Arma 3 & Multi threading, anyone noticed improvements?
jumpinghubert replied to t-bone's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I changed 2 weeks ago from 8GB to 16GB and disabled pagefile. No difference in fps and not less stuttering. But ram is very cheap actually so go with 16GB. Buy intel cpu, overclock it, 2400er ram and arma3 on ssd and arma3 will say "thank you". The only tweak with a good effect is to use fred42´s malloc. Please google, you will find a good workaround. GPU wise....what Jimmy wrote. -
Please check 1-if you have exactly all the same ingame settings (copy and paste the arma3 config files from one pc to the other) 2-system settings (pagefile, same malloc, same parameters in arma3-shortcut) 3-gpu and cpu clock ingame in your newer system 4-same monitor, if not: different resolutions? 5-same video drivers and driver settings? 6-whats the windows version of your older rig? 7-are the compared ingame situations really the same? Probably use benchmarks like helo´s one That are all ideas at the moment. There is something heavily wrong with your newer rig.

Hi tpapas, pls report back if or how it works :) -
Vehicle interiors. Merkava MK IV tank for example.
jumpinghubert replied to jakeplissken's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
The complete lack of interior for tanks after that period of time is out of the question, sorry. To fall into a black hole when you change the optics destroys the immersion. Thats why i don´t use tanks in arma3 at all. Not to be worth it and too much work? But a complete new island though we have quadrillions of islands for arma3? Ha.....ha? I would play tons of tank missions if there would be quality over quantity logic tank related. -
There is one aspect made opf campaign very intense: the game was new. Today we all know the mechanics, in other words: In opf we all were children looking at a string puppet theater so all the puppets were lively magically running around like humans. Now we are grown up and see the strings too much :D

Arma 3 & Multi threading, anyone noticed improvements?
jumpinghubert replied to t-bone's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
The bottle of milk was a hint (irony :)) that I meant: some settings, faster ram, higher cpu speed ARE key elements for better fps (and less a better gpu if you have still a good one...or...ehhm...a bottle of milk). My ram is running at 2600Mhz and arma3 loves it. MP is another story, thats right and depends on server hardware and other factors. But thats all preaching to the choir (short of one) :) Same observation from GTX570 to R9 290. I can set better resolution/more aa, but have the same minimum fps). -

I am already taunusifikated so I can´t order tanoa-aloa anymore :D -
Many thanks dwarden and the bi-team for the fix. It seems fred´s malloc is running fine again :)

Me too....

Yes, you need 2x the same picture (minus the difference of the visual angle of each eye) so the real resolution of the rift and the vive is 1080x1200. I wager the 90fps-minimum-story is marketing to let the crowd think: hey, the poor resolution is a good thing so my pc can handle the 90fps in some games. I hope the vive too will be able to get it work in arma3. Here is a similar thread of a rift owner :) https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/190059-arma-in-vr-oculusvive-omnivirtualizer-gun-controller/

New lighting for CUP terrains

Chernarus in early days of arma2, nice distance coloring, realistic overall look: https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/72410-arma-ii-oa-photography-i-no-images-over-100kb-pictures-only-no-comments/?p=1293787 So you have to go again a big step back :D I think its not easy to adapt the new visuals to chernarus because they fits more caribic/southern conditions. -
Freeeeee-heeeeed! Where are you!!!! :D I need the 25% + min fps back. Ontopic: no slowdowns at all after 1 hour mp with -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi and newest amd driver.

FPS Bottoms out randomly due to nil GPU Utilization
jumpinghubert replied to mordeaniischaos's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
My dropping to 1 fps behavior in devbranch was caused by fred42`s custom malloc. Using this "-malloc=tbb4malloc_bi" in the shortcut fixed it on my end. -
Visual Upgrade – Feedback

A well calibrated TN-Panel looks very similar to a well calibrated ips-Panel in average gaming situations. Only in very dark situations there is an advantage/difference for ips-panels. At the end i am happy with the new visuals because I found the sweet spot of gamma/brightness/saturation-settings based on a calibrated monitor. :P @St. Jimmy the lower clouds are looking awesome! -

Instead of everyone simulates everyone´s others settings everyone can give a detailed documentation of his sweet spot settings so everyone with similar hardware/preferences have an orientation. Don´t forget to force 16xAF in windows driver settings and disable AF ingame. Ingame AF to ultra gives only 8xAF. Put Texturefiltering quality in driver settings to "performance", it gives a few fps and don´t change the texture quality. -
Yes, sadly thats true. No drops in dev with deactivated custom malloc on my end too.

In the current dev I get really really very good results with the following ingame settings: Display: (don´t use steam screenshot function because the b & g settings aren´t included) -brightness: 0.95 -gamma: 0.95 AA&PP -bloom: 150 (yes, very much but with new renderers bloom effect is lowered) -brightness: 115 -contrast: 105 -saturation: 100 AO: HBAO+ High (it darkenes grass & ground) Monitorsettings are neutral, no "gaming- or cinematic-mode", rgb-calibrated ips panel. Later I upload 4 screenshots, same spot, 12 o´clock, different weather conditions. edit: -
Some lost souls are interested in up to 25% better performance with fred41´s large page enabling malloc. I am one of them.

Is it correct that with tbb4malloc_bi large pages aren´t enabled? -

The tornado sky is definitly at eyelevel with the example a few pages back with the lighting of the thunderbolt  edit: I meant of course the exceptional aspect like domokun. -
Sry for spreading wrong information...awkward... :803:

Asynchronous Timewarp is a new feature of vorpX, if all what I read is true it seems to push the framerates with good results in project cars for example :).
