Yoshi 10 Posted June 29, 2014 I'm hoping that you've tested the map to see if it loads while it's in development. There isn't anything worse than designing a map to its fullest to have it not work at the crucial moment. I would also like to ask if your releasing the map separate to all of the Weapons, Items, etc. Seeing as the doing it all in one would be way to much work. I hope you post an update soon, hopefully with some screens so we can see the current state of this mod. If you need any help with weapons and uniforms... Like details, pics then please let me know and I will begin a browsing :)

Like details, pics then please let me know and I will begin a browsing :) Were releasing all the material at the same time. Full mod. Screens will come in due time. All the materials referenced came from World War II history museums from around the world and. The sounds were taken from various firing ranges of the real weapons. We have a lot of detailed pics of vehicles, uniforms, etc from people that gave up their time to visit some of these places and help us out. What we need help with is voice acting. East-coast NYC, also Chicago style accents in particular.

Tyl3r99 41 Posted July 28, 2014 So since my last update there was a bit of a problem with the new terrainbuilder updates which did not include support for the terrain grid I was using, at least not using the variables and parameters I had planned on. I did find help via Bushlurker! Big thanks to him and figured out what will work. The map is now nearly 1:1 scale. I'm currently importing every existing roadway and rail feature that existed during WW2 into the map. Not sure how the game engine will react, 1/2 way done, so far, so good but I'll keep you posted. Flyboys will love this map. by the sounds of it flyboys will need to refuel a lot more often ;) finally bomber escort missions will rock!!
vintorez 250 Posted July 28, 2014 It was released for ArmA 2.-> http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9729&highlight=RIP31ST Writing A2 I meant: "Fields of War: Normandy 1.00". I don't mean "31st Normandy Mod", which incidentally was released earlier.

foxsch 3 Posted August 29, 2014 One thing I found was (sort of) missing from the possibilities in ARMA II - 'Sort of Missing' as I figured a workaround but had no idea how to implement it myself - and that was the ability of Units to detonate charges large enough to breach walls and large emplacements? In context I wanted to breach a Dam during a Mission - what would be needed of course were 'before and after' models - for a Dam particularly, but also for destroyed concrete bunkers and so forth - true - if you were to place (for instance) a Coastal Gun Emplacement - set for explosives - then following the bang, replace the map item with a destroyed equivalent it would work. But how about replacing what was a valley beneath a Dam with a new flood of water? Surely this would need to be an option either in the Island - or put together by someone with skills in creating Islands? I can only use the editor, I do not know how to create items for the editor so I moved away from the idea - have you thought about it? It isn't a specific idea for the A3 31st but it definitely has WWII potential for Missions. Also, while were on the topic, maybe one exists already but I haven't spotted it yet - apologies if so - I've always thought that ARMA lacked a grenade-skill aspect. Specifically I'm referring to just how difficult it is to get one into a window - Titi has put the amazing Grenade in Tank script together - can someone come up with a 'Grenade-in-Window' script? You'd need to approach the window, and be near enough for the script to trigger (have a grenade), and 'click' you've rattled a 'nade into a filled room of enemy! Yoshi 10 Posted October 31, 2014 I'm not being funny, but can the moderators close this topic down if the author doesn't post anything new within a week, I'm sick of being warned for asking a simple question such as "is this mod dead or not" it would be easier to just close topics like this down if the author hasn't posted any development updates or even been bothered to post at all. babylonjoke 22 Posted October 31, 2014 Sometimes it's better when developers don't say anything, too much talk makes the thread a joke. And they are by nowhere forced into show their progress to keep a thread unlocked. So, instead of ask to close the thread you should hope that this mod is not dead, because it's prorbably one of the most ambitious and massive out there. CaptainAzimuth 714 Posted October 31, 2014 I thought i heard somewhere that this would be the biggest map in Arma History. Just hearing that, i hope this mod succeeds, just to prove to those nay Sayers that a map this size is possible. =D
Yoshi 10 Posted November 1, 2014 See, we worked it out to be around 256 x 256 km which put's it at a massive distance in total area. The problem is apparently having a map that size would be to demanding on the system but I reckon if you set it so the map loads at a set distance from the player, and restrict view distance with fog then in theory it should work. That is if it's still going though, don't get me wrong when I saw this thread I was so excited, but not sure what's going on....we can only wait and find out the hard way. Yoshi 10 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) And what map was that, because I'm pretty sure it isn't arma 3 or arma 2... if it's one of those arma then it should work with am3p. If it's from the first arma then it's pointless to us. Not to sound like an ass, but if it's any earlier then there isn't any point in it. I've just taken a quick look on armaholic and no such map exists, so please provide a link if you can so we can test for our selves, would be good to have a look at. I've just taken a quick look on armaholic and no such map exists, so please provide a link if you can so we can test for our selves, would be good to have a look at. It was for arma 3 and it isnt a public map. someone is working on a life mod which is based in france, they make the map, vehicles etc in french style. But they changed the map from the 2700km to 40km map which is based on a french city or province. then i asked them if they can send me theyr 2700km france map for private use so i could test the size on the arma 3 engine. they send me the map via skype so its not a public map and its a cancelled map, there wasnt a single object and only one texture and the textures were very lowres and maps with that size will end with bugs which cant be fixed, for example there is a shaking bug where your weapon in your hand starts to.shake or when you walk or drive, you will shake too. its like something is pushing you left and right. I tested various maps. i tested the take on helicopters maps in arma 3, seattle which is 60km x 60km and the southeast asia terrain which is 120kmx120km and they both worked fine (some buildulings from seattle map were bugged but thats object related not terrain related) then i tested 2 arma 2 custom terrains in arma 3, one was 180km x 180km and the other was 201kmx201km and both maps had the same bugs like the big france map. seems like everything above 120kmx120km get these bugs.
