ГЗ-2975 Тигр (GAZ Tigr)

Recommended Posts

@vas,

I was talking about that project where if I was your employer, you wouldn't sleep/rest till it's finished :P

but for now lets keep it quiet, I don't want BI forum server crash, nor any image hosting site becoming unavailable due to activity ;)

on-topic:

and I think it would be enough if Abs's Tigrs had paint on them by Topas or Vas, that fancy look, i'm already dreaming :)

Honestly, I just want a pimped out Tigr with a tiger texture.

Hi all,

Okay, so I missed this week's update. I moved last month and I've been busy setting up my new place...I just bought a couch and moved it (which is why there was no update on Wednesday), and all I'm really missing is a 50" TV. Thank god Christmas/Boxing Day sales are coming up.

Anyway, y'all probably don't care about any of that and are here to see more pictures. This week, I've completed the seats for the inside. All of them. Modelling without blueprints is a bit of a pain in the ass, and so I'm forced to spend hours and hours on end trying to get tiny little details of what everything looks like from different angles, figuring out proportions, etc...all while ensuring that it actually can seat an Arma2 character just fine. I'm happy to report that after a long time of going through this process the seats are done. Click on the pictures for a larger version.

Classic view:

Closer look at the details:

I'm trying to pick the low hanging fruit, so for next week's update I'm hoping to show all the other details that will be in the cabin. I think that I'll be saving the console for last, because it is such a pain in the rear end. (seriously, you GAZ, build a fucking symettrical console!)

Anyway, I'm out.

Looking great Abs. Looking forward to more progress pics.

Thanks man. Tune in next Wednesday... ;)

Looking real good so far! I was wondering if you are going to do a woodland inner textures for the interior? Similar to this photo: http://data3.primeportal.net/trucks/yuri_pasholok/gaz_233036_spm-2_tiger/images/gaz_233036_spm-2_tiger_040_of_117.jpg

That would be real dope!

That's what I'm aiming for. The hard part is in determining how exactly to portray it. I feel that if I leave the interior cabin flat, the woodland texture won't look as nice. Anyway, still thinking about it.

Not enough polys! ;)

I know, right? It's only 6,054 polies. Don't worry...there'll be more. :)

Or you could do what devs of the real Tigr didn't think of - just leave that distracting peace of shit out and do a normal "monotone" dark'ish interior.

OT: I really hate this modern russian military trend of adding all that "poser" crap (понты as we say).

I mean seriously, who do you wanna hide from IN A CABIN. /rant mode off

Not sure why they did that but it seems like it's on all the newer models, so we'll more than likely end up keeping it. The reason for that is because there are no references as to what it looks like without it, so it's easier to just make it. Personally, I think it's pretty stupid too.

Anyway, sorry for there being no update last week, but I was sick. I'm feeling much better now, so here's this weeks update. I've worked on the side windows, blinds, and interior lights.

qC575.jpg

All that's left to model are:

  • Back doors Done.
  • Top hatches Done.
  • Dashboard
  • Front windows
  • Determine what parts of the outside can be seen from the inside, and delete the rest of the exterior.

So, the model itself is almost 100% done. Good news, no? :)

Anyway, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all. See you in the new year!

As usual, thanks for the kind replies. :)

So, since I've been late these past couple of updates, I thought I'd post this one early (in this part of the world). I've crossed a few items off the list on my previous post, and am working on the other items (namely the console) which you can see in these pictures. I don't think that I'm really missing anything major in the model, so it's suuuuuper close to being completed. Anyway, enough talk...here are the pics. Click for larger resolution.

yeah, class6+ protection mean no worry about GPGM gunfire[and even HMG without AP rounds].

police version come with class5+ lvl, but thats basically for ecomocial reasons and easily upgradeable.

Army got both Class3 and Class5 -armored cars.

manufacturers offer about 9 different armored cars here.

Tigr was made/constructed initially for Iordan king

I know not much about 3D modelling but love seeing renders like above, they are a thing off beauty and to me they always look better than in-game fully textured, reminds me of when I used to make plastic models as a kid... Nice work Abs.

Texturing now officially started.

Many elements are there just as placeholders (wheels; these will be done as last) for now and it's merely the beginning )not full 2hrs of interrupted work), but it's progress (even if early stage) worth making news of.

I just put it there to test how a decal / emblem or simply an additional layer would look between the base olive paint and dirt layers.

It's just for tests.

The real life Tigr had red stars painted for the Victory Day parade.

Indeed. I don't usually play the Ruskies, but I gotta say, they have some cool equipment and I'm tempted to switch sides.

Yeah, looks ok...

Heh...I think you're interior looks mighty fine. I've got myself questioning my sanity and asking myself why I decided to make it with such detail. You kinda get sick of it fast.

Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear you got banned. Maybe don't be a dick about jailed people next time.

I think it's part of the reason why I'm just a modeller and not a texturer. I like the act of creating these models, and can't get any joy out of texturing them. When I was a kid my parents would buy me the plastic kits, but no paints. I didn't make the connection until you mentioned it. Anyway, enough pseduo-psychological visits down memory lane. Glad you like it. :)

planning to add any guns to this bad boy? ;D

As of right now, this is the only version I have planned. Adding guns isn't as simple as adding just a turret; it requires reworking the interior, and I'm afraid that there are other projects that I must finish before revisiting the Tigr.

========

As I said, I've grown sick of modelling the interior for now, so this week I've been working on getting it in-game and functional. It drives, has working suspension, honks, has sounds, tire damage, and functional lights. Here's what it looks like in game:

Will keep you updated with progress as it happens.
