maddogx 13 Posted May 1, 2010 ah i'm not saying you are lying just for the heck of it,maybe you have uploadedyour video without seeing which level of difficulty mode you have set. if you want mate can you upload 2 videos untill i dont upload mine videos? 1 with the easy difficulty mode and the second with expert mode. It was definitely on recruit, no doubt about it. Unfortunately I don't have time to do any more right now, but tomorrow I might get back to it. Though I somehow doubt that any more video evidence will convince you that enemies can't be magically detected, seeing as you're now grasping for straws in order to keep defending your position. *LK1* 10 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) LOL you better give up, you'll have to video document EVERYTHING atleast twice else your a big fat lier :p mmm since you dont seem able to understand very simple things i need to repeat myself:i've said the space bar works differently depends on which difficulty mode you have select. regular mode for example you can spot enemies a mile away from you simply by using your space bar. in expert mode you can spot enemies through the space bar when the game has supposed you have already seen. so is clearly even for guys with psycological problems that if you upload video in regular mode you are not proving anything :rolleyes:. but is not clear to you guys,i'm sure is not because you have some mental problem, but because you want to be facious.really matures. Zipper5 74 Posted May 1, 2010 You have a clear video already, and he's told you what difficulty setting it was on. What's the problem? You need it to be specifically shown in the video? What difference will that make?

Zipper5 74 Posted May 1, 2010 I know from past experiences that your ingame character actually needs to register that he "knows" about the enemy unit before he's displayed in the spacebar scanner. As in seeing him and right clicking him to identify him. This is the same for all difficulties, and it's even the same case if you have "Show enemy tag" enabled in the difficulty options. If you really need me to make a video then I will when I get a chance, but not right now.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted May 1, 2010 Imho you dont get those red target markers if you do only a quick 360° scan. Lets wait and watch ***LeGeNDK1LLER*** video "proofs" incl. difficulty modes. ;)

manzilla 1 Posted May 1, 2010 How about speaking in English, in the English forums, so the rest of us have some idea of what that said. Yeah the space bar thing is kinda weird, although some people use it I'm sure. Personally, and as others mentioned, this is one of the reasons I love using ACE2. It get's rid of that. Not a solution for someone that doesn't want to use ACE2 but yeah I can't relate with that. ;)

CarlGustaffa 4 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) There's tons of unrealistic things in the game, where should we draw the line? At the same place as all the other helps/aids - making it a server controlled difficulty setting instead of forcing it on us. On veteran and expert, sure turn it off completely, like some of the others. On recruit and regular, at least give us the option to choose. Other than recruit which is only there for mission testing purposes, everything except death messages (mostly to catch bad guys) is turned off on ALL difficulty setting. The only thing different being skill and accuracy setting. What's this arguing about difficulty mode? It means absolutely nothing. Spacebar scan will work on ANY difficulty mode behind buildings and terrain, as long as a positive ID has been made on him. Tested with latest beta and no addons. If you use simply reveal, your enemy on the map (using extendedmapinfo) will show up as yellow, but rifleman (lol, how? very odd indeed :)) With this he will not show up during spacebarscan. Edit: Turns out to be wrong, it's just that the "go to house position" interface overrides in my particular test. Try another approach. Put yourself and a group member 1000 m apart, with an enemy right next to your group member. Make sure "Special" is set to "None", and put this in his init field: "this setCaptive true; removeAllWeapons this" (makes him not get shot, and he doesn't shoot the enemy). Now he will make a positive ID on the enemy, and you can spacesbarcan him on ANY difficulty mode behind terrain and buildings. Not being able to get rid of this "aid" in a trivial fashion (difficulty setting) is what is the real problem with this feature is!! Waiting for ACE to do it for us or mod every single mission is NOT trivial. The ACE way is btw also not optimal since it removes waypoint text which might be used by some missions. Does it have a purpose at all? YES! So we can't just get rid of it. When working with AI you can give him attack orders from here, with an indication (unit type, distance, and direction) on who the target is. That has been wildly lacking using the 2-Target menu. But it destroys regular coop games and TvT games where this feature gives us a magic ability. And naturally I assume that you're playing with autoreveal turned off at all times. I even recommend unbinding it from the right mouse button, to a specific button. Often with AI you want to zoom in on enemy or use scope, a long time before you're ready to reveal to them where the enemy is. Mostly a gaming quirk, if you're as lazy as myself wrt setting modes, or don't want that nagging voice in multiplayer :) Within spoiler is a mission.sqm you can test with yourself. Make a new missionname.utes directory in your missions directory, and save the contents as mission.sqm version=11; class Mission { addOns[]= { "cacharacters2", "utes" }; addOnsAuto[]= { "cacharacters2", "utes" }; randomSeed=8599631; class Intel { startWeather=0.40000001; forecastWeather=0.25; year=2008; month=10; day=11; hour=14; minute=20; }; class Groups { items=3; class Item0 { side="WEST"; class Vehicles { items=2; class Item0 { position[]={3654.5349,26.795101,3384.1299}; id=0; side="WEST"; vehicle="USMC_Soldier"; player="PLAYER COMMANDER"; leader=1; skill=0.60000002; init="player reveal b"; }; class Item1 { position[]={3657.6196,9.9440145,4404.8569}; azimut=180; special="NONE"; id=2; side="WEST"; vehicle="USMC_Soldier"; skill=0.60000002; init="this setCaptive true; removeAllWeapons this"; }; }; }; class Item1 { side="EAST"; class Vehicles { items=1; class Item0 { position[]={3665.4875,15.397958,4390.355}; azimut=150.953; id=1; side="EAST"; vehicle="RU_Soldier"; leader=1; skill=0.60000002; text="a"; init="this setUnitPos ""DOWN"""; }; }; }; class Item2 { side="EAST"; class Vehicles { items=1; class Item0 { position[]={3770.2813,19,3534.1521}; azimut=150.953; id=3; side="EAST"; vehicle="RU_Soldier"; leader=1; skill=0.60000002; text="b"; init="this setUnitPos ""DOWN"""; }; }; }; }; }; class Intro { addOns[]= { "utes" }; addOnsAuto[]= { "utes" }; randomSeed=3957167; class Intel { startWeather=0.40000001; forecastWeather=0.25; year=2008; month=10; day=11; hour=14; minute=20; }; }; class OutroWin { addOns[]= { "utes" }; addOnsAuto[]= { "utes" }; randomSeed=13970772; class Intel { startWeather=0.40000001; forecastWeather=0.25; year=2008; month=10; day=11; hour=14; minute=20; }; }; class OutroLoose { addOns[]= { "utes" }; addOnsAuto[]= { "utes" }; randomSeed=8633520; class Intel { startWeather=0.40000001; forecastWeather=0.25; year=2008; month=10; day=11; hour=14; minute=20; }; }; Edited May 1, 2010 by CarlGustaffa
max power 21 Posted May 1, 2010 The issue is that this feature is not really for scanning around or establishing distances. It is for commanding your squad. In the OFP days we had right click spamming. I guess they have the distance marker there to distinguish between two targets that are close together. I think they should not take the spacebar reporting off, but maybe make it so you don't have so much feedback in higher difficulties.

CarlGustaffa 4 Posted May 1, 2010 Very true, a commanding feature it is, and a very helpful one at that. Unfortunately what can be exploited will be exploited. So we need means to limit exploitability, even if that means loosing this feature if we want to loose it. But server admins must be able to control it. maxsword 10 Posted May 1, 2010 I personally agree on having the space bar feature disabled at all. It bothers me in COOP missions and it is definitely disgusting used during PvP matches. Hope that BIS will turn this thing out for good. This is THE military simulator, I don't wanna spend thousands of Euro buying VTS and in my opinion JCOVE, even if realistic, is no so much flexible as ArmA2.
