Tankbuster 1747 Posted February 14, 2010 You won't easily find the campaign. It's actually for Armed Assault, not for ArmA 2.
cm. 10 Posted February 14, 2010 where is the link to the awards?????

Tankbuster 1747 Posted February 14, 2010 Perhaps the question cm. is asking is where is the BI announcement about the winners here on the forums? Some might say that because they cocked it up by allowing an Armed Assault campaign to enter and then watch it get spam voted to win the award, they are a little embarrassed by the whole affair. Zipper5 74 Posted February 14, 2010 I see no reason why BIS should be embarrassed. They were for ArmA and ArmA II community made content, so having an ArmA campaign win is ok. They just need to fix the typo blunder saying it's for ArmA II. It's also the community awards, and if the community chooses to spam vote, then that is fine, as it's members of the community. Everyone has their own opinion of who should have won, and it's nice to see that the things I voted for either won or were in the top 5. To be honest, the most rewarding thing for a content maker should be the fact that people like and use their product, not an award. Though, I won't deny that getting an award always helps. People voted fair and square. Would been nice with some more places for winners to lift some more of the big pool of talents this community has, but thats for the future to tell if that happens. Tankbuster 1747 Posted February 14, 2010 What on earth are you babbling about dear? Well, Armed Assault came out in 2006. Are we saying that a campaign made for a game four years old is better than the other nominees (for the current game) for that award? A campaign that is in Russian language too. I played the Sarmat campaign on Armed Assault and it was good, if rather hard to understand. But there is no way it's better than Cipher, Domination or Benny (apologies to Kheiro, I've never played First War). This really does insult those guys. That's just my opinion, of course. With BI not really concentrating on Armed Assault any more, it's less than ideal to have the community give such a nod to a game that's not really the current thing. I'm told that the Russian community mobilised themselves quite effectively. Imagine how chuffed Ford would be if Car of the Year award went to the Mk 5 Escort, just as the spangly new Ford Focus was just rolling off the production line. I suggest you go and read the ArmA / ArmA 2 Community Awards 2009! thread again. If you do you would notice this paragraph: The categories are as follows: Best ArmA/ArmA2 Addon/Mod Best ArmA/ArmA2 Mission/Campaign Best ArmA/ArmA2 User Created Movie Best ArmA/ArmA2 Website Best Community Member Nowhere it says that an ArmA Addon, Mod, Mission or Campaign is not allowed. The opposite is the case. Also nowhere it says that the Addon, Mod, Mission or Campaign must be in english language. So your complaint about an ArmA1 campaign in russian language has won the award is completely pointless. I'm told that the Russian community mobilised themselves quite effectively.Imagine how chuffed Ford would be if Car of the Year award went to the Mk 5 Escort, just as the spangly new Ford Focus was just rolling off the production line. If they mobilised that effectively how come then no russian Addon or Mod has won? There are quite a few around for both ArmA and ArmA2. Besides that, the majority voted for that campaign - the campaign won. Well organized or not - that's called democracy, no matter if you like the result or not, no matter if ArmA is 4 years old or not. vasmkd 12 Posted February 15, 2010 Tankbuster So what if the campaign is in Russian Language Are u saying it's not acceptable to give awards to ppl who don't speak english? Remember ur favourite game is made by non-english speaking people as are alot of other games of the highest qualities
Opticalsnare 12 Posted February 15, 2010 I agree with you tankbuster, i also felt there was some unfair spam voting going on. Its not that none of the mods i voted for made it it just felt corrupt and ruined. How did SARMAT manage to get in on like all the differnt nominations. Sorry it just feels like the bloody eurovison song contest to me. :j:
december 0 Posted February 15, 2010 I didn't vote so maybe I don't have the right to comment. However, I watched the winning movie and was very disappointed, no story with just a lot of slowmo footage, there must gave been something better than that or was the purpose of the awards just to showcase the game? However, I watched the winning movie and was very disappointed, no story with just a lot of slowmo footage, there must gave been something better than that or was the purpose of the awards just to showcase the game? What exactly you want to say with that? That BIS has picked the movie because it could serve as a showcase and ignored the 'real' winner? Once again: The community voted for each of the winners. The contestant who collected the most votes won, what is so hard to understand here?
cm. 10 Posted February 15, 2010 SARMAT was looking very suspicious....
Vick 19 Posted February 15, 2010 im fully aware of all the winners, have watched the video, currently play the ace mod, have seen sickboy on the forums, i use armaholic etc etc one thing though, ive NEVER EVER heard of sarmat. ever. but you can call it democracy and try to pull a Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and paint it up to be a-ok. ---------- Post added at 01:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:14 AM ---------- TankbusterSo what if the campaign is in Russian Language Are u saying it's not acceptable to give awards to ppl who don't speak english? vasmkd 12 Posted February 15, 2010 Sarmat are awesome, i can't wait for some of there releases http://arma.at.ua/
Vick 19 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) and then watch it get spam voted to win the award, they are a little embarrassed by the whole affair. that happens in EVERY game that holds a comp where the community can vote. literally EVERY one. usually the company takes precautions deletes the votes from brand new accounts that go inactive almost instantly and stuff like that. anyways i looked at some of sarmats stuff and it looks pretty sick. vasmkd 12 Posted February 15, 2010 he never said that, and i love russia myself you took it out of context and or have a guilty conscious Have a read of post 9, Obviously if he didn't he needs to learn english properly so it doesn't sound bad. And what is the guilty consious crap ur talking about, guilty about what?
Vick 19 Posted February 15, 2010 Have a read of post 9, Obviously if he didn't he needs to learn english properly so it doesn't sound bad.And what is the guilty consious crap ur talking about, guilty about what? "A campaign that is in Russian language too. I played the Sarmat campaign on Armed Assault and it was good" certainly wasnt insulting it. even stated it was his opinion and never claimed it to be fact. i was saying you read that and tried blowing up to mean more than it did. (btw, russia speaks russian, america doesnt germany doesnt france doesnt uk doesnt belgium doesnt turkey doesnt china doesnt japan doesnt india doesnt australia doesnt(which BIS has an australian team too, they speak english.), and the list goes on and on, compare that to how many countrys teach english in their school and have it as a second language in their country.) in other words, compare the world- how many speak/understand english- compared to how many speak/understand russian. with that said im not in awe that he was surprised sarmat won. nor do i think he wants to personally attack russians. and "learn english properly so it doesn't sound bad." thats what i was talking about your guilty conscious. i didnt see anything offensive against russians. its all in the eyes of the beholder, if you thought he was being rude, its because YOU thought he was. either way none of this really matter. sparks50 0 Posted February 15, 2010 Is this the award whining thread? Very well :D I think we all love Armaholic, ACE mod, and Sickboy, and the repeated awards are probably well deserved. I would however suggest to to disqualify winners from taking part in later awards, so that new positive changes in the community can be highlighted, like for example the Devheaven site. Otherwise, its hard to imagine Armaholic (well deserved because it is the best and biggest community site for the Arma games) not taking the 2010 and 2011 awards too. But with that said, congrats to all the winners!

Now read it the way it is above Vick, don't leave out the text it corresponds too. And just for ur info mate i did ask him what he meant and not you, please read it carefully. Accusing me of blowing up what he said is ridicolous, i asked him what he meant by it (read it) and not u and please be patient till i get a reply from him as i did ask Tankbuster and not urself. jdmt 12 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) Where is this huge Russian community hiding? How could they beat Domination or Warfare BE, with a campaign I've never heard of? I'd like to see the total votes for the categories, and the percentages. I think Best Mod/Mission/Video should be something that was made in the award year, that would mean previous winners can't win twice. vasmkd 12 Posted February 15, 2010 I'm pretty sure this Sarmat campaign came out in 2009 So votes are right as u can only win in year of release
Wass 1 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) I'd like to see the total votes for the categories, and the percentages. We'd like to see it too. There two separate parts of russian community. Flashpoint.ru community, and Sarmat studio community... i guess, it doesnt matter for you, but please, dont blame all community if some part of this has make a mistake or something like this... But maybe i wrong and ArmA/ArmA2 community has play and love "svoboda" campaign and vote for it, so if its so, my congratulations fo sarmat studio. Looks like our campaigns (OTK Studio) not so good, as "svoboda" campaign... I didnt play it, but maybe i must do it now.
