Jets & Planes: More to come?

Recommended Posts

So, with the rather disappointing number of jets and planes released with ArmA III (discounting variants of the same jet leaves around 1), I was left wondering when the cargo plane, bearing resemblance to the C130J, and what looked like an F-22 Raptor shown in early screenshots, as well as the tactical guide I forked out the extra £15 for, were going to show their faces and make a glorious entrance in an update. I had previously thought that these were going to make their appearance in the first installment of the campaign; clearly I was wrong.

So, my question: When exactly are we going to see more jets and planes added? So I know BI are working on a new CSAT jet, however I have not heard anything with regards to the aircraft shown in the tactical guide that seems to be absent from the game itself. So I'm more of a helicopter pilot myself, however this does not mean I do not like to take jets for a spin as well as see them whizzing past my helicopter, engaging other aircraft and performing air strikes. I feel that, in an action and military simulator, there should be a greater aircraft presence alongside helicopters. Yes, it may be impractical to use a C130J as troop transport over such a small island, but that doesn't mean it isn't a hell of a lot of fun.

Share your thoughts and any information you have; I have not been keeping in check with the updates lately due to a high workload so I may have missed something.

Regards,

- Matt

Search before posting please, there is already a quite lengthy discussion regarding planes and aircraft, in this same board.

OP has a point. It's content that should have been in launch and BIS won't even mention what planes they've chosen.

In regards to the tactical guide your talking about, i believe that is the F-18 by Spartan, you can find in the mods section. On regards to everything else, this subject has been touched upon, including my post suggesting two to 4 possible outcomes for aircraft, in which one of them, surprisingly managed to appear as the concept render (Yak-131 Multirole), but word on any others like blufor, is still yet unseen.

The "what looked like an F-22 Raptor" turned out to just be the F-35, which the digital tactical guide -- the Web site version anyway -- has since clarified is "from the All in Arma mod." (It doesn't say that about the C-130J, renamed the "C-192 Samson", whereas it does about a bunch of other stuff such as the Osprey.)

Here's the "concept render" that DarkSideSixOfficial was talking about, and this gallery includes a few other images such as profile concept renders without weapons, with weapons, and in the cockpit. No revealed progress on a BLUFOR equivalent at this point, only that one has been announced.

Need a civilian plane too. There's always been a prop aircraft for the civilians in the series and it can add to the ambience and mission possibilities. I wouldn't care if it was just a port of the AN-2, that thing is cool.

Mind directing me to such? I can't seem to find the topic you're talking about; I'm pretty new here ;)

Either way, there should've been more official content in my opinion.

So according to the SITREP they are working on two CAS fixed-wings... I hope one of them is a modified A-10

Arma up until now took a bit more risks with giving plenty of toys like fixed wings and bikes, but now with this latest it seems more about "focus on infantry" leaving us fixed wing lovers cold.

For sure. A little cessna would be awesome imo.

I would like a lear jet or something as well. Would be great for VIP stuff.

The thing is that fixed-wing isn't all here yet... unless you're talking about the lack of 'dedicated' air-to-air? Because to be honest, BI has simulated fixed-wing almost exclusively as CAS, with the exception of the C-130 in Arma 2 and that one DC-3 in ArmA: Queen's Gambit.

Funny thing is, we haven't seen a BI-made Cessna since the original Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis/Arma: Cold War Assault. :p
