Jaypaul9 10 Posted September 20, 2011 In your opinion what's the most realistic sim? Arma definitely isn't. Vbs2? Your thoughts?

ArmAriffic 10 Posted September 20, 2011 (edited) Infantry?, Jets?, Helicopters?, Glowing Cows? My opinion Excluding VBS2 Infantry - ArmA 2 Jets - DCS A10C Helicopters - DCS Black Shark Not sure of tank sims (haven't played any) but i'm pretty sure its not arma :) Edited September 20, 2011 by ArmAriffic

HyperU2 11 Posted September 20, 2011 I enjoy realistic simulations and other oxymorons.
jagheterjan 10 Posted September 20, 2011 Minesweeper! I think most Minesweepers who play ArmA II will agree with me.
metalcraze 290 Posted September 20, 2011 Jets - DCS A10C Helicopters - DCS Black Shark You are wrong - those games don't have realistic tanks and thus are not realistic sims
celery 8 Posted September 20, 2011 If the fidelity of simulation is the only criterion, I'd say iRacing. From what I've read, it's as close to real driving you can get without stepping into an actual car. Flying and other sims usually need to use simplified algorithms and gameplay solutions. Beagle 684 Posted September 20, 2011 (edited) The original Steel Beasts was a fine example, but still lacking a lot. Tank and IFV Combat is not that bad in DCS when you set it up and just watch it...much better compared to ArmA. Falcon 4.0 AF, DCS-Blackshark, Rise of Flight, Lock On FC 2.0, IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946..all good and true Simulations...OFP, ArmA is and always was more like a better, bigger scale and more sophisticated DID "Wargasm". except that had ;) and cool future tanks with Energy weapons in the later stages. I like it to make my way all over the upgrading to challengers, T-90s and Leopards IIs ans then quiring the futuristic MBTs and IFV...as well as the hellfire firing Infantry. And don't forget the ... ?But this was Simulation I fell in love with...at the cost of a female relationship, had to save Scandinavia from the russians had no time for the girl. Noraf 0 Posted September 20, 2011 if you want realism, i think you'd need to look at something like this...... ;)
Beagle 684 Posted September 20, 2011 (edited) if you want realism, i think you'd need to look at something like this...... ;)Lufthansa Flight Instructores stated several times that even the full motion flight simulators are not able to simulate true flight envelopes. The simulation part behind it is not much better than MS Flight Simulator for your Home PC. These Simulators are procedure simulators not true physics simulators. In fact some "games" do already better compared to this full motion simulators in pure physical flight and airfoils simulation. The approval times for new software usually makes the full simulators outdated. Edited September 20, 2011 by Beagle
gossamersolid 155 Posted September 20, 2011 Holy crap I remember seeing that game a long time ago, but NEVER playing it.
nkenny 1057 Posted September 20, 2011 Well as far as simulators go for a combination of both accuracy and design concept compatible with gaming platforms go I've always had a soft spot for
hellfire257 3 Posted September 20, 2011 You are wrong - those games don't have realistic tanks and thus are not realistic sims He did say it was an opinion. Is Beagle rightly says, pay attention to the armored combat going on below you next time and you might just notice that it is much better than ARMAs.
Beagle 684 Posted September 20, 2011 Holy crap I remember seeing that game a long time ago, but NEVER playing it.You missed an Inspiration...now you have to wait for ArmA III...it's the potential "Wargasm II" ;)The YouTube videos don't do the game right, most of the scenarios in campaign had a much more traditional combat feel especially in the low tech continents. I'm looking forward to the the plasma gun ProTank again in A3 ;)
