Operation Flashpoint elite was a great game. Then codemasters came along and destroyed the games reputation. Operation flashpoint: DR, terrible. They didn't take any of the players advice and the game effectivly died a month after release.

This game on the other hand looks to me alot better then OFDR and lets face it more people play Xbox live and Psn then computer users these days.

So basicly the market is open for a game like this.

If you guys think this is a good idea please tell me yes or no.

:D:D:D:D

P.s if you say no because of little kids playing, there was not a single one on OFDR.(to advanced for them)

My guess is that this wont happen, since publishers are reluctant to release games where the player has to actually think, plan ahead, and avoid bullets.

Besides that, i would rather have BIS, not being very large studio, focus on the PC as long as it is economically feasible.

What keeps ArmA going is the mods, without them it would pretty much be dead. And the controls would be another problem, as there are too few of them on the Xbox/PS3 controller.

It would be a hard port which I can 99% guarantee wont happen, there are other ways to get more customers :]

No. If they do, I'm quite sure it'll go the way of the OFP series that Codemasters runs and that's something none of us want.

in a perfect world, yes i would like to see this game on those consoles.

but this world isnt perfect. who knows if it is even possible to get this beast of a game on those systems. i mean, this game can bring modern high powered machines to their knees

I honestly don't have a problem with it as long as the PC version isn't compromised. Though I really don't see the console market being as big, even Dragon Rising was a little too much realism for your standard COD gamer to handle.

There are hints in Arma 2 towards a Xbox 360 port, what with it's typical icons appearing when you enable a 360 controller, or code within the game with the words "Xbox" in it, but it's likely publishers don't see the money in putting a military simulator on consoles, and they're probably right. PCs have always remained where simulators sell the most.

I doubt we'll ever see a port to the PS3 because of how different it's hardware is to the PC.

As Ragingbear505 said, I wouldn't mind a console version of the game, so long as it doesn't compromise the PC version. I see that as being far too difficult a task for BIS given the size that they are, but who knows.

I'm afraid Virtual Reality 3 would choke PS3/X360 to death, as this engine require LOTS of CPU power, while GPU is much less important. And I don't think BIS would even try to create new console-friedly variant of this engine (assuming it's possible without starting from scratch).

Also I can hardly believe lots people would buy it. Console players expect their games rather be fast pace, user-friendly (some would call it n00b firendly) and fool-proof. Most MP missions in ArmA2 last 30mins to hour. Manhattan from SP campaign takes 2-3 hours, DoW took me 11 hours.

Playing ArmA2 on consoles would be just as good as playing RTS games on consoles. Just because you can, doesn't mean you would like it.

And more important - ArmA2 without mods?

Zipper5: I wouldn't be suprised if there were still some leftovers from OFP:Elite in game files

So many misconceptions about console gamers here. All you have to do is look at the Ubisoft forums when GRAW and Rainbow Six Vegas first came out at the number of console gamers wanting more realism. The same went for OFP2. Whenever I play any of these online I always hear at least two or more people talking about how they wished for more realism.

And for those that say it wouldn't work, I show you Operation Flashpoint: Elite for the original XBox, and the 360/PS3 even have 2 more additional buttons to make use of.

I'm sure the game would sell good, and I would definitely pick it up on my 360, but it would still be a distant second in quality to the PC version. Still, the console market has nothing like it right now.

Sorry, SorryNextTarget,

you see, they haven't finished milking the console market just yet. When a new generation of consoles xbox180 & PS 4 arrive with some serious hardware, people might consider making games that are on par with the quality of PC: mainly textures, models & map/world size.

P.S. Playstation 1 had some of the best games of its time and was revolutionary compared to the crap that ran Pacman and Tetris along with Shoot The Duck.

*yawn*

Same answer I give every time I hear this question...

NO

I own a XBOX 360 and PS3. There is no way they could handle this game without dumbing it down to the point it's a totally different and stupid game.

Next some fool will ask for it on the Wii (which I also have, and no, there is no way).

Search next time too, as this topic has been brought up, and CLOSED, so many times... :j:

Ha, I like the sorry, sorrynexttarget lol. But OFDR looked great and was probley a little too good looking for the console (like your saying). But I think they can make the graphics a little dum downed and focus on the game play. I think it could make it on to the 360 or the PS3.

Put all the console gamers in one room, put all the PC gamers in another. Ask PC gamers if they like realism in their games, a huge portion of them will say yes. Ask console gamers if they do, and most will say no. The consoles are designed to be casual, therefore the majority of their audience want to play casual games, not realistic ones.

It's a cold, hard, fact, and I know there is an audience for realism on consoles, but it certainly won't make the developer or publisher enough money. My suggestion is if you want realism buy a PC and experience how it's meant to be.

Strip down the game to acomodate the consoles design and to one say: "CoD\BF:BC\MoH is better than this!" ?

No, thanks.
