TPW MODS: enhanced realism and immersion for Arma 3 SP.

So what's the status of TPW skirmish?

Will it be advanced at all in terms of development, I've tried using other force generation methods to achieve the effect needed and it often requires far more of my system than this method does to achieve the same effect.

Alive and Saok's scripts are built around a different principle that would simply require far more resources as opposed to generating forces within a radius around the player and despawning them when necessary.

Previously I used Thompsonb's flashpoint scripts for Arma 2, but yours is really the closest thing to that at present.

Well Pd3 SKIRMISH pretty much does exactly what I want, which is spawn enemy/friendly infantry patrols and vehicles around the player in a CPU friendly manner. I wasn't planning on taking it too much further given that there are mods that specialise in creating a full AI battlefield, and there are already people on this thread bitching that SKIRMISH shouldn't even be enabled by default.

That said, if you have ideas about what you'd like to see, please let me have them.

Well, I actually really like skirmish, and the only thing I would like to see is perhaps something enabling multiplayer use, although I understand if that's considerably more difficult.

The only aspect to skirmish that I would change and I think I could do that myself honestly is add air support for the opfor side so I occasionally have to deal with air threats as well.

Otherwise I agree, it's a great way to create the appearance of a battle raging around you especially when you're using an environment such as fallujah where loading the entire area with an ACTUAL amount of ai necessary to do it would tax most systems.

The only other kind of "way out there" wish I would have, and this is not specifically of TPW mods, but just in general is a dynamic music thing, where music changes based on your detection level/damage level, or something.

That would be pretty damn cool, even if it wasn't that elaborate.

They did something similar to that with A2, but the guy decided to not bother updating it for A3 last I checked.

The rain droplets effect on the windshield is not working on the HEMTT vehicles.

All I figured so far is that the particles are being generated behind the truck's cockpit, hence the problem. I haven't found the time yet to see what's causing this.

PS: It affects all the trucks, not only the HEMTT classes.

Are you looking into this issue?

ok great wasn't sure. I didn't want to go into great details on the wrong forum. I have just updated the TPW mods and am unable to adjust the settings using the TPW Settings.jar. I have tried to open this many times and cannot. I am using WinZip to open this as per the recommended Windows setting. The file IS in the userconfig folder. Is there something else I can use? or somewhere, else I can look? I am trying to reduce or stop the AI aircraft and soldiers that appear from nowhere and attack my enemy AI, in single player mode on an edited scenario. Also am trying to reduce the on screen subtitles that have only appeared after this update.. The subtitles are off in the game itself.

You can manually edit the TPW_MODS config. A '1' means the feature is active, a '0' means its disabled. I'm having the same problems with the .jar ever since i used the new install method.

Yes, same here since update. Now I am getting a lot of 'combat' going on between AI teams. These are not AI that I put into the mission to begin with. They appear on their own.. Including armor and aircraft. As for opening this .jar file, that is really the basis of my question, I cannot open it to manually edit the file in the first place.

Yeah, the ai showing up is the skirmish part of TPW. Open up the TPW_MODS.HPP (not the .jar) file with notepad or something, you can edit the file directly. The .jar is just a graphical interface for that file.

Spotted an error to the tooltip in Animations.

At ease speed, the tooltip says : default 0.35

Default should be 0.3

Is it just me or is the CIVS module not working on the dev branch? Running the latest TPW version. CBA updated.

They work just fine in the latest dev on my computer. Are you running Reyhard's A2 civs pack? Something in later dev releases causes this addon to totally @#$% up the config for all other civs.

Actually on second thought. Nothing is initializing for me. I'm trying to troubleshoot with other mod conflicts, but no the only other civilians I run are from the Aggressors pack.

I go to the expansions tab to ensure TPW is loaded, and it is. Not sure why nothing works when I know I have it installed properly. Kinda weird. I'll keep working on it.

Okay, I'm at a loss here.

Rolled back to stable, run nothing but TPW and CBA, everything installed properly. It doesn't run anything. No cars, civilians, ambient combat, etc.

TMR causes the conflict.

That's strange mate, I run TMR (love it, can't play without it) and it causes no conflicts with TPW MODS as far as I can tell.

Hi TPW,

I tried changing the TPW settings on Squad Collateral and All Collateral to 500 but my squad still attacks me after only shooting 3 civilians.

Is there any way I can get this to work properly?

That's an engine thing vampire613. The collateral settings will cause the mission to finish if X civilians are killed, not just by you. But if you start shooting up your squad of civilians, friendlies will always start trying to put you down.

tpw, I'm fairly certain the vehicle radio chatter is still cutting music out in missions. I have a hunch that this might be something to do with faulty music eventhandlers, however. Mind looking into it?

The addMusicEventHandlers are definitely working properly, and if I play a song the vehicle radio chatter iside the vehicle won't play. The only problem I can see is if you have music starting before TPW MODS initialises, in which case the "MusicStart" eventhandler won't be triggered by the already playing music. Not sure how to get around this.

This is easily one of the best mods available for Arma 3 I cant immagine not playing with this anymore.

Just everything about it , especially the falling and skirmish system with the ability to customize everything with a simple intuitive user interface along with auto installation just brilliant 10/10.

P.S *Is there any way to add in civilian killing allowance? and reviving when injured ,dragging , carrying etc.?

You sir are a gem .
