@Terox - I apologize, but officially I cannot comment on this as the company is not able to give any legal advice. In my personal capacity I think that in IP law (might depend on the country), what is not explicitly allowed is forbidden. There is huge amount of articles on the subject all over the web. This might help a bit: http://choosealicense.com/no-license/ @Anthariel - My pleasure ;)

Accepting donations was allowed and you are free to do so without approval process. But donations are voluntary gifts without expectations of any counter value. So donation is OK. For donations where you give rewards to donators, you need to apply. Giving gameplay affecting gifts to donators is not allowed even under the new rules. EDIT: To be a bit more clear - We do not consider donations without any counter value to be commercial use. But if you are using 3rd party work on your donations, you should make sure the author does not prevent his work to be used to raise donations. Also to be absolutely clear - we cannot and would not assign anyone any rights or licenses over 3rd party work. You are paying for the access to the server. If the mod is publicly available, or if you create your own or use the content which was distributed with the game your free to host your own server. Or your may connect to any of the official Arma 3 servers we provide. To reiterate - Game play affecting donator shop are not allowed, so are donator shops without approval or registrations. If you get something in return, it is a sale not a donation. Once the first dust settles on these monetization rules and everyone is given reasonable time to adjust their ways, we will focus our attentions on the rules violators. We have some of these servers (not all) on our watch list. I will investigate why your message did not get to the appropriate people. As I said above - now everyone has a chance to change their ways or face the consequences. As long as the people otherwise follow the licenses, we are OK with our licensed data packages from https://www.bistudio.com/community/licenses/licensed-data-packages being used for the server monetization according to the http://www.bistudio.com/monetization rules. By the way, I hope I am not missing any important issues raised here, but if you feel I did or you have some questions specific to your community or situation, please feel free to send me an email to monetization@bistudio.com. Thanks

Hello, I will try to respond to all of your questions and address your concerns. First let me address these: unfortunately no, we are not allowing UGC monetization at this time. You either allow or do not allow server operator to monetize your content. You may accept donations. We may request access to the server or forums to check how the monetization is handled. If the server operator does not cooperate with us, it is within our rights not to allow the monetization. If you believe a approved server is stealing your work, report it and we will check it out. If you sell all ingame perks as a access, then everyone on the server is playing under the same rules. Pay2win is not permited. The point of approvals and report system is to allow good guys to accept monetization, while freeing our hands to handle the gray shady characters. So now we are extending open arm with an option for everyone - start monetize legally, with registration and approval and permission from addon creators or risk us looking into your practices. You may try to negotiate with the infringer on your own. When you report to us stolen content and we do verify it then depending on the situation we may try to "reform" the infringer or remove the monetization permission. If he continues to monetize, he is infringing on our IP rights and we may take the matter further. I will refrain from listing the specifics but there are both legal and technical actions which we use take to take down such communities. You have every right to do so. If you wish to contest the "approved status" then use the report button. Sometimes the infringements are so obvious, that we will be able to see ourselves that the person requesting approval is not acting in the best of the Arma community and we will not grant the approval. Most of the times it is not so obvious and that is where content creators such as yourself can use "report" to help us maintain the healthy community.

We are going to check the servers, but reports help a lot - they are faster, to the point and from the people that play on the servers. My hope is that the server operators will see the benefits of conforming to the rules and the fear of losing those will motivate them to refrain from any shady practices, which would require us to step in. You have a point. I will not add it to the rules, but people will be required to declare that they have the permission before submitting the application.

Making clothing contributor only system is allowed, as long as it does not affect the gameplay (for example magic cape of invisibility or stronger body armor do affect gameplay) and as long as you are registered and approved on the website. Selling ingame Apache helicopter would be allowed if the Apache would have same gameplay effect as generally available helicopter. If it would be the same as selling red-paint Apache while leaving black-paint Apache accessible to all, then it is OK. Keep in mind these permissions concern only Arma 3 servers and our content - we cannot give anyone permission to use 3rd party content for this monetization. If you are using someone else's mod/addon/etc. in this fashion, you also need to get their approval. That is where the report button on the Approved monetizators website comes in. ---------- Post added at 11:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:38 AM ---------- We have no right and cannot get involved in IP disputes of other parties. But with these rules, if we allow monetization of our server software to a community that is using IP from 3rd parties with out permission, then when we find out, we can take away that permission. If they persist in monetizing our software without it, we will take action against them. This means that only the honest communities get to chance to benefit from this change.

Do you have one of the supported browsers? Please note, that unfortunately IE is not supported :( You also need to have webGL enabled. For example Chrome WebGL plugin sometimes gets disabled. Here are some tips on how to reenable it https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1220892?hl=en

Hello, I apologize for the trouble. Your forum login/password should work. Can you use those to login to https://profile.bistudio.com/ ? Then you should be logged in to store as well. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact support@bistudio.com

I would like to again apologize to any A3 Supporters or DLC Bundle owners still having issues accessing the Helicopters content and update you all on the progress. Thanks to help of the few of you I was able to check and verify that the accounts affected do in fact own helicopters DLC app - Steam WebAPI reports it as a permanent ownership (exactly as it should). This means that everything is set up as it should be for the Helicopters release, but it also means that it is not some stupid mistake or omission, which we can fix easily, but rather a system problem in the Steam - Steam was never really made to handle pre-release of DLCs. We are trying to fix the issue with Valve, but it is entirely possible we might not be able to do so before the release of the Helicopters (at which point the issue should disappear). So please be patient and stay tuned for more updates.

Black Powder -- Cryptowall
Johny replied to six_ten's topic in Arma 3 - MAKE ARMA NOT WAR CONTEST - GENERAL
the email was signed, without any attachment, but from what you wrote it seemed that your email client did interpret the signature as an attachment rather than part of the email as most clients do. -
Black Powder -- Cryptowall
Johny replied to six_ten's topic in Arma 3 - MAKE ARMA NOT WAR CONTEST - GENERAL
Hey there, I am really sorry this happened to you and I hope you manage to get your data back. The email did come from me, but the attachment is just a secure signature certificate file (your email client should recognize it as such and should not even list is as an attachment. If anything it should help the email client verify the source of the email, because it is tied to my email address), so I do not believe my email was the source of the infection. To be sure I rechecked my ESET antivirus settings (and it is updated, with email client integration enabled) and I have run several tests with negative results. I am running more in-depth scans now, so I will let you know if anything pops up. By the way, the link you posted only mentions that the malware binaries were digitally signed with valid certificates (the malware creators stole or purchased valid certificate to sign their binaries) - not that the email signatures were used to distribute them. -
Beta build 125402 has just been released on Steam. Change log: - fixed Steam command line parameters parsing - PlayerID is now SteamID - improved BattlEye implementation (Steam Launch options updated)

As some of you may have noticed new Beta was released yesterday. Same as before use "beta" branch under Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead to access this version. How-to-change-Arma-branches-between-STABLE-amp-DEVELOPMENT Changelog: - GS lobby removed - EXE signature fixed

ARMA 2: OA Beta build 125402 - Steam Mp Lobby (1.63 build, Steam only)
Johny replied to Johny's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
That is really weird. Unless you tried it already then try logging off and on Steam and then verify integrity of game cache. If this does not help then I would try switching to main branch and then back to "beta". It is a bug. The squad.xml should still work, the problem is UI only. You can manually set up squad.xml by editing .ArmA2OAProfile file class Identity { face="Default"; glasses="None"; speaker="Male01"; pitch=1; squad="http://SQUAD_URL.com"; }; The Player ID is deprecated as a result of UI bug, but the game uses your whole steamID. the same as Arma 3 - steamPlayer -
Non-Steam user can activate their Arma 2 and OA on Steam - see http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?175463-End-of-Gamespy&p=2703996#post2703996 Steamworks matchmaking did replace the Gamespy in OA so it would not make much sense to release a non-steam patch.

An update summary on all things related to the Gamespy shutdown: At the time of writing this post the Gamespy service still works and is available. It’s now possible to activate all Arma 2 franchise keys on Steam. Just take the key from your manual and activate it on Steam ( https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5414-TFBN-1352 ). This includes keys for Arma 2, Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, Arma 2: British Armed Forces, Arma 2: Private Military Company, Arma 2: Army of the Czech Republic in all variants and editions (digital, retail, keys from Arma 2: Reinforcements and Arma X). If you encounter any problems, please, contact our support (support@bistudio.com) Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead now has a beta steam branch, which is independent on Gamespy, but requires Steam to work (Multiplayer functionality was switched from Gamespy to Steamworks). (How do I opt into beta program in Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead?) More info about the beta patch available in special sub-forum here Arma 3 has been running both systems (Gamespy and Steamworks) simultaneously for several weeks now. Just change the settings in the game server browser ( How to switch to Steam in-game server browser ) For other games (Arma 1, Arma: Cold War Assault, Take On Helicopters), which are not going to be updated to work with Steam, we’ve prepared a set of FAQs ( http://faq.bistudio.com ) and a web-based server browser ( http://master.bistudio.com/ ). It enables server owners to add their servers to the list, for users to directly connect to the servers (if they have a Steam version of the game) or to easily learn how to connect. Currently it’s in Alpha stage and we’d like to improve the functionality.

ARMA 2: OA Beta build 116523 - Steam Mp Lobby (1.63 build, Steam only)
Johny replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
As Hladas posted few minutes ago here - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?178443-ARMA-2-OA-Beta-build-124779-Steam-Mp-Lobby-%281-63-build-Steam-only%29 use app Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead , in properties select tab BETAS and there select "beta - " . this is the latest beta version. I appologize for the confusion, but we had to retire app Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead Beta, because otherwise we would not be able to properly test the Steamworks integration. -
Hello Amstellove, I apologize for the inconvenience. We are checking your transaction right now and me or my colleagues will contact you on your email ASAP with more details. It is it necessary to share your payment information here - in any case you should never share that kind of information on a public forum. In the future, I would like to ask anyone having issues with Bohemia Interactive store to checkout the FAQ or contact our support directly at support@bistudio.com - it is much more direct and faster way of getting your issues resolved.
-
I am sorry for the inconvenience. Alternativa is a Steam version, the popup script that says "Non-Steam version" is broken in this case (We have people working on a fix right now). We are currently not offering non-Steam version of Alternativa, so you can go ahead and purchase the game - you have my assurances that you will receive a valid Steam code for it. (In case of problems with activating please send email to support@bistudio.com and feel free to link to this forum thread ;) )

again - thanks everyone for the feedback. Without it, it is really hard to judge the quality of the translation. So keep up the good work and if anyone here is willing to help improve the localization, just send an email to a3_localizations@bistudio.com and we can go through the details.

Hello, thanks for the feedback. We will take appropriate action.

Arma 3 Normal Edition to Digital Deluxe Edition upgrade option?
Johny replied to ErcanKazaz's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Hello guys, I’m terribly sorry but we will not be able to offer deluxe/supporter edition upgrades to those who previously purchased Arma3. We’ve given this a great amount of thought and explored several ways to do this, but in the end we have unfortunately reached the decision not to offer package upgrades. In the end our reasoning was not only influenced by implementation, order/user tracking and accounting difficulties, but also by problems with the actual form of these upgrades, namely what the upgrades would include and for what price (especially in consideration of possible differences between upgraded versions and regular supporter editions). Thank you for your understanding. -
