domokun 515 Posted February 14, 2012 Honestly I think making a RIB any more agile that the default is fairly unrealistic. You have to remember just how heavy they are and inertia caused by the fluid mechanics of water. They're not cars.
hcpookie 3770 Posted August 17, 2012 Update - see first post! :) v1.3: 8/17/2012 -NEW: Updated high-res texture from Vico (from Team F.S.F http://www.clan-gign.net/~fsfzone/) Thanks Vico! :) -FIX: Some minor Pilot View LOD issues (missing sections). -IMPROVED: Smoke launcher grenade count and placement now with larger and thicker circle of smoke. m1n1d0u 29 Posted August 17, 2012 i tested it and i don't see a great improvement that you speak in the texture is it normal ?
hcpookie 3770 Posted August 18, 2012 The improvement is going to be mostly along the sides of the hull. I'm working on completing the ammo belt animations and then I think I'll be done with these.
gatordev 219 Posted August 19, 2012 I can't remember if this was addressed before, but if you're updating this addon (which I very much like), is there any chance you can have the hull of the boat sit a little lower in the water. The freeboard (distance between the waterline and the top of the hull) is a little high compared to reality and makes the addon look like it's sitting abnormally high. If this isn't an option, so be it, and it's still a great addition, but figured I'd give my two cents. ETA: Somehow I didn't see the updated addon until after I posted. If you've already addressed this, my apologies.
McLupo 118 Posted August 19, 2012 Hi mates, i´m thinking about a mission with this awesome and wonderful AddOn, because it offers a lot of potential to work out a specific mission. Great work, thanks for the effort. I wrote a review today for the german community about the SOC-R Special Operations Craft - Riverene Boat v1.3 to point out your special idea. Have a look to the nice pictures for showcase. http://www.arma2base.de/include.php?path=forumsthread&threadid=1300 Big thank you and keep it up! Best regards McLupo
Kyle_K_ski 1 Posted August 20, 2012 Tried out the latest release last night. Wow! GREAT work. Thank you for it! If there's one request that I'd like to make for the next release (if there is one), is to have Marines and Army SF units/crew more varied in their loadouts. Otherwise, this mod is just about perfect to me.
hcpookie 3770 Posted August 22, 2012 The hull's waterline has to be where it is due to the way waves will penetrate the model. Otherwise it will look like it is sinking :) McLupo thanks for that write-up! I'll have you know I'm working on the final (?) tweaks to get the ammo belt animations completed. I think once that is done these should be "finished"
[aps]gnat 28 Posted August 22, 2012 hcpookie, are you aware theres an "anti-water" texture that makes water disappear inside a hull ? As used on BIS addons ca\water\data\antiwater_ca.tga
hcpookie 3770 Posted August 22, 2012 So they do - thanks Gnat! That's very interesting and I'm surprised I missed this. Looking at the sample RHIB models, it looks like as long as that is above the top of the waves the water won't be shown. That seems like an easy enough addition. I suppose I need to lower the "zamerny" aim point to make the model lower?
hcpookie 3770 Posted August 23, 2012 Figured it out. Adjusted the center of mass in the Geo LOD to lower it in the water. See first post for download link and MLODs! v1.4 released! Hopefully last update :) -NEW: Ammo belt end (bullet hide) animations -NEW: Stringtable localizations -IMPROVED: Vehicle hull lowered in water

Brainbug 10 Posted August 23, 2012 You said you google-translated the stringtable.xml, and I have to admit it indeed sounds like it ;) I've translated the english lines properly into German: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Project name="POOK_SOCR"> <Package name="POOK_SOCR"> <Container name="STR_DISP"> <Key ID="STR_POS_LF_Gunner"> <English>left front gunner</English> <German>Bordschütze vorne links</German> <Italian>mitragliere anteriore sinistro</Italian> <Spanish>artillero delantero izquierdo</Spanish> <French>mitrailleur front de gauche</French> <Czech>Levá pÅ™ednà stÅ™elec</Czech> <Russian>Левый фронт наводчика</Russian> <Polish>Lewy przedni gunner</Polish> <Hungarian>bal elülsÅ‘ gunner</Hungarian> </Key> <Key ID="STR_POS_RF_Gunner"> <English>right front gunner</English> <German>Bordschütze vorne rechts</German> <Italian>mitragliere anteriore destro</Italian> <Spanish>artillero delantero derecho</Spanish> <French>artilleur avant droite</French> <Czech>pravé pÅ™ednà stÅ™elec</Czech> <Russian>правой передней наводчика</Russian> <Polish>prawo przednich gunner</Polish> <Hungarian>jobb elülsÅ‘ gunner</Hungarian> </Key> <Key ID="STR_POS_LB_Gunner"> <English>left side gunner</English> <German>Bordschütze links</German> <Italian>mitragliere laterale sinistro</Italian> <Spanish>artillero del lado izquierdo</Spanish> <French>canonnier de la gauche</French> <Czech>Levý boÄnà stÅ™elec</Czech> <Russian>Ð›ÐµÐ²Ð°Ñ Ñторона наводчика</Russian> <Polish>po lewej stronie gunner</Polish> <Hungarian>bal oldali gunner</Hungarian> </Key> <Key ID="STR_POS_RB_Gunner"> <English>right side gunner</English> <German>Bordschütze rechts</German> <Italian>mitragliere laterale destro</Italian> <Spanish>artillero del lado derecho</Spanish> <French>canonnier de la droite</French> <Czech>pravá strana stÅ™elec</Czech> <Russian>Ñправа наводчик</Russian> <Polish>po prawej stronie gunner</Polish> <Hungarian>jobb oldali gunner</Hungarian> </Key> <Key ID="STR_pook_lowermast"> <English>Lower Radar Mast</English> <German>Radarantenne absenken</German> <Italian>Inferiore dell'albero Radar</Italian> <Spanish>Baje el mástil del Radar</Spanish> <French>Mât de Radar inférieur</French> <Czech>Dolnà Radar stěžeň</Czech> <Russian>ÐижнÑÑ Ñ€Ð°Ð´Ð°Ñ€ мачта</Russian> <Polish>Niższy maszt Radar</Polish> <Hungarian>Mast. I was also wondering if it would be more suitable not to say "front" and "right" but "bow" and "starboard" and so on, like traditionally on ships. But maybe this boat is too small for nautical language, or only used by landlubbers ;) I don't know.

gatordev 219 Posted August 30, 2012 -FIX: Some Turret shield textures Does this, by any chance, fix the issue of being able to shoot through the shields on the side guns? With 1.4, you can kill the gunner even though you're "hitting" the bullet deflector/shield thingies.
SavageCDN 231 Posted August 30, 2012 Thanks for keeping these updated... fit perfectly on Lingor Island :p

chrisb 196 Posted September 3, 2012 Possibly one of the best terrains for river type missions imo is ‘VTE_BRA’, its atmospheric at night or indeed during the day, plus the environment sounds are really good. You can sail in from S/SW and go all the way through a really intricate winding network of rivers with deep cuttings, narrow overgrown sections, really high road bridges and hidden landing spots then exit N/NE, takes a good while getting to know the rivers and all the offshoots, but its well worth it for spec op type missions. The Vietnamese jungle setting is great (could be anywhere you like), play as modern upto date, these socr boats fit the bill exactly... Thanks for this great addon.. :)

hcpookie 3770 Posted September 5, 2012 I'll have to check that out! The main places we've been playing with them is Lingor, Panthera and the CWR2 islands - they fit quite nicely in those places. Now that I fixed the bullet-proof shields I want to revisit some problematic places on those islands!
