Perhaps it's best to wait and see about the "brilliant"-part.

Not quite. Sustained gunfire was heard for at least 30mins, as a group of hostages attempted to flee the buildings. The HT's opened fire on the hostages, and the Russian Specops returned fire to cover the escaping hostages....

They then seemed to follow up on that and stormed the building in force.

There seem to have been some casualties among the hostages, but this hasn't turned out to be the huge bloodshed and loss of lives that I feared it would be turned into by the terrorists.

It's still a bit early, but hats off and a grateful "Thank You!" to the Russian Special Forces who put their own lives on the line to rescue the innocent hostages.

Wait till the casualty figures come out, before people start rejoicing. Seems a number of SpecOps guys were injured.

This is a terrible incident. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who lost their lives.

I just some videos of russian soldiers being murdered and torchered by rebels at ogrish. I am shocked what I saw. I never knew things like that where happening. It's not hard forgeting the world isnt a nice place living here in America. I hope the international community will come together and help Russia get rid of these terrorist.

Suits me fine. But I'm afraid you misunderstood. It wasn't I who meant the russians in the baltic states should be denied human rights or civil rights.

I suggest you read again!

Nasty stuff. Kids getting treated for gunshot wounds.

Sounds like the Hostage taker's went rock and roll on the hostages when the place got stormed.

i was out of my office and then this happens....at least the situation is over. hewww..

but this shows that terrorism does not pay. it would have been a lot scarier if it went longer and terrorists started executing ppl. god knows how Russians will think Chechen rebels as.

Have you been to New York? Do you believe the towers are still there?<span id='postcolor'>
