How to create linebreaks in my dialog with RscStructuredText?
maddogx replied to BEAKSBY's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thread moved to a more appropriate place. Btw. have you tried "\n" for line breaks? It works in hints; not sure about structured text. -
this addAction alternative
maddogx replied to thefluffyraisin's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
What exactly do you have to put in the unit's init field? The addAction command simply calls a script (or code) when the action is selected by the player, so it should be possible to call that script directly instead, for example by using execVM "SCRIPT\PATH". Btw. thread moved to mission editing & scripting. -
Problems aren't solved by ignoring them. No productive discussion will come from this thread, so... :padlock:

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
maddogx replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
TupacShakur = vekongmaster. Duplicate accounts = bye bye. -
This sounds like something related to the restriction of piloting DLC vehicles when you don't own the DLC. Apparently this restriction also extended to FFV (firing from vehicles) positions, but that was unintentional and has now been rectified. We can't actually test this anyway (yet) because there are currently no DLC vehicles with FFV positions available. All in all it's nothing need to waste your download allowance over. :)

Please keep it civil, both of you. Firstly, if you think someone is trolling you should report them. Publicly accusing someone of trolling is often itself perceived as trolling. Secondly, angry outbursts are also inappropriate. I'd hate to have to hand out warnings in an otherwise constructive thread.

The Game Features section of the website is vague.
maddogx replied to Jon_Wehrle's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Closing this thread, as it doesn't seem to be fostering any sort of productive discussion. Since this thread is also a cross-post of OP's original request in the community wish-list thread (which BI members do read), it's redundant anyway. -
Islamic State & Guerrilla Units Pack
maddogx replied to NIN3's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Preferably not at all. If you're not going to heed R0adki11's friendly warning, I'm afraid it's goodbye. Discussion of how to rip content is not permitted here. -

First post edited. It really shouldn't be necessary to post in massive non-black font. -

"New HC implementation" sounds promising, but some more information (dare I say documentation) would be helpful. :)

Not detecting any noticeable improvements on my end.

This is only tangentially related to the FDM, but are there plans to add a visual effect for this, i.e. rotor parts flying off? Currently the rotor simply disappears, which looks weird. :)

Arma 3 (release candidate) 1.36.128482+ stress-test MP (MultiPlayer)
maddogx replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Updates are only big if large amounts of game data are changed or added. In this case the update is mainly fixing multiplayer stability, so I think only the executable and maybe some DLLs, configs or perhaps small bits of data have been updated. Note that the arma3.exe is ~25MB and the dedicated server exe is ~17MB. If only those are updated, a patch will only be ~42MB. -
Black eagles radio support script

Thread closed and download link removed until this issue is cleared up. -
Okay. I was just curious, because I have Left Shift bound as "walk", but I also have both "hold breath" and "walk" bound to my OEM key (the one between Left Shift and Y/Z), so that I can use it both for holding breath while stationary and walking while holding breath (which does improve aiming stability). Since walking and holding breath both work at the same time, I thought the same might be the case for sprinting. :)
-
Isn't sprinting also on Left Shift by default? If so, won't that cause problems, or is holding breath disabled while sprinting?

Fixed Wing Flight Model (dev branch)
maddogx replied to dezkit's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
I'm going to guess that when you said "we do not plan to do any major re-examination of our airplanes", you weren't ruling out tweaks to the current flight model to improve it. :) In other words, a whole new plane flight model (DLC or otherwise) is off the table for now, but some suggested changes to the current one could be implemented? If so, at least some basic changes like this one should be considered.- 874 replies

Yup, it's amazing how much of a difference these kinds of sounds make for immersion. If they can implement all the missing sounds and effects from Variable's list, it might feel like a completely different game. Especially sound occlusion and attenuation would make a big difference in terms of "audio realism". Speaking of the list, rain sounds on vehicles weren't even on it. :)

Arma 3 Helicopters DLC Discussion (dev branch)
maddogx replied to FredAirland's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Re: some of the posts here - please remember that this thread is specifically about the heli DLC as related to what's currently available on the dev branch. Pricing and other issues with the announced content should be discussed in the dev blog/reveals thread, or the DLC speculation thread etc. :) In fact, since the three major DLC related features on the dev branch all have their own threads, this one is redundant and can probably be closed. General DLC discussion outside of dev branch feedback can take place the threads linked above. -
The sounds don't work for all vehicles, but they're audible around and inside the A/MH-9 and the Orca, at least. Pretty awesome too. :)

That's because the DLC itself (free stuff aside) will only contain those two choppers, plus a helicopter-centric MP game mode, showcases and time trials, which - in my personal opinion - is not really enough for the €13 price tag. I was expecting 3 or 4 choppers, but maybe producing high quality content has just become that much more expensive. (I honestly wouldn't know.) Having purchased the A3 supporter edition I'm not really bothered either way, but I foresee a lot of people being unhappy with the content/price of this DLC. Then again, the new platform features (RTD, FFV and sling loading) are free and purchasing the DLC isn't mandatory for MP compatibility, so people can just "vote with their wallets". For BI's sake I hope enough people buy it to make the dev costs worthwhile, but I have my doubts. (EDIT: To be clear, I should point out that if you include the new major features into the "value" of this DLC, it does seem to be much more worth the money. I'm just afraid there aren't enough people who are willing to pay just for two helis, since the features are being added for free.)

Yup, usually if you have ads popping up all over the place, it's ad-ware that was installed on your PC somehow, perhaps as a "bundle" with some other program. A lot of them do that nowadays.

would you still buy any BI product ?

This coming from a guy with at least three four accounts... -
As has been mentioned several times before, there is way too much flamebaiting/trolling going on in this thread, so repeat offenders will begin losing their posting privileges here. The other alternative would be to close this thread entirely, which is something I would like to avoid unless there is no other option. Just FYI: accusing other people (especially whole nations of people) of being brainwashed definitely qualifies as flamebaiting and will not be tolerated here. The first two lucky winners have just been chosen and will need to find a different venue for their antics.
