    Game defined base classes

There was a misinterpretation of the No-crossposting rule. As one of the senior community moderators, I take responsibility for that, it should have been communicated better. However, Discord is not It is operated by many of the same moderators here on the forum and we share the same rule set. With that in mind, if you would like to ask as a detailed question which may be of use to future users, then the forum is always the place to post it. Carry on.

@_Krok Your most recent post in the Photography channel has been hidden due to mods used (D3S Cars) which contain ripped and IP restricted content.

    Adding New Things

@Internet_ARMA3 Arma takes place in 2035. In that timeline, the M-16/M4 platform (of NATO) had been replaced with the MK16 (FN SCAR). This has basis in the real-life adoption of the SCAR by USSOCOM in 2009 (in use by operational units). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_SCAR So, not having the M-16/M4 platform isn't so unrealistic after all. As for not wanting to pay for DLC (whose sole purpose is to "add to", "augment" and "build upon"), the good news is that Arma gives all of the features of DLC to Non-DLC customers. "A key component of our new approach is the idea that, while new content is paid, new features are entirely free. This enables us to grow the platform with significant new gameplay updates for everyone who owns Arma 3, while offering up great extra content for those players who want to experience it and support our ongoing development." In that vein, mods such as CUP provide a Smörgåsbord of weapons, units, vehicles and terrains ABSOLUTELY FREE! In fact, there are 9 different variants of the M-16/M-4 in CUP Weapons mod alone.
  6. Just seen this So, a 29.2 FPS difference. I think my entire PC build was under £700.... oh, and I have a GTX970, so that GTX 1080 is good for about 4 FPS 😂
  7. In the grand scheme of things, that doesn't mean very much in Arma. Not to mention, you're still reliant on the performance of the server you're playing on and your connection. Sports car and dirt road again. If you're just going to keep it offline and use it for ML, that's another story entirely.
  8. As the former owner of a top of the line Alienware and then a Falcon-NW built PC and on a side note a former owner of a Cray CX-1, I can tell you that wasting money doesn't mean a better machine. Something better will always come along next year. And it certainly doesn't mean the best value. The best one could hope for is to buy "time". That is, invest in something that will last you a long time and keep you in the "sweet spot" the longest. I'm going to brag on my 3570K because it has done just that. Even when I eventually retire it, it will be repurposed for other dedicated tasks. What an individual does with their money is their business, I just want them to be aware that there are other options. As I've always said, don't chase the dragon. An old bull and a young bull An old bull and a young bull were stood on a hillside overlooking a pasture. The young bull says to the old bull, “Hey, let’s run down there and "mount" one of those cows.” The old bull shakes his head in disapprovingly and replies, “why don't we walk down there and "mount" them all.”
  9. Nice post @Groove_C but I think you missed the point. He's thinking of buying an i9 for Arma. That is literally burning money. As many of you know, I still play on i5 3570k and I still run multiple VM's for my research work. From Kaby Lake onwards, the overclocked i3 is more than capable of running Arma at near i9 performance and an i5 is even closer, often times for more than half the cost. My main point (without delving into the technical bits) is that an i9 is too much, costs too much, and wont perform as well as expected. "My car has 1,000 HP and can do 0-100 in 2 seconds flat... Hey dude, this is a dirt road, your car can't even clear the curb let alone the potholes.."
  10. @Kris In your other thread, you mentioned that you were looking at getting an i9 and that you mostly play Arma 3. If you have loads of money that you would just as equally set on fire, then ignore the following. What you are suggesting is the equivalent of buying a supertanker because you like to go fishing. OK, maybe not an exact comparison, but overkill nonetheless. When we look at price vs performance (specifically with regards to Arma) you would be better off with something less pricey. If we compare the i9 to the latest i3 for example, that's $524 for an i9-9900K vs $129 for an i3-8530K (not to mention mobo cost). When you look at one of the latest YAAB (Yet Another Arma Benchmark(s)) for example, the performance difference of their predecessors isn' far off (especially considering the cost). The one thing we don't want to see people do is to break the bank for very limited gains.

SLX was the ACE of its day.

    Is "old man" dead ?

I wouldn't say it's dead, just de-prioritised. We as a community are often critical when things are released that are "less than expected". Maybe they realise this and are taking the time to get it right? I personally, wouldn't mind seeing a remake of the OFP Malden missions on Malden 2035. Or maybe a recreation of the Status Quo mission (also OFP).
  14. I will refer you to this from our Rules: So, no. I will not teach you to port because "porting" means converting someone else's work. Before you attempt to port anything, you first must learn the importance of Consent/Permissions. Without this understanding, any attempt to port something may have dire implications.
  15. The simple answer is "no". The original upload contains 3d models which were mistakenly included (i.e the mod creator did not have permission to include or edit them). As such, you would possibly (inadvertently) reupload protected works. A better route would be to go to the source and seek permission e-mail: tech.support@virtavia.com

One of the CUP devs keeps in contact with her. She is an inspiration for us all!

HAHAHA, I missed that! No, I am not The Avon Lady, she is happily retired in Israel the last time I heard. Also, I've not made anything that is publicly available.

What's your old handle and I'll see if I can find it for you. I played with a few Aussies back in the day, the most memorable was igeighty back in A1 (Arma, the successor to OFP). He ran a Domination server.

    Reloading-Actions for Static weapons?

Please do remember that with the exception of the Old Man update and the 3rd party DLC initiative, there has been no further mention of plans.

@Lord of Ruin Many of us OFP vets are still around. I know of at least one BAS member that's still around, and that's Fer. The newer folks will know him from his work on the F3 Mission Development Framework An observation (and personal opinion) that I'll make is that the newer crowd are less patient and less forgiving than we were (are). I'll gladly low crawl for a mile or wait under a bush for an hour, but the newer players just want to run everywhere they go and carry way too much gear.
