Its a nice model but personally I wouldnt want to see that in any game today due to its way too high polycount.

Is it too high for an radeon 9700 PRO? just wondering...

That card is a beast itself.

This person has talent. But you guys are right. WAY too HIGH poly.

Personally Fliper's M4s are just fine. I dont think we need more.

You don't usually get into close combat anyway, to admire the full detail and beauty of the model... so what would be the point? With detailed textures, the gun can look like it is high poly when it isn't.

P.S. Graphic cards don't make a major difference in poly counts. A Radeon might slow it down even more, it depends more on your CPU speed.

I can't believe those are rendered, they look like carved out plastic or spraypainted metal or carved out metal or.. you get the picture.

perhaps in 5 years or so we might see such detail in home computer games, but that might be the kind of foresight people had between the 20's to the 60's (they had vision tounge.gif )

In the topic he said super high poly M4.

Well the render was pretty nice but no skin yet applied.

But the detail was what caught my eye. what is the average poly of the OPF engine? the guy who made it didnt't say the poly count...

Possibly it didn't show up.

A lot of the way a weapon looks in in the skin. Most small changes in height can be done with bumpmaps.

I thought that Counterstrike (horrid game) used animations for the weapon models seen from the first person view and not three dimensional models.

Those are not comp generated models. Those are real plastic models.

They use 3d models... ome are "poly-whores" and make very much detailed models while you don't see all the poly's make it a waste of CPU power.

The SR-25 fires the 7.62x51 cartridge, that looks like it fires the 5.56x45, so won't it be the SR-15, you can tell by the length of the Reciever and the magazine style. Also the barrel looks like the M4A1 type, so I think it is an SR-15. Very nice model though.
