EricJ 765 Posted February 6, 2015 TMR does that as far as I know and I haven't spent enough time with it to really think on it so it's not MRT, as that handles only scopes and lasers/lights. I'd like to do it but I'm doing a few things at once so let me get some stuff settled so I can think on that issue.
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted February 6, 2015 I'm seeing what I can do as from what I'm understanding I have to create "two" of the same model which I'm sure is a game limitation so it won't be a lot so it won't clog up the listing too much on either VAS (which unfortunately Tonic isn't supporting anymore :( ) and Virtual Arsenal. Regarding this: BIS recently made it so that you can hide the "duplicate" attachments modes from Arsenal by setting the scope value to "protected" in the classes that you want to hide. i.e using scope = 1; (which also hides items from the mission editor) or scopeArsenal = 1; (which only hides the class from the Arsenal). I have no idea whether VAS uses scope restrictions to blacklist/whitelist attachments or not but maybe it does. In some cases you might want to leave the alternate modes as "public" scope (scope = 2; etc.) for people who don't want to use MRT, but may still want to be able to select the variant items from the Arsenal rather than be forced to spawn them with addItem or something. The MRT config parameters don't create dependencies, so it is possible to run MRT compatible addons without MRT if they want; so long as the author doesn't include force it in the requiredAddons[] array at the top of their config. Otherwise it's useful to hide all of the superfluous classes using "protected" scope.
dhr 10 Posted February 6, 2015 I cannot find the Thompson anywhere in ArmA 3 after properly installing. Any ideas out there, of where it is, or how to find it? Am I missing a file?
EricJ 765 Posted February 6, 2015 Go to Configure/Expansions and it should be listed. Enable then Restart and should be good to go.
dhr 10 Posted February 6, 2015 Yes, I didn't say in my post, I should have... Tried that. Still no Thompson. Just tried it again for good measure. Nope. I also read somewhere about having "ASDG joint muzzles" file also. That is in there. I just cannot see it. I am in Editor/ Single Player and trying to place, on the map, an ammo box of Thompsons... I am assuming it is under Empty/Ammo/EJ Thompson. I have searched the list and no luck.
EricJ 765 Posted February 6, 2015 Yeah because I didn't put one in the mod (nobody has really cared for one so I didn't think to put one in). But as far as not seeing it, it's not in Virtual Arsenal at all? I could have sworn it was , the name in Virtual Arsenal is this: M1928A1 Thompson SMG All of the others follow the same general name. EricJ 765 Posted February 7, 2015 Guys/gals if you post on my Steam Page for my mods, don't clutter it up with your screen name. First it looks stupid and second of all... it's just pointless and I'll delete it. Happy Shooting!
dhr 10 Posted February 7, 2015 Wow...found it. I didn't have the Virtual Arsenal installed. That only took me a few hours to figure out, and then install it. Now I have the Thompson. Thanks for your help!!
EricJ 765 Posted February 7, 2015 Yeah... you had to install Virtual Arsenal? It comes with the game, Learn\Virtual Arsenal
kevin395 10 Posted February 7, 2015 Very nice weaponpacks :)
dhr 10 Posted February 8, 2015 I never looked in the Virtual Reality part. I have never used it. I found a mod on Armaholic called VAS , Virtual Arsenal... Something. It had some kind of instructions, which didn't help. This lead me to YT video. There, someone walks through the process of downloading this mod and adding script (?) and a code to the empty ammo box and....there it is. In Single Player. Right where I wanted it. Found all kinds of weapons I didn't know I had. Also found my Black colored MX Weapons. Forgot about those in there.
EricJ 765 Posted February 8, 2015 Yeah VAS, or Virtual Ammobox System that Tonic stopped supporting. A shame but overall a lot of people knock it but I like using it. A bit buggy with pistol attachments but overall I Like how it works, my only gripe was the windows, I went on a UK-FRG server and like how they set up the code, much better than the original format. Overall though I still use it for my missions along with Virtual Arsenal setup.
Hsiulung 1 Posted February 9, 2015 It's only me not having the gun smoke and flash on most of the weapons in this pack? M249's sound is strange aslo.
EricJ 765 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm still trying to figure that out myself. As for the sound... how is it "strange?"
gatordev 220 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm still trying to figure that out myself. As for the sound... how is it "strange?" He may mean what I posted earlier. The pitch change between the two sound files is too much, so it sounds like two different guns shooting from two different positions but it's actually coming from the same weapon. If you just used one of the two sounds (either one works) and called the same sound twice in the config, it would probably fix the issue. I haven't been able to mess with A3 much for the last week or two, but look forward to playing with your Surefires shortly!
EricJ 765 Posted February 10, 2015 Ahh gotcha that helps more than "Just strange" (hint hint). I can knock that out in a bit. But muzzleflashes, you fucking got me man,the USAF mod weapons work as they should (without fail) but somehow, somewhere this one is well... "weird" in that regards, and is driving me nuts as far as why it works on there, but not those, so when I get to it, I will, sometime. Lack of activity on my topic? I'm doing some custom work so I'll take a "break" and work on that so I'm still monitoring the topic, just not doing any related work to this mod.
warlord554 2065 Posted February 10, 2015 Are the usaf weapons packed with a different tool? Could be the issue
EricJ 765 Posted February 10, 2015 Nope same tool. It may be something in the model.cfg I need to check or carry over to the public pack to possibly unfuck the issue though.
EricJ 765 Posted February 12, 2015 Still alive and kicking, but bogged down for some custom work... it'll be a while before I can update the pack (which needs to be done) so on average for one gun so far (custom rail systems take a bit) it's been about four days and still not complete (even with the time I'm putting in it). Sooo... I figure within a couple weeks or so I may be able to get back to the stuff. Still haven't forgotten about the SureFire mags, but here's some humor anyway: http://taskandpurpose.com/6-worst-guys-see-gun-range/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=hp-facebook&utm_campaign=culture

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty close to 90s swat guy. Except I like 9mm, it's that .40 s&w I can't stand.

EricJ 765 Posted February 12, 2015 Lol yeah it's a treat for sure though :) The '90s chicken wing always gets me and really a pet peeve sometimes :)
EricJ 765 Posted February 13, 2015 Had a guy on the 5th Marines Server almost get me shot by Rotary-Wing (I got lucky though). He had a fair understanding of how to control which was nice, but he needed a bit better self-awareness of what friendies were where. Overall again people. If you're on a public server and there's multiple people running around stop, take a second, open the map and check if you're going to clear rotary-wing hot. And the fact that they disable the text chat (I was a bit too miffed at the stuttering from the Human Rotary-Wings shooting the shit out of the buildings, equals more lag, took a mag to kill one AAF dude, (good thing I was in the prone). SO again... make sure... So nothing against the server but a little more situational awareness always helps.
warlord554 2065 Posted February 13, 2015 Sounds to me like basic tactics/procedure knowledge and discipline. If rotorary cas is on station, call out targets. Come when called or triple check for blufor friendlies. Ground leaders keep tabs on your squad, when safe cordon target area off, call in the rain. But, just my two cents ;)
