Found a major bug already. Close vegetation - most notably grass clutter - is rendered at a lower LOD than far vegetation.

Wow is this a joke?

BIS you guys can get some rest you know?

Im already enjoying the game more with 1.57 and I like the sound of reduced LOD transition in dense forest and town scenes

one of the core issues with arma 2 is LOD glad that its finally getting some fixes and adjustments.

The only thing now is I need a super awesome gpu so i can play this game maxed. :)

:cheers:

Something is wrong with this beta patch. Tried it without any mods, even with new profile and have very weird LOD issues.

[76871] Reduced lod switching in dense (forsest, town) scenes.

That sounds promising.

BIS ftw, srsly.

Like I said above, this seems to have been improperly implemented. Unfortunately, further objects seem to have higher LODs than close ones, which looks ugly and causes rather bad performance.

I'm guessing it's just a small bug in the LOD selection algorithm. Hopefully it will be fixed fast. :)

Mh i cant confirm the LOD issue so far.

Thanks for the next great piece of support BIS:)

btw. there is a fix in the beta for the PMC ULB

If you control the ULB as player in the stable patch u cant see the WPS you set on Map. In this beta you can see them.

On the other side your not able to acess the PMC ULB without the Gun! The ULB with PKM works fine.

Hope this won't bring the crazy AI pilots crashing issue back.

Mh i cant confirm the LOD issue so far.

It seems to only occur when you allow the beta to detect the 3D Performance and VRAM values (by deleting your Arma2OA.cfg file). Fortunately I always backup the file before deleting it, and found something interesting:

Values before deletion:

3D_Performance=100000;

localVRAM=1046151168;

nonlocalVRAM=2147483647;

Values detected by the new beta:

3D_Performance=93750;

localVRAM=268435456;

nonlocalVRAM=0;

If I manually reset the values to the ones before the beta, the problem is gone.

Arma2 SP missions seems broken to me, anyone else can confirm? Only running on 1.57 official or beta w BAF DLC.

Trial by fire - the volume are soften to near inaudible after landing.

Village Sweep - CAS are now A10 instead of harriers?

Confirming on the trees LOD as well.... looks weird on beta.

Didnt try that but i can confirm that Death from Above is also broken.

If the Takistani Officer leaves the house there is no message no more about that, he´s just driving away. "Missle Away" and "Good Hit" Sounds are also gone.

I've created a ticket (#16189) for the LOD issue, including a video that shows what happens. It ain't pretty. :)

Jeez i saw the video and it looks horrible..

(...)

This is an old bug and happens since OA initial release. It seems like there were fade* commands applied, back in ArmA2-only times those commands didn't work.

As soon you reload from an (auto-)save, the volumes are back to normal.
