Mr. Charles 22 Posted March 19, 2013 How good is this game? The UI is pretty fugly compared to what i saw in SC5 and i think the performance with bigger cities gets pretty bad, but aside from that it's a very nice game.
Deadfast 43 Posted March 19, 2013 I read this new Sim City is built pretty much like an MMO and they plan to keep making additions and improvements. I for one am excited :) No, it's not. Unless you subscribe to EA's definition which makes every game that has statistics one can view online an MMO. As for the improvements, I can believe that. Just don't expect them to be free. jblackrupert 14 Posted March 28, 2013 EA throwing Maxis under the bus http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/03/28/gdc-2013-ea-miniboss-says-drm-is-a-failed-dead-end-strategy One of the comments: What? Who the hell accidentally designs a game they did not set out to make? Did the gaming fairies come along in the night and rearrange the fucking code? Apparently they did according to EA. mrcash2009 0 Posted March 28, 2013 So that twerp expects us to believe Maxis slipped it in and they happily released it and then got angry along with the customers about Maxis once customers and EA realised it was a shit what Maxis did? I have read it all now. Someone should have asked him, "if this is the case, why did you undermine paying customers with games you sold for free as a result of Maxis mistake pulling more custom under Origin?" *silence* ........ no doubt. I can officially state EA are twats.
Tonci87 163 Posted March 28, 2013 Their main problem was that they made a MMO game out of a game that everyone expected to be a traditional SP Game. And I bet that wasn´t Maxis idea
mr_centipede 31 Posted March 28, 2013 Are they playing the blame game now? I certainly would like to hear comment from Maxis about this...
Tonci87 163 Posted March 28, 2013 Are they playing the blame game now? I certainly would like to hear comment from Maxis about this... There won´t be a comment from Maxis. They get their payment from EA and if EA says "jump" all they will do is to ask "how high". If EA says it was teir fault, then they will either admit it and promise to make it better with the next game, or remain silent wich is more likely.
krycek 349 Posted March 31, 2013 Lol we're talking about EA here, these are the guys who closed a lot of talented studios and kept the derp ones thinking to make easy bucks, well that worked until now when the bubble kinda imploded.EA playing victim now??I can imagine their line "but...but...but we tried to make a drm free great game and big evil Maxis sabotaged us".Not that I pity Maxis,if you swim with sharks expect to be bitten by the ass one day. JdB 151 Posted March 31, 2013 If EA says it was teir fault, then they will either admit it and promise to make it better with the next game, or remain silent wich is more likely. Promise to "correct all of the mistakes in the next installment of the franchise", it's what they do every time. That's why they have such a bad reputation even for gaming industry standards. Nicholas 5 Posted April 19, 2013 (edited) At least it is a product that most people (should) buy. I just so happen to use Crest toothpaste, no issue here with their marketing strategy. Would you rather have them include DLC codes with candy bars, pop, and chips? I mean, do you not buy toothpaste on a regular basis? Do you not brush your teeth? mrcash2009 0 Posted April 19, 2013 So now this is a health moral issue? Moral issues and EA ... thats a good one.
Tonci87 163 Posted April 20, 2013 Well to me uit´s very obvious what is happening here. There are not enough people buying/playing this game to justify any DLC development so they try to get the money from elsewhere to keep the servers running. On a side note, EA has announced that Sim social servers will be shut down after less than a year´s service. I guess the same will happen with Sim CIty. So all the poeple who bought it at full price will be stuck with a game they can´t play.
nodunit 397 Posted April 21, 2013 Aaaaanother perfect example of why always on is the biggest bullshit there is. I wonder who is leading EA..I don't blame them for wanting to make Sim City a service, add an online feature by all means, I'm sure several people want to build cities with their friends...but that should be a multiplayer OPTION rather than forced, gamers don't like to be forced and anyone with any sense of foresight should see that always on has maaaaaany nasty inhibits for company and consumer alike.. Oh well could be worse, could be like the chips and soft drinks halo campaign.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted April 21, 2013 As long as people do buy and "like" such games publishers aren't going to change their plans. Blame those who 'OMG - can't wait!!!' and hype games just because of the shiny screens/trailers aka marketing/PR. Kinda like claiming that any reincarnation of an successful title/series will be automatically great/superior or even an instant-bestseller (AAA title) ... krycek 349 Posted April 22, 2013 That's why I like these guys, related to Simcity but also to the herpa derpa gaming press: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/04/22/the-power-of-silence-why-the-simcity-story-went-away/
rundll.exe 12 Posted April 23, 2013 This sums up the EA attitude pretty well::p http://pics.kuvaton.com/kuvei/inside_ea.jpg "The launch cash is in, lets fool around now."
mrcash2009 0 Posted April 25, 2013 Maybe this is what they have to resort to for the staff as "safe rooms" with low moral having to push the company mantra while knowing how bad the practice actually is. If nothing this is the sort of team based moral for the support line workers who must have a wonderful time.
