ketsucorp 22 Posted April 4, 2015 Is it just me, or do all the backpacks added by this mod have identical carrying capacities to one-another? They also appear have a weight value close to 0 (may even be exactly 0 tbh). Also, all helmets appear to give exactly the same levels of protection and also apparently weigh nothing. Vests all have the same level of protection, and belts with only a couple of pistol magazine pouches have the same carrying capacity as vests with a dozen or so pouches on them. The rebreathers are configured incorrectly (as the oxygen mask etc show when out of water, default behaviour only has these show when in water deep enough to warrant them being worn). Completely correct. The objective of this was to provide equipment without compromise to the already flawed fatigue systems in ArmA III. Identifying a dynamic issue such as the fatigue system, we figured weight vs. protection is of less consequence than the unrealistic consumption of player energies. Rebreathers are configured to provide players the correct feel of OTW or as it is called, Over-the-Horizon warfare. A scuba entry team would not simply "automatically" turn off their rebreathers upon surfacing and so when that's interred into the gameplay dynamic we have a far more realistic feel to use. It stands to reason that a team can enter onto an oil rig platform and would remain in equipment (as trained to do so) to perform the operation. Players can also choose to have Scuba Goggles stay on by choosing them from NVG while using the original Scuba Goggles from eyewear to provide full coverage. While not a necessity, a specific request sent to our group to enable scuba kits that would be visible on land as well as waterborne made sense to us in development as well. Hope that clears up some of your questions and query. Thank you for your feedback.
Jackal326 1181 Posted April 4, 2015 I'm not saying the fatigue system is perfect, however, consideration toward it would have been better than everything weighing nothing surely? When playing with the unit I am a part of, I find myself (as in many other games that offer similar levels of customisation such as the R6 Vegas games and similar), weighing up the level of protection offered by the gear against the amount of encumbrance it deals. The levels of protection in this particular addon don't differ, and the encumbrance doesn't differ - Essentially this entire addon boils down to a vanity pack. I'm not dissing the mod or the work that goes into it. Having worked on addons for my unit I can appreciate it is a lot of work. However, sadly this addon doesn't provide the consideration of content (in terms of config values and such), and seems more catered to units not dealing in realism so I'll pass on further updates. We appreciate the feedback. That said, the discussion was made months in advance prior to release that the fatigue system is an ongoing and continuing drawback to the ArmA series post A2. At present the value's are flawed and until a time when these class variables are stable (no adjustments vis a vis BIS patch change) we would prefer to save ourselves any effort in the longest term. When you say consideration of content in terms of class values be aware that we provided deliberate consideration of ArmA III's fatigue system and made the call willingly. That decision is both of consequence and is made completely with thought and not a mere oversight as possibly implied in your statement. I can't see how a unit would be any less realistic simply for avoiding a bug or detrimental feature such as the current fatigue system in A3. This system was not much better in ACE2, so we feel that any team that continues to use mods that do not cater for weight are in no way less respected in our opinion. We developers are fully aware of each decision we make and we have chosen the path to remove or deprecate any weight values until they work. Again, thank you for your feedback and take care. darkxess 60 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) I don't know if this is ok but I am using all 4 of the optional downloads together - Core, Multicam, USA, MARPAT, and though its working without errors etc the game hangs dreadfully for around 3 minutes before actually launching into the mission. This is from the editor then pressing preview it takes a long time to actually load into the game. I know its your mod as ive tried and tested everything, I loaded the game without and it loads within seconds, but then with your mod activated it takes at least 3 minutes to get into the game. Could it be that I have all 4 using together? are they ok to use together? This is no way the cause of my computer, I have a very expensive and powerful rig so its impossible its my end :P In the meantime I would just like to say that its a great mod, thank you very much! my choice for camo if you can put it in is all variations of Kryptek Camo :) Edited April 5, 2015 by DarkXess

At present we are looking into ways we can reduce the requirement down to an individual camo (likely BK) and then allow the remainder colors to be loaded a optional way. This way the requirement is only around 300MB or less at tops. Thank you for enjoying our mod, we are working incredibly hard to provide at this level and we will continue to do so. We may also launch a website for an optional objective which allows users to export from arsenal and load it into a page on the site plus screenshot, where a user can copy/paste their loadout. ketsucorp 22 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) UPDATE: KetsuCorp R&D have been working on rebuilding the entire mod to only require the black camouflage requirement. So far it looks very up and running, stable. However, until server testing is implemented please stand by. We deeply apologize for the large file size requirement and as a manner of apology we will be separating the following files out into kit: GEARS_CORE.PBO GEARS_CB.PBO GEARS_SG.PBO GEARS_OD.PBO GEARS_TN.PBO GEARS_KIT3.PBO (NVG/ESS) GEARS_KIT4.PBO (NVG/ESS) GEARS_USA.PBO GEARS_OCP.PBO GEARS_ACU.PBO GEARS_MARPAT.PBO GEARS_ACU.PBO So far the software seems to be working as expected and we intend to finish this promptly. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience, regards to quality and quantity must be kept at a 1:1 ratio and with our system previously implemented our delivery of product was less than expected. Next time, we will do better with the coming patch and will expect you to remove all prior versions of GEARS for the coming patch. This way a team or unit can use whatever combination they see fit. We will talk on armaholic about setting up download links for the GEARS_CORE page as a single page rather than forcing new links to monopolize the whole site. Thank you. Dipsky 10 Posted April 6, 2015 is it possible to recolor the IOTV to Coyote Brown for the USMC Marpat? it would be nice to have another choice thanks
ketsucorp 22 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) UPDATE: Prior complaints about the filesize requirement of GEARS_CORE has now been addressed, by visiting the front page of this thread or in MODDB.COM (once upload is authorized) you will find GEARS_CORE is available at a signfiicantly smaller size. In addition to this, you'll be able to download the following GEARS folder projects at leisure: GEARS_CB GEARS_SG GEARS_OD GEARS_TN GEARS_NVG GEARS_USA GEARS_OCP GEARS_ACU GEARS_MARPAT GEARS_ABU Please be aware that we recommend you delete your prior PBO's of existing GEAR installations and overwrite extant data with this new system. We've also increased the stability of GEARS_NVG in lieu of high system loads during selection in-game and in arsenal. Thank you for your patience in this matter. Final note; we'll be looking to develop GEARS_NWU & GEARS_90s in the coming months, NWU will support NWU Type-I, II & III, on the basis of developing U.S. Related Naval Camouflage. If you have a better name for supporting both BDU & DCU plus a final selection of Urban camouflage, please let us know, we'd love to know what you think before we get around to releasing this all. Thank you.
