What are the most important sounds for you while using JSRS?

  1. 1. What are the most important sounds for you while using JSRS?

    • The weapon sounds!
    • The vehicle sounds!
    • Environmental sounds!
    • Explosions, Soniccracks, Bullethits, the sound of danger!
    • The script features like the "distance sounds"!
    • Everything combined! The whole Mod itself is important.

Yes nice new video, great news on the BAF vehicles :)

Also yes its wise to install A2 .. then OA into Arma2 folder as combined, then DLC(s) (if you have them or no worries if you dont).. then patch 1.09 (which will then patch all the rest up to latest in one go). If you un-install OA first just make you accept to not delete savegames/settings.

No I wasn't mate. Yesterday was horrible with the internet connetction around here and today I really don't know if I can find the time. Such an information for you guys who trying to find videos I can work with:

I mostly need sounds for the Slow drive with low rpm, the high drive, high rpm and the idle, than the on/off is not as much important. No videos from the inside, just ONE where I can see HOW it sounds like, I barely make them all without sources, just editor and trickbox.

Thanks guys ;)

Jarhead

EDIT:

I will rework the Tunguska because its an V-46-4 turbocharged V-12 water cooled 4-stroke diesel engine with 780 hp, while the SU23-4 has an V-6R, 6-cylinder 4-stroke airless-injection water cooled 19.1 litre diesel engine with 280 hp at 2,000 rpm! So, there is a LITTLE difference! I will make an Turbo whistle to the engine sound on the Tunguska and it'll be fine :)

Is there a release date available

Stop spamming the forums with your "release date" questions. This is the 3rd or 4th time I seen you posting such pointless questions.

Check the first post, there are you release dates.

Thanks W0lle... sry guys, but as already said some times before, there are no more release dates im future! I don't want to work further to a date, I want to work for the sound and its never as that easy.

Most people just hearing instead of LISTEN TO! There is no time to think about release date, there is only time to LISTEN, to listen to the sounds, is it good, is there something I miss, something wrong.

The Tunguska 9M311 for example, most people only hear bumm, wooosh.... thats it. But I hear more than this, corze I'm listen to it.

There is a slight crack to hear, then a loud bang. We hear how the rocket left out of the barrel! Metal grinds on metal, the output of the missile handle the wire which is heard afterwards, a high-pitched hum and dull. Then, the ignition of the propellant. WOOOsh in the end. Bang, Grind, Wire, Wooooosh! Four importand things to make the sounds an complete construct of my audible experience with that weapon. Sure, from a Video! BUT: Is there anyone tells me now I'm wrong with the things I heard? I study things like that which I finally set to sounds for you! Including any weapon or any vehicle.

Sure I can make it that way: Saying "Next Friday!" and I would have to pack alot, making signatures, checking configs, looking for duplicates on different folders, checking if each pbo at the right place, rpt, config fixes. But NO sounds. Or at least I would have to make them fast, and then we just have the simple woooooosh some of you just hear and than they all come back and saying "Yaahahhh what the fuck, there isn bad sound! This is not working! And this things sounds totally different in RL!" So fuck this stupid release thing and let me do this stuff for you with ALL the time I need, so you can have the full joyment in future :) Ok? GOOOOOOD

I'm done.......

I hear you.

But your post made me think, that with modular sound mods, the whole big release format doesn't make much sense. I can't really think of a reason that .pbos couldn't be released one at a time, as soon as they're finished.

But that would probably be a pain in the ass with uploading big files all the time. But if you had somebody to help you with posting files, it could be an option.

OK LJ, here you go

LAV-25 at low rpm

-very nice shooting btw

the engine ,maybe you can even work with this one

---------- Post added at 08:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:51 AM ----------

and @LJ

Thats exactly how i think!

First of all: Release dates are EVIL! They rush you and as we all know haste makes waste

and secondly: Believe me with JSRS, the waiting is worth it!

if we get to the details:

listen to your TOW video at 0:21

and you can slightly hear someone talking

thats really not an serious problem

i wanted to show you that I'm really LISTENING to your great sounds! ;)

Yes, release Dates are really evil, just look how release dates can ruin good games if they are thrown on the market too early.

Take your Time, make the sounds as good as possible, deliver the ultimate experience. We will listen.

So, I'm not really pleased with the result, but its all I can do with it. Its really hard to find more (or even better) Videos than the ones you guys post here. Thanks for this mate!

So the next step would be the AAVP or Stryker! The sounds I already have are good, but could be improved.

After some more testings and making some videos I upload the LAV to youtube to watch!

Thanks for your Work guys!

I noticed that the KSVK sound is really lacking. Compared to the M107 it's muffled and distant.

Here's the only video I've found yet. Shot at 0:50

?? i dont get your problem....

I think he's saying that the bullet cracks are too loud.

I think he is trying to ask for less volume of sonic crack. I have the same feeling. A little bit noisy, especially when you are using a headphone.

Thanks guys, atm the soniccracks are a bit too quiet but this is because of an config change (they are quieter than in 1.2RC), have to look how to rework this.

Another problem is, that RWS seems to using the same source for the MRLS like I do (just like the abrams in past, damn) so I ask for someone of you guys, just to unpbo my MRLS which is in the VW folder, and listen to the sounds (Corze they're not working ingame, but they are there!) and see, that I had them first (corze 1.2 is avaiable since... several month) so I'm not the one who have to make new sounds (last time, I reworked the abrams, now RWS can do something ^^) I mean, I will not represent anyone stupid or so, but not that it is afterwards, I would have stolen the sounds or something! They are been a part of JSRS for a long time, only do not working! Heres the Vid:

So, the lav is nearly done, I reworked some sounds again and again and again, but than I reworked the config, works wonders! Now I really would like to do the rest, which are "ONLY" the Stryker and AAVP on US side... and what on opfor? Äh.... don't know, did I have all of them? On traked and wheeled side, yes. The airplanes are still there, some helios, and the whole civ cars, which I not really want to make :(

very nice mod realy great work but how wil this affect the bw mod ?

Since the BW Mod uses different weapons and vehicles I shouldn't think so :p

A sonic crack can't be louder than the muzzle blast of the weapon that fired the round.

The sonic cracks are unrealistically loud... but that's exactly the way it should be! Like Jarhead says, you can't get the exact real life sound because you're sitting in front of a computer. But you should feel the fear. That snap should cut right through the din of battle to scream "you almost just died, sucker!"

Sometimes a close barrage of shots will leave me completely stunned, and that's great.

Delete the .pbo and use ACE_SM's sonic snaps if you want. Those are very high quality and accurate, and much milder in volume.
