can't play UT2k3 with everything on untill the next gen cards come out.

Not true. Resistance can't run smoothly with all settings at max on today's computers. The game looks a little ugly if you don't have some things at max. I rather have uglier models than uglier terrain and trees. The biggest problem at the moment is the harware. I saw some great models on VBS screenshots. I don't know if those were developed by BIS or Coalescent technologies, either way, you can see from that military has better hardware than we have.

Not exactly. VBS1 was designed so that it could run on a laptop. Not Cray supercomputers. If you look at it's specs you can see that it runs on Pentium® stand-alone or networked PCs. Not cray supercomputers.

What kind of specs do you have? You can max out everything on Resistance and get some silky smooth frame rates with a P4 2.53Ghz (533mhz bus) with 512mb of PC1066 RDRAM, and a GeForce 4 Ti4600 no problem.

Are you sure about that? Because I'm pretty sure that's a big stretch... maybe 15fps... confused.gif

the new VBS website took info down on required sys spec, but from my memory, PCs that run VBS had to have minimum requirement of

P4 1Mhz

back on topic.

i played a bit more of RS and find that Red Storm Craptainment actually somewhat knows about no weapons bug. in the readme file, they put it under one of well known issues and asks you to reconnect to server if that happens. how convenient.

one of the things i noticed is that your empty helmet is suspended in the air when that happens. i'm guessing transition from death to life is not easy biggrin.gif

so hopfully they get it fixed before full version is out.

also, i've been experiencing a good number of mouse lock bug. i.e. my mouse will not respond. so i'm basically capable of moving back/foward/left/right using WASD only. can't crouch either.

Ok here´s my second report. I ´ve been playing online tonight for 4 hours i guess. I found out that claymores and such are also in game...shame on me.

We played a mixed bunch of guys and some guys formed up teamplay. That was cool. If you play this game serious it can be fun smile.gif

Nethertheless I dont believe the tension will hold up that long than OFP does. The maps are simply to small and freedom is missing a lot. Imagine 20 or 30 of these maps, contained in demo. It will get boring pretty soon. But if you play with handsigns and teargas and all that stuff it makes fun. It is fun when an enemy comes out of the room where you just threw a teargas grenade in. Hehe heavy coughing and perfect cannonfodder. Will be fun...but I doubt that long.

Not Everyone can afford a monster like that...

I run:

P4 1.3 Ghz

512 RDRAM

Geforce 3 Ti500

@ 1280x960

Runs great in MP and SP....

I can do 1600x1200 but it gets jumpy with lots on screen.

Im saving up to do an overhaul though...

Yes I know what you are talking about... smile.gif not that I camp but: the maps have no real objectives, it's not like actual SWAT operation where there is time to plan and clear areas in proper order. So with maps where there is 20 ways to get across and for someone to surround you, a real life SWAT team would mostly camp and prepare watching all angles... why would they go anywhere if the enemy will be there in 2 minutes or less? Why stick your ass out especially if your entire team runs of in different directions. biggrin.gif

Everywhere you go someone could be behind you in this kind of map and opposition, so camping is a normal thing to do, but not good for everyones enjoyment.

I'm waiting for the full release, coop, and bright colorful maps without the bugs and 20,000 ways to get surrounded.

I have Athlon XP 2200+, GF4 ti 4600, 1gb of RDRAM. Yes, i can max out everything, but from time to time i have to reduce frame rate or visual quality, especially on the northern part of Nogova. Those smedges really need a powerful graphic card. Sometimes Resistance can completley eat my memory (That's because of the textures, 2048x2048). Even if we would have more detailed models, we would have to reduce view distance, visual quality or frame rate, and that's something i don't wanna do.

Yep, and not just that. Gameplay sucks. You can even move close enough to the objects.

And to think people say OFP demo was buggy. mad.gif

RvS demo looks, plays and sounds great. The only thing missing is a half-decent ballistics model. You still cant seem to shoot through any 'soft' materials.

That was the great thing about Swat 3 - taking cover behind a corner of a wall only to find a suspects gunfire ripping right through. It made you feel very vunerable unlike many games nowadays that let you hide behind a cardboard box with complete safety. I would rather spend CPU time on those calculations than throwing around more shiny pixels.

Anyway, thumbs up to UBI and welcome back for producing a half decent looking close quarters combat game instead of trying to poorly imitate OFP with GR.

Are you able to run at Highest terrain detail? If so what is your OFPR benchmark? smile.gif

And to whoever wondered if UBI developed RvS, nope, Redstorm Craptertainment does all the development. tounge.gif

Boy, if there was no BIS I would give Craptertainment a tongue lashing in February for not improving the game enough, but with OFPR around I won't be so disappointed. smile.gif

They didn't really add any features people were asking for the most, including our old R6 team. I feel some swear words coming on so I'll stop here... wow.gif

I can run Resistance at High terrain detail. My OFPR benchmars is 6575.

I doubt you can max EVERYTHING out even your PC would come to a grinding halt if you did.

Can anybody help me out.

I havent changed a single setting, made an account ( actualy, made 3 sofar ) but i always get an error "unable to log in to ubi.com" when i want to login in the mp menu of raven shield.

I went to ubi.com and logged in on the site and that works perfect.

I haven t played a single second online, it drivin me nuts here.

I also reinstalled demo, and made 3 other accounts. nothing.

I have cable, no firewall, and all my other games work perfect online.

I ve searched all the faq etc at Redstorm AND ubi. Nothing to find. Idea's are very very welcome.

Jap, are you using Internet Connection Sharing or similar?

Anyway, click to create a new account in RvS,

when the web browser shows up with the form alt-tab tab back to RvS

keep trying to sign in with your last account and password (don't re-type just click).

Try it for about 3 minutes, if you still can't sign in try the whole procedure once more... then if you can't sign in I have no idea what the problem is. smile.gif
