    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Greetings. I'd like to figure out some things: 1) red stars on the Mi-8 and Mi-24 are integral parts of hull textures or have their own selections? May they be replaced with other insignias via init command? 2) the decals contain the groups "Aviation", "AviationCompanies" and "AviationSquadrons". May they be used with any current aircraft from the mod? If yes, what selections should be used for them?

I would not agree with it. At leasrt camo#4 scheme on both Mi-8 and Mi-24 had been used during Soviet times. All the 'soot camo' schemes on the 24s AFAIK were used on the particular helos that participated in the Second Chechen war. So they had the 'old' red-white stars. Never seen all-green Hinds at all. Especially on the pics taken on mid-2000s and earlier. The only single color scheme known to me that had ever been adopted and used was the dark gray one, since 2010s. Could you bring any pics of all-green Hinds here? That would be interesting to look at.

Red stars. Since they are the parts of the hull texture do you have any plans to add a separate selections for them? So we could make some soviet and 90's - early 2000's variants.

Another noob question from me: can the RuAF aviation insignias on the Mi-8/-24 be changed for some other variants? Or are they a parts of the hull textures?

    Soviet AF Pack

Yes, Yak-38 had no cannon. But it could use UPK-23-250 pods mounted on the wing pylons. BTW I have one Yak standing in our local armed forces museum, so I can take some pics of its parts if necessary. Oh and it had been produced in my city.

There are some cargo planes available in Steam workshop already. For example, hcpookie's Soviet AF and civilian airliners packs.

How about the texture numbers on the Su-17 and MiG-29? I've tried 2-5 on the Su-17 and 7-9 on the MiG-29 but the numbers are drawn despite this.
  8. I've seen a number of fresh vids with WW2 veterans who are able to shoot the rifles they used during their service or even drive the tanks and fly the planes. Shouldn't say that addon-making is much harder than this😁

    Western Sahara CDLC Unofficial Discussion

At first I've read the name of this CDLC and thought: "Hmm, POLISARIO vs Morocco, old good cold war assets... That's pretty good!". And then saw the screenshots... No, thanks.

So are there any transparent textures of the same dimensions in the pbo? Could you provide the path and the "setObjectTexture" numbers?

    Soviet AF Pack

Well, to use the advantage of the real life speeds of the MiG-21 you have to have at least the DCS-scale map😁

    Soviet AF Pack

Such speed is quite enough for the dimensions of ArmA maps.

Is there any way to set or disable the random numbers on the planes? Sometimes they mix with the numbers painted on the plane's livery (for example on MiG-21s).

Vietnam used Mi-24A's until mid 2000's. The engines, APU, transmission, rotors, chassis, most part of the electrical systems of Hind-A do not differ much with the later models. Or even the same. So... If there is a choice between having an old assault helicopter from the storage base or having nothing... For example, Armenians used several Mi-24K's (observation and artillery directing variant that became useless in smaller post-USSR armies) as a regular assault helicopters. During Donbass war Ukrainian army used RKhM "Kashalot" NBC recon vehicles as an improvised APCs. Even in the Afghan war some Soviet army detachments used such exotic vehicle as escorting vehicle for Strategic missile TELs based on BTR-70 as regular APC (look at the turret on the photo). So it's a kind of the tradition...

Why not? There were a lot of cases when newly formed post-Soviet countries used the old hardware from various storage bases and former Soviet army training centers.

Nope. I'm talking about the Soviet 280th helicopter regt. Soviet airforce used their Hinds-A in Afghanistan too. There were few of them (approx. 6 helicopters), but still... Some sources claim that it's one of them:

Hind-A had been used at least by the 280th helicopter regt during first months of the Afghanistan war. Also I've read some rumors that Azerbaijan's army used few ones taken from one of the storage bases during 1991-1994 Karabakh war.

Vietnam used this Hind model until 2010's. And Ethiopia - until 90's. Vietnamese Mi-24A Ethiopian Mi-24A
  19. Does anybody know if there was any CSLA skin for Franze's Su-17?

Arma 3 Creator DLC: CSLA Iron Curtain

From what I've seen this cDLC looks like some alpha or demo version. But despite this it is released as stable final one... Frankly speaking I am surprised by the CSLA team in negative way, because release of such content as a final version with a charge is a kind of disrespect to the ArmA community.

Here in Russia we also use some parts of the highways as improvised airstrips. But nobody uses them in such role constantly (as it's done in the DLC's map). When the highway hits the concrete blocks and transforms into solid airfield with taxiway and large parking for aircrafts - that's nonsense.

The overall content level is even lower than in their free mod for the previous ArmA title. But has a price tag. That's the reason. And the terrain... Do you know any place in the world where 4-stripes highway becomes constant landing strip of the airfield?

I'm looking at the scores and reading the reviews on Steam and...😅 Dear devs from CSLA studio, since OFP your mod was one of the must have in the game. It had been among the top in the amount and quality of the content, features and SP campaign and missions. But this release... What's happened with you? Please tell me that this CDLC is just a bad joke.
  25. Seen the stream of this CDLC owner. Putting an airplane with the cockpit of OFP-era middle level quality in 2021 payware DLC? Are you serious? BTW this CDLC has even smaller amount of assets than in freeware CSLA mod for A2:OA. Come on, guys...
