Frankdatank1218 39 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Frank, the known cause is the game itself. Test it in the editor; put down a BIS standard rifleman, with no mods enabled, and enjoy the recoil and fatigue effects. But on the subject of mods, BIS released an amazing update to the dev branch today...that disables sounds for every single mod I have installed. I wonder how they support things like "Make ArmA Not War," without providing basic testing support on their own product to make sure that submissions to that contest can have working audio. baZti, I think you're right. Fortunately the recoil bug is fixed in today's stable, and there is no audio bug with mods either. But the fatigue bug persists; run half a klick with an AA soldier and watch his gun and sights movement in first person. BIS, I really love you. My friends and I, we talk about how BIS is the only studio anymore that really does great work with tactical shooters, about how DICE, whoever makes the next COD, Ubisoft, have all lost their touch. I buy the DLC for your games, even the DLC and games I would never conceivably play, and I just ask, test your updates. Please. If your update modifies the files for the recoil system...just place a unit in the editor and shoot a few times. That's all it takes. And has anyone got a bug tracker submission on this issue, the fatigue glitch? 1. My bug did not affect me without mods or scripts like VAS. The nature of bugs is they may not affect all equally. I don't doubt that your bug occured without mods. 2. The fatigue bug is the most tolerable so I can deal with that. I don't run with heavy loads and don't sprint except for emergency displacement anyway. 3. At least the sound bug has not infiltrated the current stable build. 4. There are already bug trackers for the fatigue ---------- Post added at 18:10 ---------- Previous post was at 18:01 ---------- BTW I still have the recoil bug in stable Edited June 23, 2014 by FrankDaTank1218
Brisse 78 Posted June 23, 2014 BTW I still have the recoil bug in stable They never released a fix to stable. It is fixed in devbranch though.
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted June 23, 2014 3. At least the sound bug has not infiltrated the current stable build. It's NOT a bug, and it's a change that WILL infiltrate stable branch when BIS release the Bootcamp update. So do whatever you feel the need to do in order to cope with these sort of engine changes before then.
miketim 20 Posted June 23, 2014 What is this "sound bug" ? Is it related to the inertia/recoil stuff they are doing? Can someone fill me in on the "sound bug" that apparently isn't a bug, but also apparently is?

miketim 20 Posted June 23, 2014 Does this mean that each gun has a silenced sound now? Instead of the supressor defining the sound, because that is cool, but at the same time kind of a disadvantage. I wish you can have a general suppressed sound for the gun, then maybe define a sound for certain gun+supressor combos as well, but if not it just uses the default one? This way you can make some suppressors more quiet then others. etc etc

So long as the weapon you are attaching the suppressor to has the correct sound classname that is called by that suppressor, it will produce the sound defined under that name in that weapon whenever the weapon is fired. BIS has just opted to use only two sound classes on their own weapons for the time being. I guess, because that's all they need to meet the requirements for their current array of muzzle attachments. However, this discussion of sounds is kind of deviating from the topic of recoil settings (even though muzzle attachments can now also be made to modify recoil by a scale-factor/coefficient value ;)). Better off discussing it in the appropriate thread

Brisse 78 Posted June 23, 2014 When exactly is the bootcamp update? The next DLC which is free and will come out with the next patch. Have you lived under a rock the last months? :D http://arma3.com/news/arma-3-bootcamp-update#.U6hZrfl_vlY Edit: Oh sorry I read "What is bootcamp" :)

colonelhartigan 50 Posted June 24, 2014 Didn't see that thread, thanks da12th/Brisse. And for me at least, the recoil bug is gone in stable and dev with vanilla and modded weapons, but the fatigue bug remains in stable and dev. I think I'll just stick to ArmA 2 for a bit, until BIS patches their update and all mods have their sound configs rewritten...
Greenfist 1863 Posted June 24, 2014 And for me at least, the recoil bug is gone in stable and dev with vanilla and modded weapons The recoil bug is still there in vanilla stable, there hasn't been any updates.
colonelhartigan 50 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Yeah I know, that's what makes it weird. I did install Toadie's HLC battle rifles though, but I doubt that managed to fix everything. I'll test around with it a bit later. Gave some testing to it...still happening when running no mods, but with my thirty or so gigabytes of mods, recoil works as it should. Fatigue bug has no avail. Probably a result of me switching in between dev branch and stable in conjunction with how all of my mods are conflicting with each other. This bug is highly inconsistent it seems by the bug tracker submissions. I guess for the vanilla stable fix we're all waiting on BIS; does anyone know if they plan on updating stable before bootcamp? Brisse 78 Posted June 25, 2014 does anyone know if they plan on updating stable before bootcamp? If they planned that, then they would have done it already. I think they are waiting for bootcamp. It might be closer than you think.
Nikoteen 24 Posted June 25, 2014 I personally stopped playing since the broken recoil... Way too easy to shoot without recoil, no challenge anymore. I wonder how that can go unnoticed, almost no one is complaining ??

There are complaints all over the forum.
colonelhartigan 50 Posted June 25, 2014 If they planned that, then they would have done it already. I agree Brisse, it seems ArmA 3 will be on hiatus for "weeks" according to the dev blog. I guess being able to run around in white space is just more important to BIS than having guns that fire properly in a game that came out not too short of a year ago. What makes you think they're taking a break? Bootcamp is coming to dev-branch this week, which means it's in active development. I'm guessing stable update will follow within a week or two. colonelhartigan 50 Posted June 26, 2014 I mean I'm taking a break until they fix the game, as I imagine some number of people are. Sorry about the ambiguity there. And the dev blog doesn't give me the opinion we'll get the new stable too soon.
