My pc is ASUS G75VX-CV006H with this settings:

CPU: Intel Core i7 3630QM 2,3 GHz - 64 Bit - Cache L2 6MB

Ram: 16 GB SODIMM DDR3 1.600 MHz

Monitor: Full HD (1920x1080)

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670MX 3GB DDR5

Arma 3 run good.. But if I use a low settings or a ultra settings, FPS don't change..

In a Tdm with 64 players my FPS are on average 15 if I use the low setting, and remain 15 even if I use the settings ultra.

Looking at these beasts makes me feel so poor :(

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3.2 GHz

8 GB DDR2 RAM

GTX 560Ti

MP gets me around 15 fps on everything low...so MP is currently unplayable

The showcases however can get me around 30-35 fps on everything medium and 4xAA, 50-60 fps with everything low.

I´ve noticed that the server can affect fps big time, got into some servers that had settings/missions that for no reason brough my rig to it´s knees.

A laptop + desktop GPU + ExpressCard adaptor + 27" monitor + ArmA = Awesome

Laptop: Lenovo X230T

thinkpad_x230t.png

i7-3520M @ 2.90GHz

8GB RAM

250GB Corsair SSD + 500GB SATA

Win7 x64

GPU: Asus GTX660Ti

Monitor: Dell U2711 27" @ 2560x1440

ArmA auto-detects most things at Ultra, but dropping Post-processing back to Low makes it quite playable.

Get 28-40fps most places on low, drops to a horrible 18fps with a lot of trees. :butbut:

10T, I didn't even realize these existed. I guess I can stop looking at a whole new desktop build or new laptop (ick). My G74 may have a bit more life left yet.

Can you go into more detail? What adapter, etc.

It's called the diy vidock or eGPU. If your PC has an expresscard slot, you can get a pe4h and ec2c and hook it up. If not, you need to use a mini pcie slot probably on the bottom of your laptop, and get a pm3n instead of an ec2c.

You are going to run into bandwidth issues. If your laptop has optimus switchable graphics, you would get a x1 2.0 connection iirc. A desktop runs at x1 16 or 8. Optimus would give you around 75 percent of the performance of a desktop, and the option to run it on your laptop's screen instead of needing an external monitor. If it doesn't have optimus, you would be running a x1 1.0 connection, giving you about 50 percent of desktop performance, and also requiring an external monitor. Or you could use 2 mpcie slots, getting x2 2.0 bandwidth, but this means sacrificing your onboard wifi card.

No worries Gorbachev. Like ruhtraeel said, it's called a DIY vidock, or a DIY eGPU. It's a kludge (there are cables all over my desk), but it (usually) works.

The place I found most information about them (Will your laptop be capable? Which adaptor should you buy? Will your laptop work out of the box or will it need to be configured specially, and if so how? What PSU will be you need for the GPU? etc) was on the TechInferno forums. Start at THIS THREAD, and then browse the rest of that forum. nando4 on that board has a lot of experience with them, and is pretty amazingly willing to help people.

Game is unplayable on non-blitzkrieg-servers with more than 32 players.

Is my computer too slow or is this bad optimization? Battlefiield 3 smoothly runs on high-very high settings with 64 players...
