read all about it there ^^^^

for the lazy ones, here is a snippet ( but there are screenshots too there, you should see them.)

Just wanted to let you know that Operation Flashpoint: Resistance from Bohemia Interactive Studio and Codemasters is Surround Gaming ready, bringing the total list of titles with Surround Gaming support to a whopping 32! Operation Flashpoint: Resistance is the expansion to the hit game Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. With complex AI, detailed environments, controllable vehicles and accurate weapon simulation, Flashpoint is the most complex war game experience to date. With Surround Gaming on Parhelia, the player gains true peripheral vision, allowing better tactical decision making and greater reaction to flanking enemies. It raises the playing experience to even greater heights.

This is currently only for the expansion pack ' Operation Flashpoint :Resistance' and will have no effect on the original 'Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis' . However, the original 'Cold War Crisis' missions are playable through the 'resistance' executable. For more information and screenshots, click the link below:

quite interresting....

Nice, you just need a $400 video card and additional 2 monitors, preferrably the same size as your current one. In my case, buying additional two 21" monitors and a $400 video card would ring up over a grand, and that's just a little too much sad.gif

Unless BIS buys it for me for play-testing.

From the looks of it you don't get an increase of field of vision, the image is just stretched across the 3 monitors. Look at the screenshot of where the guy is holding the rifle. Plus the crosshairs on screen or streched and squashed. I don't think it really adds that much vs the cost of doing it. Unless it was patched so you get at least 45deg view off to each side.

I dunno, I think they just stretched it on those screenshots to give the effect (the reviewer must have been a bit cheap and did a Photoshop jobby), I don't think it's like that when you got the proper setup, otherwise it'd be a very pointless and expensive exercise.

No, the screenshots are not streched. I think anyone can clearly see fov is much wider.

Possible to do 2/3rds of this? ie. use only two monitors one on a agp card the other pci. Have one show the forward view while the other for a left or right instead?

Well the rez is still streched across the screen. You do have a wider FOV, but the image is streched. Look at this:

800_fpres_5.jpg

You have to look close, but look at the crosshairs in the middle monitor. How would you hit anything with that? I'm not knocking it, the triple head monitor looks nice, but for me the money is better spent on other things. I don't know how much this will take off having to have 3 monitors. My second monitor I have is from my 486 from 92 and is a nice 14in job. can't wait to upgrade that one.

The three-monitor solution, yes.

But there are a number of other video cards that can drive two monitors, and since those can create a virtual desktop that stretches across both physical monitors, you can play OFP with a window that covers both.

The real problem with using only two monitors is that the center of the FOV would be where the bezels of the two monitors would meet, which would be very distracting. There are some LCDs with very narrow bezels (about 1/2"), but that is still too much. You'd really need a single wide landscape LCD to get an unobstructed view -- Samsung has one that is 1920x1200.

FOV has definitely increased. the place mentioned in dayglow's picture is a place where I sometimes like to do some mssion editing and ATM, i think FOV has increased.

however, i think there is some stretching involved. the hint box on the left hand side top is a bit to elongated.

the graphics aspect ratio seems fine, and the FOV is larger, but your right, the UI portions (crosshair, hud, etc..) are stretched...

It would ne nice, if graphic cards like the GF4 or others with

dual monitor support can be used in ofp and i don't think of

the solution to split them and have the crosshair between

both. wink.gif

Maybe more something like the default 3D view on the first

and some freely defineable 3d view on the second or the map

always shown on it.

Would be nice if this can be realized sometimes in flashpoint,

but the newly working surround gaming for the parhelia shows

that nothing is impossible for the future development of

flashpoint.

Maybe sometimes i can use all my 3 monitors i currently got

attached to my pc. smile.gif

It's not fake at all. Yes seperate PC's are running the various monitors, but that's by design for that game.

What's your problem with OpFlash: Resistance running on three monitors? Why do say it's fake if you don't know anything about it? Sometimes I really don't get why do you complain about things you don't have or don't want to have...

All you need is: Resistance and 1.85 patch (this is a new feature in 1.85 and above only!wink.gif, Matrox Perhelia graphics card, 3 monitors and proper configuration. And believe me, it's amazing because you have peripheral vision in the game. But I guess it's something you must see to believe... We don't expect normal users to go for this setup but we have users of our engine that will really use it so it's there now.

It's right that in 1.85 the all 2d overlays are stretched - not nice but still playable without problems. Fix for this is planed in the next patch.

hell, I'm already rummaging around in my basement, trying to find some of my extra monitors:-)

Having better FOV while flying is worth it for me, even if it's on 17" monitors instead of my main 21"

This works on my Laptop too. When I setup an external monitor and have my graphics card set to clone in the horizontal span.

This could mean that other third party implementations of multiple monitor spanning would work, such as the Appian cards....perhaps.

(It's a GeForce 4 Go)

It's a shame that I can't add two monitors to get the full use. smile.gif

I believe he was refering to the link that shows about 6 computers networked together showing off FS2002 on about 10 screens so that the cockpit wraps around the guy. And that one isn't a fake either. FS200x has had multimonitor /network support like that for a long time.
