Enricksolt 12 Posted April 29, 2013 Since there is PhysX in the Arma 3 engine, why not implement breakable vehicle parts, like blades and tail for the helicopters and wings for airplanes? In Arma 2 if you touch something with the blades while on a chopper it just explode, now it only break the blades and they become intangible (sometimes they tear apart) so they can go through objects. It's something better but is not that good, another example is when you shoot a rocket to a helicopter's tail, it'll break the tail rotor but there will not be any visible damage to it. I'm not talking about procedural damage (the part break in the exact point where you hit it) but on a more simple way. If you crash a blade the single blade break off (not all the blades), if you hit a helicopter with a rocket on the tail, the tail break off and fall onto the ground and the helicopter become unusable, stuff like these. wipman 1 Posted April 29, 2013 Hi, that will be great, but how to add it?, defining the breakable parts on the model as a selection and then a couple of memory points?, one or more to produce sparks and other or others to produce smoke or even different colour smoke?; the problem of everything is how to add it into the game for make it work. Let's C ya
viper[cww] 14 Posted April 29, 2013 +1 Make a ticket on this. It could remove the use of a black/charred model aswell. I'd rather see disabled/crippled vehicles then black sooty ones all day long. the problem of everything is how to add it into the game for make it work. Let's C ya Anything is possible with this engine, it's just whether people are willing to put the time into implementing it.
babylonjoke 22 Posted April 29, 2013 In arma 2 there was some way and CSJ & Gnat knows... I guess however even if it's an huge ammount of work that would be absolutly great

ProfTournesol 956 Posted April 30, 2013 Very feasible with this engine :
toiletguy 1 Posted April 30, 2013 TOH has this implemented by removing the rotor blades away.
Smurf 12 Posted April 30, 2013 When you see the off-road pickup with many parts that seems to be random placed (skids, bumpers, trunk door), it may suggest that are single parts mounted on a frame and these things could fall off. But I'm not expecting to see it.
nik21 1 Posted April 30, 2013 Anything in this direction would be better than the current "destroyed" and "not destroyed" textures imo..
kilroy the nerd 14 Posted April 30, 2013 Any ticket yet? I'd sure vote for it.
fraczek 4 Posted May 1, 2013 VBS 2.0 with its PhysX implementation on Arma 2 engine does that already (at least they have shown a video with HMMWV's open doors and trunk flapping around and even breaking off during a rough ride purely by physics simulation, no scripting like IronFront), so it's seems to be possible in Arma 3. Whether it gets implemented...
