wildcatbridge 377 Posted June 13, 2016 I'm interested to learn about our little following we have here, do we have any current or ex military hanging about?
CrazyCorky 463 Posted June 13, 2016 Prior United States Marine here. Served for 9yrs. Would have stayed in except for the higher tenure for rank screwed me over. What about yourself Wildcat?
wildcatbridge 377 Posted June 13, 2016 British army reserve, The rifles. No promotions here either so far, went to officer selection but slammed my drinks home in the bar so you can imagine how that went. Still i only joined late 2014 so i still have time to go and try with old NCO ranks.

The USMC discharges soldiers after 9 Years? Aren't most soldiers still pretty young after 9 Years of service? I am in the german Armed Forces since i'm 17 and i already got nearly 7 years of service now
wildcatbridge 377 Posted June 14, 2016 you've been serving since you were 10? Think there might be a translation issue here and i think the USMC is like us you sign up for a set term (say 12 years) but you can leave after you have done your minimum service (like 4 years or something) EDIT: my bad misread your post, thought you said you were 17 now and had done 7 years. not you started at 17 and had done 7 years

I am in the german Armed Forces since i'm 17 and i already got nearly 7 years of service now USMC has set time limits to hit certain ranks, if you meet certain requirements such as being looked at for promotion but passed over you can be forced out. Which is what happened to me. My job as an aviation Electrician (more specifically comm/nav gear) was one of the slowest promoting jobs in when I got out in 2012. I am currently learning it by myself while doing my mod. Its getting easier once you got the flow going. i'm not, i'm the writer. wildcatbridge 377 Posted June 14, 2016 It's not a bad policy, more practical you look at things the more believable something is.
Eagle1992 373 Posted June 14, 2016 It's not a bad policy, more practical you look at things the more believable something is. Yeah but still sometimes you like a gun or a vehicle so much that you just have to include it.
PTV-Jobo 820 Posted June 14, 2016 Yeah but still sometimes you like a gun or a vehicle so much that you just have to include it. Nothing wrong with taking a wee bit of creative license at times. Breaks up the monotony in strict singular path development. Funny enough, when I did some things via creative license with ASTFOR some people didn't like it or complained that it didn't make sense, like with the Galil family that it made absolutely no sense for a Nordic country. Stuck to my guns only to accidently happen to come across intel of Sweden's very own Galil that nearly was--the FFV 890C. So sometimes even when you take some creative license, you might be surprised one day to see that vehicle or weapon you liked so much actually works out logically in the future. ;)

I'd love to own one IRL.

But at the end i've choosen the AR160 for normal Troops and the F2000 for Airborne which was a decision just because i like the design of the F2000, good ol' tactical tuna.

As of right now (since I don't do modeling) my favorite weapons pack is NIArsenal. I love the G36 family. Not sure why... but I do!
wildcatbridge 377 Posted June 14, 2016 i'm quite fond of the good old SLR otherwise known as the FN FAL to everyone else.

But i think there are already enough HK Weapons in Arma. (And my Pack still contains tons of them)
