Play withSIX - Launcher, Downloader, ServerBrowser - FULL ARMA3 Alpha Support +more!
Masharra replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Question. In SU when you made a preset and dragged a mod into it that had dependencies, the dependants were also put into the preset. In PwS I see this. http://s9.postimg.org/av9m6bg0f/screenshot_11.png. Are the dependencies in the preset also(just hidden)? Do I need to go hunt them down and add them? --edit-- It auto adds dependencies. Oddly enough though it did not auto add the cba's. unsure if that is a bug or intended. Bug when trying to make a shortcut- http://s9.postimg.org/g7ygkg3wv/screenshot_12.png Also I vaguely recall that custom sets are supposed to be saved? It didnt, though that may be because it crashed. + refuses to locate my custom @mk4 folder under local. Has the PwS networks version but that will overwrite the version that I have. ( i assume) -
what do you think about the game so far?
Masharra replied to doogerie's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
yea was generalising and exaggerating a bit there, but "general" point still stands. Also using Arma 3 running Arma 2 content shows a that Arma 3 has no real content of its own. :) -
Six Updater: Install/Update mods, missions. Delta patching. Server browser, and more!

N000000!!!! SixUpdater refuses to launch for me. Six launcher works. PwS works but handling more than 5 addons in that makes my brain explode. -

Masharra replied to doogerie's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
It feels odd to me that so many say it is the best so far "what do you think about the game so far? from what we have so far" Its like bis could stop work now and say "ok done" and all those people would be happy. I mean the thread started did specifically state " from what is currently avail" not potentially or promised but yet to be delivered. Lots of people are happy with only wheels for a car. I think this kind of thinking is why Infinity ward and activision make so much money every year. Meh... Current vote - A2 reigns, followed by Mechwarrior 2, then 3. :D -

I did state I would check pws again. I have been using it lately with the CIA friday night arma 3 sessions. I must say after giving a bit more time to learn, (about ~5 mins) it isnt all that bad. It (imo) still lacks the raw functionality that SU has, but it is definitely usable. pws~ Arma3 is still my go to recommendation for all newcomers! Keep up the good work and keep improving! -
Lets hope Bohemia dont take this to heart, and stop giving us such goodies such as alpha and beta. Lord knows I would have closed this alpha long ago and had a "large" private alpha and bugger the the community at large.

Game is already losing people due to hackers.
Masharra replied to Kellon's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
You must not play many games if you think arma has a lot of hackers. Ahem. Soldier Front Gunz Battlefield series - LOL Pretty much most COD series. - You think steam stops people? LOL A.V.A Combat Arms Warrock Sudden Attack Wolf Team GunZ Counter Strike - You think steam stops people? LOL -
http://ciahome.net/join-cia-coop-nights/ On Friday nights CiA plays Arma 3 and ArmA 2 Ace. Any questions don't hesitate to ask on CIA forums, their thread on bis forums http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?94852-CiA-co-op-night , or pm myself and I will try to assist you. http://zeus-community.net/jom/ Also has co-op nights. There are more but those are the two I am most familiar with.

Proper mortar-men. You know, with all this focus on infantry, It sorta seems like you "guys" forgot mortar-men are infantry. -
Amen NeuroFunker. Just yesterday had a whole squad wiped out because the weather turned bad. REAL bad and my burst of fire that was supposed to hit a technical, hit 10ft to the left.

Most "trolls" Ive encountered do not actually speak like that and quite honestly I havent seen a name like that in quite some time. Perhaps years but at the very least months. Ive encountered less youngun McScreechyvoice "trolls" versus fully grown "This is how it is going to be"25+yr old "trolls".

Hacked by a player with no ID
Masharra replied to Richie's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
im reasonably sure you simply tell your server to not to report to gamespy. Atlereast in a2 i had that option. -
I found myself thinking the same thing. Case in point. Mission from yesterday: 1- Destroy Armoured Column 1.a I never saw the column alive. 2- Most engagements were 500+m out 2.a Pretty much everything I engaged was a dot in the distance 3. Laid ambush. 3.a Lad on ground so long my internet got bored and dc'd me :D (felt like 30 mins but was probably 5-10 minutes) 3.b On reconnect a recon team had moved forward. Then the patrol we wanted to ambush showed up. 4. Recover vehicle 4.a I was on point with m249. 4.b Get shot in the face by the LAST guy hiding in some weeds. Mission length 1hr x minutes. Most Fun I will have until Friday! Are you able to get enjoyment out of not engaging targets because you are too important? i.e Medic, engineer, w/e Patient enough to handle large manoeuvres? * note this is an example of an extreme. There are shorter more "actiony" missions available.

-Map/Environment Tips (how to find stuff on the map, map legend, and where to find Ammo/Cash/Guns/Etc) -Multiplayer basics (How to ID teammates/emenies, chat channels, etc) Wouldnt such a tutorial be extremely dependent on mission? A properly made mission details such information in the prelaunch details or crates are provided within 10-30m of spawn. There is a quite a difference between SoAK's Whole Lotta War, Wasteland, Stratis Life, coop missions, aas missions. Most importantly Remember this is alpha. Shit may change on you. or as my SL used to say. Shut the hell up and do what I do.

One thing you may try using is @mcc_sandbox a3 version I know the arma 2 version has a "ghost mode" where you are invisible and a teleport function, which should allow you to observe quite easily.

Thats odd wording there. Totally new gameplay? Playing with fog isnt far off from playing without nvo's at night. Want intense? Play as bestfor vs bluefor at pitchblack night. Except give them nvg's and you use lee enfield. Q- What direction were they facing? what difficulty setting? what formation was your squad in? EI squad formation? ontopic ---- Max fog my detection range- his engagement range (cant tell detection range as he doesnt appear to give a damn until 31 or I fire) test 1 67- 31 test 2 Decided to stop at 32. he doesnt notice me. 360 Circle around @ 32 does not notice Fire 1 round from rear. Instantly turns around and kills me. test 3 My 75 (can barely make him out) Fire 1 round from 3o'clock. Instantly fires on my position and kills me test 4 Approach to 73 (when I saw him) retreat to 100 (0% visibility) and fire 1 round no response 2nd round Kills me. test 5 Fire 5 rounds in general direction from 250m. 2 rounds in opposite direction (cant see weapon flashes) AI opens fire and kills at 85m http://s9.postimg.org/pa95m8zin/arma3_2013_04_23_02_10_48_12.jpg My guess? They can see you. They just arent allowed to fire on you until x condition is met. Whatever x is, it is better than my eyesight

All in Arma (AiA) - TKOH/OA/A2/A1 merge with A3
Masharra replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Tested most LMG/ HMG's Recoil pfft... Unless things change per mission. The saw/m60/ could be fired with near pinpoint accuracy regardless of stamina level/ (standing stance). The other mg's have a little bit more variance to them but they also suffer from no penalties after movement. In my noobish eyes it appears as if all(if not most) shots are dead centre they just move up and down a bit with recoil. -
Can you play Arma 2, after playing Arma 3 for a while?
Masharra replied to NeuroFunker's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
AiA ports over the ai? Odd. I didnt notice it. Ill give it a second look. on off topic Having played a specific mission I must say. Being able to play said mission is not the same as being able to play said mission as intended. A pitch black 2350 mission in Arma 2 is not close to a ported 2350 mission in Arma 3. Most missions Ive played I havent been able to switch weapons. Once I run out of ammo that is it the weapons disappear when trying to acquire a new one. -
A proper jungle would be nice.

Keep a track of the people you give keys to. They also receive a key. Expand the spider web from there. A bit of a hassle but I find that way you get more honest opinions spread out. Instead of me preaching it is a person who actually tried the game who has to share his key. His "unique" positives and negatives will be shared.

Can you play Arma 2, after playing Arma 3 for a while?
Masharra replied to NeuroFunker's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I cant honestly play Arma 3 for anything other than with CIA Friday nights. Someday it will hit (and hopefully pass) A2's level but today is not that day. That being said, I think you may be oversimplifying by saying "arma 2 just feels crap, compared to arma 3, nearly in every aspect." By saying arma 2 wins in "content AMOUNT" feels extremely wrong. ai, diversity of content, modifiability, community, mods, sound, Maybe Im just a silly pessimist but its like the fog. My first thought was "but how do the ai see through this pretty fog?" And thus far, silence on that part. afaik. and that is what is important to me. I demand a little bit more "something" and that little bit more isn't there. Not yet. Though I will admit.. I do enjoy that the ai is very hesitant to engage me and my squadmates from range. It makes me feel as if I am good at the game. -
http://urbanlifecommunity.enjin.com/ these guys are pretty well moderated. And police officers seem to follow rules and give proper comp for mistakes etc... Not that I know. They havent caught me yet.
