Australians At War - Combined Ops

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded AAW yesterday, and I have to say that I'm really impressed.

Your models/textures/configs are top notch!

PS: I love the customization on the head (Changing hats, goggles, etc)

ec80e440bc50t.jpg

Downloaded and updated via Yoma Addon sync.

Also need help with preloaded units' appearance - all I get is a unit without any headgear or helmet and no flag.

Yes, I'm using mod together with CSLA, ANZAC, BWMod and some other packs and addons. But such problem appeared when I had updated it to the .010 version with no problems during update. Before update I had no such problem.

Sorry mate we cant try and make our mod compatible with all other mods, would just be to monumental a task. If the 010 version has broken compatibility with one of those other mods we will unfortunately not be addressing it.

Maybe that's compartibility problems, I'll try to figure out, what mods make this error (if it's caused by other mods).

Checked this mod with clean CO - the same error appears. So, the issue is not because of another mods. Maybe there's something with latest betapatch? BTW, what mod files may cause this error? Maybe I should redownload them.

Hi AAW team. Do you know if it's possible to script a change to a unit's headgear during a mission.

It can be done in the unit's init:

this setVariable ["NORRN_AAWinfAppearance", ["Headwear","Patch","Goggles"], false];

but this doesn't work after the unit has initialised.

Thanks for a great mod, indispensable on my system!

@spooky didn't see you had updated your post. Is your CBA up to date? only other solution I can think of is maybe re download the mod.

@tpw I don't have a clue but I'm sure norrin will be able to give you an answer :)

Hi guys, sounds like a cool mod.

I been wondering what is the premise of the Australians going to war, like who are they fighting and why.

I never really understood why Australians would be at war with anyone anyways, I mean the people are on a huge island

very far away from the main continents. Are the Australians Allies with USA, or other countries where they are helping in

the war in lets say like whats happening today?

Can you guys clear this up for me as I really see no point in a country going to war unless another country has attacked them or their

Allies if any had called their Aid or there was terrorist activity on their own land, guess you can say the same for

USA but Government Agendas are another topic.

Yes, we are very close allies with the US. We are in Afghanistan, Iraq and a few other countries at the moment. In fact there was an Australian SASR team working in Somalia at the time of "Black Hawk Down" but not many people know that.

WIKI is your friend ... Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Defence_Force

The Australian Defence Force cooperates with militaries around the world. Australia's formal military agreements include the ANZUS Alliance with the United States of America, the Closer Defence Program with New Zealand and the Five Power Defence Arrangements with Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Australia is currently developing closer security ties with Japan. ADF activities under these agreements include participating in joint planning, intelligence sharing, personnel exchanges, equipment standardisation programs and joint exercises. Australia is also a member of the UKUSA signals intelligence gathering agreement.

New Zealand, Singapore and the United States maintain military units in Australia. The New Zealand and Singaporean forces are limited to small training units at ADF bases, with the New Zealand contingent comprising nine Army personnel involved in air navigation training. Two Republic of Singapore Air Force pilot training squadrons are based in Australia; 126 Squadron at the Oakey Army Aviation Centre and 130 Squadron at RAAF Base Pearce. The Singapore Army also uses the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area in Queensland for annual large-scale exercises.

Two United States intelligence and communications facilities are located in Australia; the Pine Gap satellite tracking station near Alice Springs and Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt near Exmouth, Western Australia. Pine Gap is jointly operated by Australian and United States personnel and Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt has been an exclusively Australian-operated facility since 1999. In early 2007 the Australian Government approved the construction of a new unmanned US communications installation at the Defence Signals Directorate facility near Geraldton, Western Australia. The United States Military also frequently uses Australian exercise areas and these facilities have been upgraded to support joint Australian-United States training.

The ADF provides assistance to militaries in Australia's region through the Defence Cooperation Program. Under this program the ADF provides assistance with training, infrastructure, equipment and logistics and participates in joint exercises with countries in South East Asia and Oceania. The Pacific Patrol Boat Program is the largest Defence Cooperation Program activity and supports 22 Pacific class patrol boats operated by twelve South Pacific countries. Other important activities include supporting the development of the Timor Leste Defence Force and Papua New Guinea Defence Force and supplying watercraft to the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Australia also directly contributes to the defence of Pacific countries by periodically deploying warships and aircraft to patrol their territorial waters. Under an informal agreement Australia is responsible for the defence of Nauru.

Latest CBA version solved the problem.:)

But I have the same issue as tpw:

this setVariable ["NORRN_AAWinfAppearance"' date= ["Headwear","Patch","Goggles"], false];

but this doesn't work after the unit has initialised.

Sorry SL and tpw for taking so long to respond. To reduce the number of scripts running and network traffic non-playable AI units can only have their helmet type set at mission start-up via the setVariable command.

Playable AI units can only change helmets (other than at mission start-up) when they respawn.

You can get around this limitation though by setting the NORRN_AAWinfAppearance to whatever's needed and transmitting this var across the network

eg.

_unit setVariable ["NORRN_AAWinfAppearance", ["Headwear","Patch","Goggles"], true];

Then by executing the changeAppearance_fnc.sqf for each aaw unit on each PC connected to the mission to get the appearance change to synch up across the network, eg. something like

{[_x] execVM "\aawInfantry_scrpt\fnc\changeAppearance_fnc.sqf"} forEach playableUnits;

Note: this is untested - If I get a chance I'll post an example mission with this system included.

Thanks Norrin, this is really excellent. I'm keen to try it out with DAC spawned AAW guys, who always spawn without a lid. I'll let you know how it goes.

EDIT: Works perfectly, thanks muchly!

The quality of the infantry units is amazing. Would you guys ever consider doing some retextures in a multicam or some generic camo? I'm an American, but I love these units. Sometimes I wish I had them in some different camo for role playing purposes. Keep up the excellent work!

No we wont be making any other retextures how ever our infantry are currently being issued with multiam uniforms and our SF have been using multicam for a while now so they will be included in AAW eventually.

After long time i have deployed ADF to Takistan again. These units are Awesome. The models, textures, weapons. Perfect. Waiting for the update as you tease some WIP pics in screenshots thread.

Maybe someone ask this question before. But do you plan to create some Australian Special Forces units ?

Thank You and bring us more of this great addon.

Regards

Yes we do plan to create Special Forces eventually. We have some assets which we need to finish first though. Unfortunately my time is a bit limited at the moment as I am taking time out to further my maya skills how ever I am still slugging away at AAW.

Very nice mod lads. We modded up the server and started out with MSO cherno, great fun was had.

One thing tho, when running vanilla AAW, the hats customization works, but once we launched it with ACE on the server, only the IR strobes seemed to work. We didnt get any actions for hats. CBA should be up to date.

So is the hats system not compatible with MP on dedi servers, ACE or both? Or are we doing something wrong?
