Maddmatt 1 Posted January 11, 2012 (edited) I assume he is talking about how much more fluid they are, but I still wouldn't call them "arcady". Just more fluid. Then they are more fluid, not "arcade". Having clunky animations is not "realistic"/"simulation". It makes perfect sense, he means the animations are like BF3. DUH Can we bunnyhop too? It does not make perfect sense. It's just the way some "hardcore simulation players" describe anything that's different and I get annoyed with it. "Arcade" is not an adjective :) Re: the animations - the poster could also be referring to weapon reload animations, which we have been told are improved over our feed-tray-opening-and-magic-hand-waving. Are you telling me that magical hand waving to reload weapons is "simulation" and properly animating it is "arcade"? :p Hope we get some actual official info soon, everyone getting excited over this just shows how desperate we are :) Edited January 11, 2012 by Maddmatt
4 IN 1 0 Posted January 11, 2012 The word I would like to hear is "magpul-ish", not "arcade" :p
Flash Thunder 10 Posted January 11, 2012 Bodies that fly standing up after shooting them with a SMAW is also simulation, and the 12 year old voice actors are realistic!!1!12 I know im desperate for some news. This is more then an addiction BIS!
frostwyrm333 1 Posted January 11, 2012 fluid animations could be the result of the new animation system. I considered delays before changing movement direction to be realistic but I bet its only because the animation must play through.
Cripsis 10 Posted January 11, 2012 The comments that really caught my attention were - kinda looks like arma2 but a million times better it was on a nice big HD screen also and really looked f'kin incredible! they also made it much more "fluent" compared to arma2. It just looks smooth, no old arma2 jolt walking feeling. Assuming it isn't a bogus post the new animations must look superb.
frostwyrm333 1 Posted January 11, 2012 tomorrow, everything shall be revealed. Or not
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted January 11, 2012 Are you telling me that magical hand waving to reload weapons is "simulation" and properly animating it is "arcade"? Not quite, heh. :) I was more pointing out that the arcade-style games have long been associated with far more detailed (read: superior) reload/weapon animations. Hence, animations being "more arcade" could mean some nifty reload moves.
rye1 22 Posted January 11, 2012 This is true. But don't try be logical with a man who reverts straight to the bunnyhopping, hoping to start a game politics flamewar.
Cdogwoof 11 Posted January 11, 2012 I doubt this is real just because i have been in 2 closed beta's so far and in both you are not allowed to even say that you were part of it.
Maio 293 Posted January 11, 2012 I doubt this is real just because i have been in 2 closed beta's so far and in both you are not allowed to even say that you were part of it. True that, but then again this was not a closed beta, or was it? ETA 1 day This one better be public BIS. WEEE teh community demand it!
metalcraze 290 Posted January 11, 2012 Well if BIS will show me a floating camera ("more arcade movement") in whatever video is coming instead of a proper movement - ArmA series is over for me.

No chance that's ever gonna happen, BIS don't want to see a angry horde armed with pitchforks, torches and guillotine storming their office.
frostwyrm333 1 Posted January 11, 2012 Its "new awesome feature that will destroy the game" time. @Cdogwoof So by saying this you are not going to be in third beta? So, tomorrow is unveil time. Since you are talking about betas, could you tell something cryptic about it? How did you got selected?
maddogx 13 Posted January 11, 2012 Its "new awesome feature that will destroy the game" time. @Cdogwoof So by saying this you are not going to be in third beta? So, tomorrow is unveil time. Since you are talking about betas, could you tell something cryptic about it? How did you got selected? I believe Cdogwoof is talking about betas in general, not Arma3 specifically. I've been in closed betas for games before, and in my experience it's generally a matter of knowing the right people, or just being in the right place at the right time, as they say. :) Also, there are beta testing groups like CombatTesting where you can apply to join. bigpickle 0 Posted January 11, 2012 (edited) There will be a demo on Thursday supposedly dunno if its Beta or not and how this guy would be able to see it earlier. When you say demo do you mean public player demo or a demonstration of a beta like at E3. Also about that guys report Im in Brum and i didnt see any 'Crazy Programming Convention' being advertised, also surely a BI rep would have had to be there to demonstrate it? So official word would be coming soon about the event surely if it was legit. One last thing, and this is remote but, a programmer without a mobile phone? (to film Arma3 on) :p Mine goes everywhere with me. Edited January 11, 2012 by Bigpickle
wipman 1 Posted January 11, 2012 Hi, if there were any kind of Beta Demo or just a true Demo... BIS would had advertised it release properly to raise the hype, enforce the publicity and attract possible customers; i don't spect any kind of playable material before the game's release, that's how BIS has been doing the things this last 10 years. Let's C ya
maddogx 13 Posted January 11, 2012 How the hell do people get the idea that there could be a playable demo tomorrow? The game doesn't even have a fixed release date yet, and we're still very far away from "summer 2012".
frostwyrm333 1 Posted January 11, 2012 (edited) they are going to show playable demo-nstration tomorrow, the rest is speculation and misinformation. Edited January 11, 2012 by frostwyrm333

bigpickle 0 Posted January 11, 2012 Thought it would be random that they would launch a demo without advertising it, if fact its about as random as the guy in the link on page 1 :) honestly though but i am bit sad now :( even though i knew there was no chance lol
