Russia General

Recommended Posts

There are no three world main powers, there is only one. And when it comes to "generating problems" , there are other powers who are creating problems aswell, this is a way too one sided view.

Yes, other powers seem to question us when it comes to Russia and since we are partners with a very important alliance of course we will comply.

I think the markets should rather decide with whom you do business and not politicians, besides exceptions.

I agree. But right here we have such an exception! I mean what would happen if Putin was to invade Ukraine and nobody did anything to punish him for that? In a few years he would take over the next country because obviously he can get away with it.

That is exactly how it worked with Hitler. That guy broke one agreement after another, extended German borders, always in small incrimental steps, and even when he invaded Poland he thought that France and Britain (Hitler tried to sign a quick peace with Britain, he didn´t really want to go to war with them, yet) would let it slide because of his former experiences.

This is why the sanctions are needed. It sucks for the Russian people. It sucks for the Russian companies and their partners. But it has to be done to prevent a potential desaster in the future.

EDIT: Interesting read surpher

More than a decade later, that movie is increasingly dark and disturbing. The first thing Russian militias do when they take a town in East Ukraine is seize the television towers and switch them over to Kremlin channels. Soon after, the locals begin to rant about fascists in Kyiv and dark U.S. plots to purge Russian speakers from East Ukraine. It’s not just what they say but how they say it that is so disturbing: irrational spirals of paranoia, theories so elaborate and illogical one can’t possibly argue with them.

Foreign Legion: Contactors from abroad allowed to serve in Russian army

“Military men, who are foreign citizens, can participate in carrying out the tasks during military situations, and also during armed conflicts, in accordance with admitted principles and norms of international law, international treaties of the Russian Federation, and the Russian legislation,†the decree said.

Looks like Putin needs some fresh blood in Ukraine!

in our press media told about Crimean and East Ukraine nationalisations of different churches, it was told that Orthodox Russian church will take properties of other churches in Crimea and in Eastern Ukraine (controllet by proRussians) so once again religion factor appears even there

I think that in this case it doesn't change the fact.

What fact? The fact that since 2010 foreigners from former USSR countries (preferably of Slavic origin) can enlist in our army and after some years of service get the citizenship, yes?

Most of people at that areas belong to Orthodox church already. So no need to take anything from other confessions. On the other side there were already several provocations committed by self-proclaimed Kiev patriarchate and Uniate church against Kiev lavra that belongs to Moscow patriarchate. And Uniate priests were at the meetings of nationalists blessing them for the struggle against moskali, zhidy and other untermenschen.

BTW...

Exactly. As Sub-Human has said Putin needs fresh blood for his armies.

Since 2010, so the imperialistic and militaristic sights of Putin were set at least 5 years ago.

Wait, they get citizenship after serving in the army?

The same that happens in the Legion Etrangere

What DOES matter:

to be a man between 17.5 and 39.5 years

(for more detailed information about the age limit see: What is the age limit for joining the French Foreign Legion exactly?)

to have a valid ID – the presentation of any identity cards (on current validity) delivered by the State of membership of the candidate is asked so as to facilitate the process of selection and recruitment (ID card, passport, driving licences, diplomas of state)

to have a birth certificate verified copy (translation into English or French languages prefered), confirmation of the certificate’s copy not older than 6 months while enlisting (you are allowed to enlist without the certificate as well, however, the document will simplify your engagement)

to be NOT wanted by Interpol (NO murders, NO drug trafficking)

to be physically fit to serve at all times and in all places for at least 5 years

What does NOT matter:

your knowledge of the French language doesn’t matter

your origins doesn’t matter

your nationality doesn’t matter

your religion doesn’t matter

your educational background doesn’t matter

your qualifications doesn’t matter

your social status doesn’t matter

your professional status doesn’t matter

your marriage / marital status or family status doesn’t matter

your military or non-military background doesn’t matter

So, how to join the French Foreign Legion? The ONLY solution to join the French Foreign Legion is to go to mainland France (in EUROPE) and knock on the door of one of the Foreign Legion recruiting centers (once you are in, free accommodation, food and clothing are immediately provided by the Legion).

...another example seems to be the US Army.

It's not the same. You must have a lot of requirements to join the US Armed Forces ( be living in the US, have a Green Card, that should be long enough to fill all the military contract, etc. ). Because that same case can be applied to most of the countries of Europe and the World.

We are talking about being able to join a foreign Army immediately, without specific requirements.

No, it was about getting it as a reward. In the US Army even if you serve as a foreigner you don't have the US citizen guaranteed, it's just a few more points.

We are talking that the Russian Armed Forces will accept foreigners and give them the citizenship for serving in them.

Yes, Iam talking about citizenship as a reward maybe you should read the link I did post.

"Their reward for risking their lives for their adopted country is US citizenship."

edit: wasnt talking about Russia, just refered to methodes about citizenship and serving in the military.

Decision about foreign recruitment will affect negatively on russian army strentgh.

I think most of the volunteers will come from central asian countries

Relations between various ethnic groups in our army are already bad and going to be worse

As having relatives in Ukraine and living in Russia I can say that BS is a statement that there are more fascists on the Russian side.

Wait... Imperialistic and militaristic sights were set even earlier, in 2008.

Its a shortcut mostly for immigrants to get US citizenship....

Read the spiegel article or watch this:

And for none-immigrants:

MAVNI Program: Direct U.S. Citizenship Without Green Card

The Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) program was renewed through May 2015. This program allows certain branches of the U.S. military to hire legal non-immigrants, such as international students, with specialized skills. This could lead to directly earning U.S. citizenship.

This could eventually lead to citizenship, or help you get there but it doesn´t guarantee anything. If you join the french legion you will get citizenship after you served your time. Ther are a lot of people (especially from middle and south america) who have served in the US force without getting citizenship afterwards.

They will probably select and test you, but the recruitment methode stays. Join the military and its the way to a fast citizenship.

French Legion is the Legion, why should we compare it. Yes the US MAVNI programm says it is not a guarantee to get citizenship, the Spiegel report did describe the recruitment methode different as a "reward".

(Project-Syndicate) Russia’s European Home

Last spring, after Russia annexed Crimea and began intervening in eastern Ukraine, the United States and the European Union introduced sanctions against Russian individuals and businesses. But if sanctions are to be an effective tool in countering Vladimir Putin’s ambitions – a topic of ongoing debate in the West – they must combine a firm hand toward Russia’s president with an open one toward its people.

(Politico) Putin’s Washington - Even money, lots and lots of money, can’t buy him love. A story of lobbying and its limits.
