spanishsurfer 58 Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) Greetings, I've been reviewing all of the available mods either out or coming out soon and there are some that are very impressive and others in development with a good reputation from Arma 2 that we need to keep an eye on. This thread is an attempt to begin a list of some of the those mods so that server admins may have an easy way to see what's out there and make decisions on which mods they want to allow on their servers. Try to suggest mods you know to be of high quality and that will add something to the game that you feel is missing from vanilla. Please do not include mods that will make them required if used by the server (example extra content like a new jet, tank, etc) they should only effect the client and not the server. When posting please include: Name, brief description of the mod, and a link to either the developers main page or thread on BIS. (Easy download access for users/servers) I'll start with a few I know are top quality and/or look VERY promising: 1) JSRS2.0 - Sound mod - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?161780-JSRS2-0-WIP-Thread 2) Blastcore A3 - Explosion FX mod - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?162988-Blastcore-A3 3) CBA (Community Base Addon) - essential addon required for some addons to work - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147535-CBA-Community-Base-Addons-ARMA-3-Alpha 4) Advanced Cockpit Interaction - cockpit switches actually work - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?162022-Advanced-Cockpit-Interaction 5) Enhanced Movement & More - Ability to climb, jump, etc - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?154637-Enhanced-movement-and-more 6) Sweetfx - improves colors/vibrance in http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?151617-SweetFX-in-Arma-3&highlight=sweetfx 7) TMR Weapon Mod - allows bipod use, weapon resting on windows/objects and more - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?160054-TMR-0-2-Rest-amp-Recoil-Update-(Weapon-resting-amp-bipods-new-recoil-more) 8) Shacktak Fireteam HUD - Easy HUD that shows where your units are - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?148344-ShackTac-Fireteam-HUD-for-Arma-3 9) Mid Range Texture Replacement - Replaces blurry midrange textures - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?150645-midrange-terrain-texture-replacement 10) Player Name Pop-up (for missions that don't have this) - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?157153-Name-Tag-Mod-by-A3C Edited October 17, 2013 by SpanishSurfer
nmdanny 22 Posted September 5, 2013 You should probably separate mods that give you a gameplay advantage(such as TMR) and mods that are purely visuals/sound (such as JSRS and Blastcore)
terox 316 Posted September 5, 2013 I would remove all addons that do not have a bikey. Split the rest into Clientisde Serverside Required by both. (E.g objects, vehicles, weapons, islands, units and I would further seperate the 3rd section into subsections Units Vehicles Weapons & equipment Islands Objects Misc
spanishsurfer 58 Posted September 5, 2013 For now I'm going to keep it simple and keep the focus on the client. The intent is to list good mods that effect only the client but will require server admins to implement keys to retain security. Why only client? Typically admins who are running their server already have a mission file and/or additional content in mind and a list is not really required.
fred41 42 Posted September 5, 2013 @Terox, just a "signing newbe" question: What advantage has serverside (only) signing? I mean, i dont really understand, why should one sign addons, which are never running on other clients? Thanks, Fred41 I would remove all addons that do not have a bikey.Split the rest into Clientisde Serverside Required by both. terox 316 Posted September 5, 2013 There is no need for bikeys for serverside only addons mate. There are only a couple of serverside only addons anyway, one of them is now redundant. (Sorry I didnt differentiate)
baaaard 10 Posted September 6, 2013 For me its @babe_midtex @sthud @tmr and @jsrs. When it comes to tmr / sthud giving an unfair advantage, put a link in the server welcome message / map info about mods worth checking out. Gives the mods some recognition, and the game such an extra appreciated realism boost.

galzohar 31 Posted September 7, 2013 Just about any client-side mod gives at least some kind of advantage and/or disadvantage. It's part of the nature of modifying the game. Of course, some give less advantage (jsrs, sthud) than others (weapon resting). And of course something like texture replacement giving a disadvantage most likely, as it makes enemies not stick out as much on the crappy vanilla terrain textures. oktyabr 12 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) I like the one that puts up the player's name when you look at them, within a certain range. In real life you would recognize unique individuals at a short distance. However, many custom missions out there (Wasteland) already have this feature available. But this could def be handy for other missions out there. I'll add it to the list. oktyabr 12 Posted December 27, 2013 If you haven't seen it yet check out ALiVE. This really isn't "client side only" but expect to see it running on a server near you soon ;)
chains 11 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Does anyone still agree with this list or is there better ones/replacements? :) I have looked into TPW mods to make towns more realistic/alive. It works on MP which is pretty cool. Edited January 1, 2014 by chains more info
