Wow, first impressions are very, very good.

I'm very happy with the release of Arma 3. I think it has the best graphics of any game and the most realistic looking as well. The lighting is also the best I've ever seen. Performance seems to be even better than the last couple of beta updates. I just played one of the combined arms scenarios with several tanks and armored vehicles along with several of my teammates and lots of enemy AI and it ran beautifully! This kind of scenario would have ran terribly in Arma 2. Multiplayer still runs like crap but since these are not BIS servers I can't really blame them. All in all a 10/10 in my opinion.

it's not that easy, but good that you enjoy it - I do as well. :)

I definitely noticed a framerate improvement over what I was experiencing in dev branch over the weekend. I'm in the solid 30-35 range, all settings maxed, with 3500 view distance. That's a far cry from the teens I was bogging down into last week! :)

Final release is pathetic.

Can I ask what game you are referring to?

Because the game I am playing (Arma 3 btw) is pretty damn good!

Arma 3 is great, i love it, but i do also agree with some disapointmens, the lack of new content that many people was hoping for, for the final release is disapointing, i havent try the full release yet, but what i have read, there are nothing new, if thats true, i am disapointet too, 3.5 gb then there should be new stuff, what does these 3.5gb do ??

I am looking very much forward to try it out later, i do hope to see som free DLC's with more stuff soon, like the missing jets and what ever else is missing :(

i hope for the best

The Altis island takes some GB's - The 'missing' jets are when you spawn an independent or you spawn an empty plane in the editor.

After i have been on DEV branch up til launch there is not much new stuff - But i wait some time before reviewing the game.

Cheers

Final release is pathetic.

Yeah, I agree, overland truck racing was terribad :(

Love the game, but the data lock has left its marks. Many of those are invisible to the new user, though, unless they dig around in the config library or pay super close attention to details that many old time players are already used to (floating tanks, non-functional masks, vests, uniforms, stuff like that.)

Now I'm hoping for the data unlock to bring in immediate improvements in dev branch, and then quick patches to fix up all content prior to release of the campaign, as well as adding missing units such as fishermen, and quite a few other civilians whose clothes are not working, as well as additional uniforms for the factions that are configged right now but use models/textures from other pre-existing uniforms or just display underwear.

I'm admittedly going to agree with this -- the devs made it clear that the feature/data lock was going to happen, and as much as we can dislike just where they set the data lock, the content we got was apparently "what passed QA enough in time to meet the deadline", so I can forgive if everything else was waiting on account of that.

If that's not the case, though...

They could have delayed the "final" release and added more content. Those of us, the faithful, who know the ARMA series know that more content will be coming, if not from BI, from its community. Unfortunately people new to the series will probably not understand this. So bad on BI as to getting new people to try the game at its Official Release, when publicity has peaked.

I'd long held a suspicion that this was not an ALLOWED option.
Could they, really? I'm not sure, cause I don't see any logical explanation for this expect being forced into a deadline because funding.
I believe that it wasn't just funding, but how long and often they'd been delayed. Edited by Chortles

OTOH, seriously, what made the serie famous was the campaign in OFP, and the community content for everything else after. It's been very clear in DayZ case. Maybe they are just making it even more obvious....

In which case I suggest they promote the Steam Workshop for single mission FAR MORE EVIDENTLY in the GUI.

As a very long time veteran of the series from the first BI release of Operation Flash Point I am loving Arma3.

Still a bit of work to do around the edges but glad to be on the field instead of just checking release dates.

Top marks Arma3 team. These guys put it out there for this sim. Including jail time.

I am happy with what I got (great foundation) and prefer they just dial in a few things then add content if the community has not done so already.

Imagine what this game will be like in 6-12 months with all of the community addons and tweaks. STELLAR!!

Veterans know it is about the BIG picture not the little gripes that make this so monumental.

Been playing since OFP/OFP:R and while I love Arma III I'm a bit annoyed at the data lock. Be nice to give us what we paid for but I understand deadlines and time/money constraints.

Its pretty good but Altis more then splints in half FPS compared to Stratis for me. In alpha trees seemed to be the problem, now buildings. I just bought 7870 2GB, I know its not that great but recomended is 7750.

It should run decent on medium settings. I have most things on low, some on standard, no AA/AF/PP/PiP and VD on 900.

In Altis showcase missions I get 25-30 FPS, which is barely playable. While Stratis is running great, 50-60 FPS (limited to 60) in showcase missions.

Though granted, Altis showcases do have more units.

Btw, if anyone wants to limit FPS on AMD card and does not want to use VSync, try RadeonPro.

It has been stressed out so many times already, CPU is the thing that brings you Performance in Arma. The GPU will only help your FPS when you place yourself in the editor with 0 AI or game logic going on in the background and hit play. Apart from that scenario, your CPU will ALWAYS be the bottleneck.

I have been having full blast with the game too. Nothing serious to complain at least on SP side, only big villages can be quite heavy for performance when AI is moving in them. Else runs smooth. :ok:

As there are multiple threads covering user complaints, please keep this one free of negative feedback for the sake of "balance".

Thank you

For jets, I think you have to go to SCENARIOS and choose the independent side, the AAF or something like that and they have a jet. It is sooo much fun to fly too! I understand that some people are upset that they don't have all of the content that they promised but the campaign at least is coming later and there are going to be a gazillion mods anyway. I think it has a good amount of content now and with the addition of the campaign later there will be plenty of content to justify it.
