linkinx 1 Posted July 2, 2013 I Hope to see a Stealth bomber in ArmA 3 that the radar can not pick up and can't be locked on (auto-targeted) too from the ground. And I really hope for some new bomb/missile types. For one a bomb that explodes above ground into hundreds of little explosions (don't know the official name for that type!). Cluster bomb?
b00tsy 28 Posted July 2, 2013 (edited) I looked it up on youtube and yes I mean the cluster bomb :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMYnWTd8v8M And off topic, saw also this demonstration of the US airforce bombing the shit out of a location. Some visual joy for the ArmA jet fighters out there :D Edited July 2, 2013 by B00tsy
GrumpyGunner 10 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm hoping we get c-17s or the A400m more than I'm looking forward to jets to be honest. Now I'm not saying I don't like jet fighters of course but I personally enjoy playing on the big transports more.Paradroping, being the loadmaster etc.I believe it's a critical part to operations:Being able to drop supplies, armored vehicles, provide a means of transportation for long distance.I hope they really make the best out of transports. The whole phase of opening the back and people jumping out, seeing the ammoboxes slide out...Ah yes I can see it now. >:D
nimrod123 11 Posted July 4, 2013 i want a super tanco (those prop driven CAS planes that iraq has (ithink)) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_EMB_314_Super_Tucano

Alistair 10 Posted July 4, 2013 i want a super tanco (those prop driven CAS planes that iraq has (ithink))http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_EMB_314_Super_Tucano It would be great to have a coin aircraft in the game. Especially the Super Tucano, brazilian made aircraft for counter insurgency ops. ;D Too bad its too old for the game. :(
twistking 204 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Especially the Super Tucano [...]Too bad its too old for the game. :( fantastic aircraft! in armaverse it could be still in use as a trainer or as cas-aircraft of the green faction. i suppose that the greens will not have the same military force as blue and red. would also make sense as some sort of EW-aircraft, or armed recon, or flying FAC. yay! super tucano with digital camo! You know,i am not a big fan of the futuristic setting, but it leaves a really diverse amount of choices for the devs, and thats great. As you said, since its Armaverse and its in the future, it could be added, and that would be awesome. ;) I would also like to see the Qaher 313,the iranian stealth-fighter project. It has been seen as a joke by specialists, but again, we are talking about armaverse. chortles 263 Posted July 4, 2013 @ Alistair: I'd vote it up. :D
twistking 204 Posted July 5, 2013 if you watched the youtube videos of this thing, you would come to the conclusion, that it's to unreal even for the armaverse! you don't have to be an expert, to see that this thing is fake.
Alistair 10 Posted July 5, 2013 I wonder why Opfor would be operating the L-159. Is there any background for this yet? @twistking Nothing is too unreal for the armaverse! ;)
nimrod123 11 Posted July 5, 2013 I wonder why Opfor would be operating the L-159.Is there any background for this yet? @twistking Nothing is too unreal for the armaverse! ;) the L-159 is a cezch light fighter (fufilling a similar role to the supper tanco) that they are very keen to sell to all comers, hence the US ban on trading of it. its not unlikely that it will be sold to middleeastern nations to provide a cheap yet decent light jet multi role fighter. as to the super tanco being to old, its only just entered into trials (along with some of its contemporaries) to become a cheap CAS plane for SOCOM
twistking 204 Posted July 5, 2013 so it shall be: i will post about the super tucano in the community-wishes thread. ;)
GrumpyGunner 10 Posted July 6, 2013 This would be great:
Alistair 10 Posted July 6, 2013 This would be great: I wish we had animations like the ramp opening, and the soldiers standing up to jump. They exist in VBS2, so its not impossible to make. :)
trent 14 Posted July 7, 2013 I wonder why Opfor would be operating the L-159. Because BIS made a model for Arma 2 DLC, which is only a modified model of the L-39 from Operation Arrowhead, therefore they can recycle the assets.
Dannehtbh 10 Posted July 7, 2013 Planes would be cool :D
Kristian 47 Posted July 7, 2013 You know what would be cool? Since ArmA2 had the C130, we need some big planes to deliver cargo and troops. So obvious choice would be something like this :
Kieran 11 Posted July 7, 2013 That would be pretty sweet Kristain. also a sea plane would be pretty epic.
Ash712 1 Posted July 7, 2013 @ OP: You started a new thread to answer a question that would have taken you all of 5 seconds to answer for yourself...(Google) great job! Now this has become a whish-list/discussion thread about planes...odd. Sasuke 1 Posted July 7, 2013 In my experience, I've been extremely lucky to play VBS2 VTK at an Air Force Base in Australia, with at least 45 other Air Force Cadets. I must say, the game goes into extreme detail with every little point in terms of mechanics, even if the graphics do come up a little short. So I will say this: It is realistic. It looks fantastic. It is amazing. Honestly, ArmA comes close, but just a little bit short. I can see BIS' colleagues are putting more effort into VBS than ArmA. (And it wouldn't be the same without Aircraft, being stuck on the ground in VBS would suck, and same for ArmA)
[evo] dan 79 Posted July 7, 2013 I wonder if the PhysX thing works, seems to work with helis and vehicles on ships, but not for people being on the ship, and we don't know if it works between vehicles and aircraft yet either. Hopefully it will be something that BIS can sort out with NVidia to get working.
chortles 263 Posted July 7, 2013 Honestly, ArmA comes close, but just a little bit short. I can see BIS' colleagues are putting more effort into VBS than ArmA.I wouldn't accuse Arma 3's devs of not "putting in enough effort". As Rocket pointed out, there's way more VBS devs:But a vast amount of work went into VBS, employing thousands if not tens of thousands of people worldwide. VBS is developed by a separate company, for a very specific purpose. The branches of the engine are very, very different. Drastically so. VBS and ArmA are more like cousins than brothers. And DayZ is like a second cousin. I specifically looked into shooting from cars when I was working on ArmA3. Often the solution used in VBS suits an actual military simulator very well - but is next to useless in an FPS. Meaning it needs to be redone from scratch, meaning it needs to be prioritized against other kinds of work. Most of the development team are actually diehard arma fans who joined the company to work on the product, and would love this stuff too. The reality is that you can't do everything, and things not done generally have a good reason.
nimrod123 11 Posted July 8, 2013 I wouldn't accuse Arma 3's devs of not "putting in enough effort". As Rocket pointed out, there's way more VBS devs: also another point is that the miltary has a far higher tolerence for non-gamebreaking bugs. they also care more about functionality more then style.
