dr_zakharotta 10 Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) So today, I decided to break the habit of playing with a mouse and decided to go ahead with the controller. OMG!! maybe cuz my fingers are more PS3 accustomed (been a while since I played FPSs on PC Raven Shield ages ago). So, I mapped the controller and decided to give a go at the armory. I almost won two assault missions, won 2 skeet shooting and range shooting missions, won an assassination mission by crawling my way to the mark (lol @ the mark :D. Overall I'd say I'll continue infantryman's tasks with the box controller. The beauty of it also that the analogue sticks mimic every tiny movement and I feel less angled (or rather robotic) with the controller. Smooth transitions and cover usage became easier and target acquisition and concentrating fire became easy. I'll post a vid as an edit to this thread to encourage you guys. Now share your opinions. RDHnU9nmnvo sadly enough, adobe premiere elements (which I own with OEM license) wont allow me to make a split video of my actual controlling vs. game movement. Romeo_Delta 10 Posted April 9, 2011 The mouse is more precise for aiming, the keyboard has more buttons that are able to be mapped.
kremator 1065 Posted April 9, 2011 Mouse + keyboard wins every time.
metalcraze 290 Posted April 9, 2011 What's the point in playing a shooter with a gamepad when it makes you ten times slower and just as less precise?
Phantom Six 25 Posted April 9, 2011 I play with the 360 controller, but then it's because it's more easier on my wrist. Got carpal tunnel from excessive use of the mouse, so I went keyboard + controller.

vohk 10 Posted April 10, 2011 Would you please climb on this stake and tie yourself up? No reason. Don't mind the firewood. Seriously though, it's 70% comfort zone and 30% preference. There are good points to both, although I would never give away the precision of a mouse for Arma. On the other hand, I think a mouse paired with a analogue stick/keypad combo would be pretty nice.. liquidpinky 11 Posted April 10, 2011 I use controller and mouse instead of keyboard and mouse. Then you have the best of both worlds, analogue movement control and superior mouse aiming. Not to mention both are wireless so I can sit pretty comfortably. Only time the aim stick on the controller is handy is for tank gunning, easier to hold on the direction you want to turn. Mr. Charles 22 Posted April 10, 2011 Man, it is always the same with you guys. He tells us he is enjoying the game this way more and you tell him, that he is talking absolute garbage and that his way of playing is totally retarded. He was just making his point, jeez. Arksa 10 Posted April 10, 2011 But he's telling us to try to play this game with 360 controller, what do you except? I use it for flying, which it is great at, but shooting? Hell no.

mrcash2009 0 Posted April 10, 2011 Well I have 360 controller and in no way would I ever use it other than flight and also driving is pretty nice too. But for shooting as infantry!? "For me" absolutely no way on earth is it good for that, "for you" ... I commend you mate if you find it better in some way though, I could not possibly get a "feel" for it at all using anything other than KB/Mouse though. Daniel 0 Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Sorry but it looks really slow and clumsy. I'd really recommend spending a bit more time in first person view with a mouse. Eventually you get a really good sense of space and aiming gets faster. I'd like to see a vid of some street or house to house combat with a console controller. dr_zakharotta 10 Posted April 10, 2011 Dont you find that youre movement is slower than with a mouse? No, because I'm a console guy in the first place, and I placed sensitivity to a comfortable position. /me wants to see this video... You now have it. What's the point in playing a shooter with a gamepad when it makes you ten times slower and just as less precise? Check my vid. The mouse is more precise for aiming, the keyboard has more buttons that are able to be mapped. They're equally the same, and I dont have to hit something with the sticks for sudden turns, unlike with mouse But he's telling us to try to play this game with 360 controller, what do you except?I expect you to try and input if you feel different. Maybe I'm pissing you off guys, but it was just a suggestion. JESUS!! I use it for flying, which it is great at, but shooting? Hell no. I rest my case I can't wait for that! ^^ Mouse+Keyboard is BI-Winning ! dr_zakharotta 10 Posted April 10, 2011 no I do, but I'm more accustomed to sticks, rather than mouse.
