    Oculus Rift & Arma 3?

it seems this guy don´t use virtual desktop and get it working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGVkAeFP1s4

    General Discussion (dev branch)

In testmission with 40 vs 40 infantry in seek&destroy modus I get after 4 minutes massive slowdowns to 2fps. I have to restart the game. I never had it before in arma3.

    Visual Upgrade – Feedback

Only the longrange textures are identical. Look at the left corner above the road, there is the midrange area. :)

    Visual Upgrade – Feedback

Pro: I like the bigger variety (not intensity) of colors in the new visuals (reshade goes in the same direction). Con: But depending on day of time and weather conditions the ground is too much washed out. I was not able to compensate it with the new sliders, for example with contrast or saturation. Grass and ground (near and mainly in distance) are too bright in my opinion. Generally not easy to discuss these things, too much variables.

    Visual Upgrade – Feedback

Are these screens made with steam overlay? If yes, this method isn´t able to copy the ingame brightness and gamma settings. Before I used reshade I reduced gamma to 0.7 and maxed brightness out to get good results. I use afterburner for screenshots, it takes over both settings. I think default new visuals are better than default stable, but modified stable are better than all kinds of modified dev version (at the current state (yesterday)). We have now 5! sliders, 2x gamma, 2x brightness and 1x saturation....not easy to find the sweet spot :p

    Arma 3 stuttering issue

same here in testmission 30ai vs 30ai (without triggers/scripts) after 2-6 minutes, only in the current dev version, not in stable. The last time I had this was arma2. Stuttering I have too (in stable), 50fps feels like 20. rig: 8GB system ram 4GB video ram (R290 amd) windows 10-64bit 16gb pagefile enabled/fixed arma3 @ssd

    Visual Upgrade – Feedback

Sorry but 2 wrong assumptions: I have a hardware calibrated ips monitor and I tested dev branch under different (non-water) circumstances. On stable I modified reshade a little bit (less contrast, less saturation). I gave a overall impression. I made in stable a lot of screenshots in test scenarios, different locations, different time. That is my opinion, "close" or not.

    Visual Upgrade – Feedback

The screenshot looks horrible, sorry. Complete lack of hdr, glare, athmosphere mist looks alike heavy modded operation flashpoint. In the current state a big step back in my opinion. I hope finetuning and developement brings it back to an acceptable level. I hope solano´s reshade mod is able to repair the new upgrade.

    General Discussion (dev branch)

My only suggestion to the developers is to use badbenson´s 500kb-fix for a week or month and after that roll back to literally icecream vanilla :P............ The fix makes a difference between night and day and the exception of the developers seems to be: we use night because the daylight is only 95% perfect :P

Ho lovely detailed the towns are! Many thanks for the new screens.

    Oculus Rift & Arma 3?

Arm3 will be one of the main reasons for me to buy a HMD, not only for infantry but for flying! As soon as the price is dropping to 450 Euro (incl. shipping) I will press the order button :D @Kremator Very much anticipated :)

    [WIP] Terrain "X-Cam-Taunus"

All your damn news are mind blowing at max level! The high altitude panoramic screens are looking so fcking real!! @performance Instead of spending additional time for the developers in a low density version I suggest to "invest" a little bit time for every user to go into graphics menu and lower object view distance. I think performance depends not only on the total amount of objects but on the kind of objects. Remember chernarus. Fir trees up to the horizont have less performance impact than a bunch of broadleafs for example.
  15. Hi jerminhu, please read at first here, scroll down to "How to use": https://github.com/fred41/tbbmalloc_arma These two points are important: "Make sure your arma user account has this privilege set in your local security policies settings (secpol.msc, restart required). If your useraccount, which you use to start arma, is member of the administrator group, you have to start arma as administrator!" The complete target line of my arma3battleye.exe is: "F:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 3\arma3battleye.exe" 0 1 -nologs -nopause -nosplash -world=empty -noFilePatching -malloc=tbbmalloc
  16. According to logfile large page support is enabled when I use arma.exe with battleye.

    RAM Management - Serious Question

I use fred´s malloc only from here: https://github.com/fred41/tbbmalloc_arma/blob/master/binary/tbbmalloc.dll Yes bratwurst, i was a little bit offtopic, sorry. But the largeaddressaware-thing might be ontopic.

    Oculus Rift & Arma 3?

I think the next step for a great future of vr is to mod existing shooters for free aiming like "bullet train" or for example HL2. Please imagine, arma3 with free aiming!

Terrible Frame Rate on Windows 10

Hi lawman_actual, there are some tutorials in the internet, look here for example :)

    RAM Management - Serious Question

Thanks Jimmy. Same results here. I will add two things: 1. the performance gain affects the more important minimum fps, not the average fps. 2. freds malloc tweak gave me roughly 20% more minimum fps in multiplayer (PvP). P.S. Ram is very cheap at the moment :)

    RAM Management - Serious Question

@domokun ram overclocking: https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/156993-arma-3-cpu-vs-ram-performance-comparison-1600-2133-up-to-15-fps-gain/ for cpu overclocking many benchmarks are spread over the internet and in this forum. malloc: https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/154302-arma3-and-the-largeaddressaware-flag-memory-allocation-2gb/ I use Helo´s benchmarks (not much ai) and yab with lots of ai https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/177406-yet-another-arma-benchmark/

Terrible Frame Rate on Windows 10

Its possible your cpu lowers clockspeed of all/some cores when playing arma3. I am logging cpu clockspeed of all 4 cores with hwinfo64+afterburner to make sure all cores are at full speed during gameplay. Maybe a powersave issue in windows and/or bios.

    RAM Management - Serious Question

To make things clear you have to compare different rigs in the same benchsituation so you need 2 runs of the same benchsituation, first run with hardware x, second run with hardware y. Its like you repeat:" the pencil x is longer than pencil y" and as "evidence" you post lots screenshots with single pencils. I have in your theory the worst combination for arma3: 4gb vram (R290), texture settings at ultra and 8GB system Ram. No slowdowns at all. The best for arma3 performance wise I have done was: -switch from HDD to SSD -changed and overclocked ram from 1600 to 2666Mhz. -overclocking CPU to 4.8GHZ. -using fred´s malloc. All verifiable.
  24. jumpinghubert

Terrible Frame Rate on Windows 10

Yes I meant pagefile. Do you have tried lowering texture quality? Is your arma3 installed on HDD or SDD?

    Oculus Rift & Arma 3?

Give fred´s malloc a chance. I pushed from 24fps to 37 minimum fps in mp. On the other hand there is no chance of high fps if the server is crap.
