New Trailer

It looks AMAZING!!! </sarcasm>

Combine the story (which looks to be straight out of a cracker jack box) with Ubishaft's DRM and you've got another game I won't be buying.

Lets add them up shall we :)

Ubisuck games Bangtail won't be buying :

SH5

PoP : Whatever it's called

AssCreed 2

Settlers 7

Shoot em up Cell (and miss the entire reason for that franchise in the 1st place)

GR:Predator/Starwarsfighter

Keep it up Ubitrash, you're saving me hundreds of dollars :)

I thought this was pretty awesome. I'm actually very excited for this game. Sorry but, I'm not a hardcore GR fan, so none of this angers me. If your wondering why this technology was included, there is a discussion revolving around the optical camo shown at the Ubisoft forums. UbiKimi said that reveal why it's in there.

I've never really been a GR fan with the exception of the first game maybe. I found OFP while I was playing it though and so I only made it like 4 levels in before I realized OFP was far better. I just think it kind of sucks that they took a very realistic game and keep making it more and more far fetched and unrealistic. However, I guess it is good that it is slightly different from COD, MoH, and BC. It kind of falls between those and Halo I guess.

I see your concern. I'm a console gamer, but I have known about the things that PC gamers hate and are upset about, so I can see why they are upset about the direction of this game and the fact that the major game developers don't care about the platform as much as they used to.

The fact is, they can make the game just reasonablily(not completely as its not possible) as good/realistic as the old days, even if they are console game, but they dont because UlterBullshIt, just like other companys, want it to be "Cool" and "kickass" and full of shiney GFX and wow effect and cool pixel weapons so that kids and never-grown-ups and armchair soldiers wantabes will look at a tons of rendered shots and video and shouting "COOL" or "kickass" or whatever they can think of to hype the game to a new level, and sell the game good and fast and for some easy money and do the same next year so they can milk money again.

Soon or late those big companies (Ubisoft, codemaster,...) will pay for what they're doing to "their" epic series (R6, OFP,...).

They're digging their own grave and I'll be quite happy when I'll see them liying into it.

Popular is different from good. Britney Spears is popular but she's not a good singer. Hell, even Hitler was popular.

They're thinking with their wallet and that's probably why they're only making stupid decisions.

You need a BRAIN to think...

I know my comment is useless but d*mn I'm so pissed off to see those series falling that low and so many people blindly believing their lies.

Like they said, the important thing is not the falling but the landing.

Now those companies think : "so far so good". They can't see the ground behind the wall of money. They might even think they're flying !

But companies don't fly, and the ground is coming closer and closer.

LOL Iron man missile thingy was exactly what i was thinking when i saw that. I mean even In battletech soldiers had to carry bigger missile units let alone wearing big cubrsome suit of armor to accommodate it..... and that was 1000 years into the future...... (I love Battletech by the way).

And the drone.... sure why not, cause when I think "Ghosts" I think Awesome big drones in the middle of the street as part of our "stealth" mission. Who needs the stupid cloaking devices when you got big ass drone with you......actually you need it to look "cool" when disappearing in the end of the video.

The death of another great tactical shooter.

Rainbow Six died with Lockdown, Ghost Recon died with GRAW, OFP died with OF:DR...

With the way things 'evolved' i am damn grateful nobody decided to make a SWAT 5 or a Hidden and Dangerous 3, and at least let them die peacefully.

I would love nothing more then true sequels for these games but the sad reality is that it isn't going to happen. At least not any time soon.

Modern day game developers make me puke. The capitalism that drives them killed so much.

Why oh why couldnt they just leave the tactical shooter genre alone?

Now i even have to define two genres within 'tactical shooter', that of Oldschool tactical shooters, meaning it's actually realistic and open in gameplay, and that of 'modern tactical shooter' which is nothing more then arcade crap in a little bit wider tunnels than we are used to from Call of Duty, labeled as 'freedom' and 'truely tactical'.

A few years ago I used a nickname called Madcap Magician (from Dan Brown novels) at a certain forum. One guy told me not to hold much credibility in using the name Madcap Magician because there would never be remote controlled aircraft firing missiles or being launched from another aircraft OR aircraft firing lasers that could take out a missile.

I say that to say this: There is technology out there right now that is being used in R&D for cloaking devices.

I bet if someone would have said ten years ago there's no way they'll be flying a remote controlled loach from an Apache people would have been surprised by that.

Speaking of remote controlled, UH1B models were flown by r/c out near FT. Bliss for training for the ADA guys back in the early 90's. IDK what they're using now if anything.

I mean this is GR:Future Soldier right? Just my two cents.

It's definitely there in a conceptual capacity.

I seriously doubt there are 'Predator' soldiers running around on the modern battlefield tbh.

Of course, anything is possible but I think the reason most people are annoyed is that like every other franchise today's Ubisoft is involved in, the 'heart' of the game has been ripped out in favour of flashy graphics, a ridiculous story and draconian DRM all in pursuit of a quick payoff with no regard for the integrity of the original concept.

Simple! Just call it "future soldier" and stop messing around with the name "Ghost Recon" then we are all cool with it:D

GRAW was good, GRAW 2 was ok. This. We'll just have to wait and see.

Wait what ? :( Ok I played those, decent games like both R6 Vegas but still they're shit compared to the 2001 Ghost Recon and Raven Shield ... I ain't even sure I could call those, "sequels", tactical shooters ..

Rainbow6, H&D, Ofp, Ghost Recon, SWAT .... Sweet memories. :butbut:

I just realized I didn't really know what a facepalm was until those troops shot those photon torpedos the diameter of quarters out of their shoulders to destroy an mbt. That really redefined it for me.

Sad, but true...:(

I share your disgust, mate, but don't bother, it's useless.

Thank God for Operation Arrowhead.

Put a smile on our faces BIS.

Lets put it this way, yes everything is possible in the future but it requires a lot of work to make it look and function in a believable (that-might-actually-be-available-in-a-few-years) way. And frankly speaking Ubisoft couldn't even handle modern era or slightly into the future era games with the same professionalism that the games that they ripped their names out of did. How can they be expected to deliver a credible futuristic -supposedly realistic- tactical shooter ?

Still have Raven Shield install and till today its miles ahead compare to R6:V as the pure CQB tactical shooter, hell, R6:V cant even be called a tactical shooter.

Amen

RS is probably the best CQB game ever and brilliant sound (that has never been surpassed IMHO).

I have to add my voice to this thread again... I was curious about this game, maybe wishing even that they would get their heads straight ad make it somthing like the original. Well that wont be happening and neither will me spending another penny in lost hope of an original remake.

Me ad a friend actually installed the original the other day, i tell you what its still vry good fun and brings back soooo many memories. Alright it does look vry dated now, but pfffft to that it still plays well.

I'm not quite so sure about that. It was the last of the good R6 games (a "true" R6 game) but I'd say Rogue Spear was a superior game. The rediculous bugs ruined the experience for me in Raven Shield and their god aweful "patching" lol. Beyond the bugs though (and the insta-aim/shoot/youdie AI that was alerted by a fart you've not yet done) it was a good game. Those bugs just tended to get in the way of the implementation in places.

Rogue Spear holds my preference over Raven Shield, IMO it plays better and i like the movement feel better :)
