Transparent face?

Well, I was just wondering. Since we can customize faces... is there any way to make one trasnparent? It would be funny playing with an invisible man lol.

I dont think so...the absence of a face file seems to result in a white face...I would imagaine that even if you can create a transparency that it would look white.

Its not neccesarily that abscence of it whn you have a white one. White is technically a color. Abscense of it would be invisible. I remember in HL and CS that you cout make custom logos. Well, blue 255 was the transparency color. So if you wanted a design, it didnt HAVE to be on a backround. I was wondering if OFP has anything like this.

I get what u mean about the half life thing but i think it would work more like making a transparant skin for an HL model but then again maybe not confused.gif

I think it would be most likey white too. I've seen the models painted with missing textures and it's just flat white. Remember with transparent logos you see through to what the logo is on. With the model you would see through to the model, which is a solid object in OFP, and you would see the white background.

How? If you use a custom face in multi, only you see it. Everyone else sees the textures on their computer. It's like when a guy made a transparent preditor skin for GR. Everyone cried foul and said it would ruin multi, not remembering only the guy with it on his computer sees ( or doesn't see) the skins, not any one else.

im not sure how the faces work as i only use the game ones but you just need to add alpha chanesl (what's used to texture windows) when it cant find a texture its white and when theres no texture its a kind of grey, but youd only get that if you made a whole new human model

Actually OFP transfers all the custom faces in multiplayer and your custom face is visible to everyone else, thats the whole point of the feature tounge.gif

I just started playing Multi the other night.  I almost jumped out of my seat when some guy got into the back of an UAZ with me and he had a red eyed terminator face!

I blinked and went 'Wow. Custome faces'  Now I need to figure out how to stick my own face on an OFP character and actually make it look decent

I'm not talking about the WHOLE model being invisisvle just the face. BTW.. What is an alpha channel?

If some1 knows DONT TELL NO1, thats so cheating, even thoe the body is visible, if u stay in a bush and ur head sticks out, no1 would be able to detect u as the rest of body is behind bush. Thats totally cheatin, and let me call u CHEATER

You only get the "white" when there is NO texture. So with transparent textures, you don't get to see this "white".

There are two ways for transparency: opaque transparency and alpha channel. Opaque transparency means that a pixel is either visible or invisible. By adding an alpha channel to a picture, you can decide "how much" a pixel will be visible (e.g. 60% or 85%, etc...).

Since custom faces can be only in JPG format, there is no way to use transparent faces (JPG format does not support any form of transparency).

I think a lonely helmet or cap sticking out of a bush would be even more obvious than a good textured camo face. Just shoot it. smile.gif

ale. shhhhh. Its not cheting when its made available to the public. IF they don't want something like this, they can fix it in the next patch. And algeda. Please explain. What is an "alpha channel"? How do I add them? What format can I add them to? What format are they supported in? etc.. etc..

Speaking of custom faces, I have problems with mine be transfered to other players when I join a multi game. Its just white. However, when I host, they all get my face.

I'm behund a linksys router so I figure it might be a problem with ports. I've cleared a lot but it still wont work. Any one know how to fix my problem?

I would definitely think of it as cheating, that was my first thought when seeing the post, but as people have been really mean to me this week I didn't want to make a reply until someone else had biggrin.gif

On custom tags there is a way to make parts of it transparent. Is there a way to implement this in the custom face?

I dont at the moment. Luckily, I work for a company that sells a lot of Digital Still Cameras, so I can get one fairly easily.

Is there a good resolution/angle/backround to use? I've seen how you do custom faces...so should I take side shots as well?

Placebo, just give all those who make fun of you a temp ban biggrin.gif . Anyway to add a custom face name your 256x256 pixel image (i belive hose are the right proportions). Name it FACE.JPG and place it in c:.......Ofperation Flashpoint/users/your name

fully lit. directly at the face. no smile. straight face. no glasses. resolution doesnt matter. I prefer as large as possible because i can always resize down, but not up well.

also, profile and rear shots of the head if you dont want generic versions smile.gif
