Leon86 13 Posted May 28, 2013 For the Haswell CPU, I see many bad reviews for this CPU...So i'm going to buy a 3570k I think. There are no reliable reviews yet, and even the the ones available now say it's faster. Price is unknown, but intel has kept the same models at the same price feature wise, just increasing performance and efficiency since socket 1156.

I had my 3770k @4200MHz + 16GB G.Skill @2133MHz + P8Z77-V + Gigabyte GTX670-OC-2GB and was not happy with the performance. I further OC the CPU to @4400MHz and swapped the GTX670-OC with 2x Gigabyte GTX680-SOC-2GB. The Performance went up, but was far from being perfect. You should have waited for the next-gen NVIDIA-GPU's, as they perform a bit better for less money, but they are at the end only re-branded: The new GTX 750 Ti is identical to the old GTX 670. The new GTX 770 is identical to the old GTX 680. The new GTX 780 is identical to the old GTX Titan LE. Source: gtx-760-ti-770-780-detailed GTX780-Review Aye should run fine. I use a 660 Ti and 3570k and I can max it out. Same RAM spec + amount as you too ^.^ You only max the hardware out and not the quality-settings, right ? How many fps do you get in the different showcases and with which settings ? What are your average fps in MP ? :) Edited May 29, 2013 by TONSCHUH
kklownboy 43 Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) 7970, 85hz @1920/1440 ; 2500VD~, Ultras and "High Terrain" noATOC, 4xAA (8xAA depends), fxaa-sharp. Vsync On. 40s to 85 FPS. Zooming on scopes- 50 to 70 fps. Game is smooth. Occasional area that will do a 20~ fps, but I haven't seen that for awhile (couple of Dev builds ago). CPU is 4.2, ram is 1600... Old i7. And this is MP. If I really MAX the settings (8XAA) Very High Terrain, then i use 1920/1200 and have basically the same FPS.1080p is easy. VD and ObjD are big. Going 6k or some big VD is death to fps. Oh PP on Very Low. It will lower FPS too, but PP is such a personal preference. Blur is lame. And 2GB cards are not going to "max" at 1200p, 1080p... maybe a 680, but VD is in the 2k(which is more than fine) Edited May 29, 2013 by kklownboy
HiiTeQ 10 Posted May 29, 2013 Can somebody please help me? I want to build a gaming PC but have no experience, also i am on a budget of £400 ($604) maybe can push to £500 ($756) if i have to go a little over say £40 ($60) i may but lets say £400-£500. I obviously need everything. So CPU Quad core GPU HDD looking for 1TB with at least 7200 rpm so i can use Dxtory RAM 8 GB PSU Motherboard DVD Drive Case Obviously i can pick the case myself but if you could show me a site with one that will fit all components, that would be great. I think that's all i will need but correct me if i am wrong. Obviously i would like it to run Arma 3 and DayZ quite well. I did ask other places but with no answer i thought you guys would know best. I was looking at the Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz Socket 1155 8MB at £260 obviously that's a big chunk out of my budget straight away, but what do you think? is there better options or can you give me a full list of components that will all work together well for the price im giving. Don't worry to much about the case as part of the budget and don't worry about mouse or keyboard. And one last thing, would i be able to run it on a 40" 1080p TV? If you manage to help me out thank you very much and if i ever see you on DayZ i will give you beans?
OneZeoN 10 Posted May 30, 2013 Id go over to PC Specialist forums and ask in there. But for £400-500 you will struggle for a decent rig...i7 3770k is 100% not going to happen with that budget though
Leon86 13 Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) already have windows vista/7/8 ? anyway, in a few days intel haswell will be avialable, maybe that'll bring amd prices down even further, dunno. Otherwise haswell's cheapest quad should have decent price/performance. Also, probably no need to go for a K with haswell, fsb overclocking will return apparantly, unless that's also a K chip feature. anyway? no hardware to cannibalise? with that kind of budget a small saving somewhere can mean a good performance boost elsewhere. Vaz 10 Posted May 31, 2013 Considering getting this over the next few weeks; I've got a new PC over Christmas, and I've only just recently started looking into using it as a Gaming platform, due to the next gen consoles not really interesting me. This is what I got; it was straight out of the box, as far as I know, no modifications to it. I've gone to Can I Run It, and that says it passes the minimum, but that the recommended it is short on only the Video Card; I have an "AMD Radeon HD 6570". Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (build 7600), 64-bit Processor: Intel® Core i5-2300 CPU @ 2.80GHz Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6570 Total RAM: 6.0 GB As an example, I can run Skyrim on Ultra, with .ini settings tweaked to get maximum quality, HD texture packs, field of view increasers, for near enough no visible loss, although I am yet to actually get a FPS reading, as I lack Fraps, or however else you find out. While I know that according to the website I can run it, meeting Min Specs, what sort of quality am I actually looking at? I.e, am I lower end and laggy, needing a video card upgrade, or will it "be alright"? Thanks for your help in advance guys! If you need any more information I can help out, but I'm new to this whole computer gaming thing, I'm used to plug in and play.

I think your 6570 might be a problem, but you say you can get Skyrim on ultra settings with this card, so I could be wrong. Try and get hold of the gift A3Alpha, maybe on steam, to try it out first.. I shall have a try over the next week. Out of interest I just ran Passmark 8.0 on the free trial. I have no idea how relevant it is, but it scored 1947 on the test. Is there an equivalent pass mark to compare to anywhere? Or is that not a "thing"? Sorry if these are irrelevant or stupid questions.

Its quite possible you could run the game o.k, just the card is a little weaker than I would have thought you needed. However, there are lots of players running the game on all sorts of setups, old and new, with the same degree of success or failure, so trying it out is by far the best thing to do if you can, before buying. Regards the passmark score, not sure myself, never run one. Its just one of those games Vaz, that you have to try out first. It will run, its just how good, hope it runs well for you.:). dimi2me 10 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) bonjour, J'ai déjà joué et je possède operation flashpoint et arma 1 et 2. I have already been playing OFP and Arma 1+2. My question: I have a Core Duo E8600 overcklocked to 4GHz GTX 570 4GB ram Screen with 1680x1050p Is it possible to properly play Arma 3, not on any higher settings but suffiently, with this system. Thanks Edited June 1, 2013 by PurePassion It is not my job to translate your posts so please write in english since it's the only language allowed ;)
[evo] dan 79 Posted June 1, 2013 You probably will struggle to play it on a dual core, although you could always try Arma 3 alpha and see how well that run. Also, this is an English speaking forum so you might have wanted to post in English.
jumbobreakfast 13 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) I'm thinking about upgrading my i7 950 to an Intel Haswell system soon. There are lots of reviews of Haswell out this weekend but none that I've read tested Arma 2 or 3alpha so i'm just wondering if anyone here has heard of any improvements with Arma 2/3alpha and Haswell? I did find one reviewer who showed CPU test results for Shogun 2: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/06/01/intel-core-i7-4770k-cpu-review/6 Edited June 2, 2013 by PurePassion Moved.
