therev709 10 Posted February 5, 2010 My answer here: Yes I played 1.1. This is in fact what I did not know at first. In fact, I never found the spotter while keeping a safe distance of the IED. This is why I turned around. He was a sneaky one :) What I was saying is that I was not able to report that IED based on the fact that I did not find the spotter. I understood later at the second IED that I had to find the spotter to report it ... but it was not obvious at the first one. Briefly, maybe we should be able to report it without killing the spotter. It would have been my pleasure to send him to heaven for what he tried to do ... but I was not able to find without risking the life of my team mates. It was a comment ...not such a big deal. But in my case, it broke my heart to find an exploded humvee later on, while I knew all along that the IED was there. I think between this and a few other things a v1.2 is in order . . . froggyluv 2136 Posted February 5, 2010 That IED response team was one of my favorite details in the mission (still haven't finished it!). Adds so much flavor and makes the world seem more alive. Speaking of which, how about adding just a few civilians around in random locations and maybe even a terrorist or 2. The villages seem mighty empty as it is. Maybe the Alice module is too heavy but a few well placed civilians can help keep up the immersion a little. Hope you make more of these:)
therev709 10 Posted February 5, 2010 v1.2 is now in the works :) Problem with civilians was performance, but I'm gonna see what i can do ;) ---------- Post added at 08:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:02 PM ---------- Planned 1.2 change list: -improved Hasam chase -reworked pilot rescue OBJ -ambient civilians -improve IED report structure -whatever else i determine could be improved ;)
therev709 10 Posted February 5, 2010 Well 1.2 is done . . . and I'm pretty happy with it :) However, I haven't had much time to play test it and because I have work this weekend I wont be able to thoroughly test it until Monday . . . so does anyone want to beta test this for me over the weekend? thales100 10 Posted February 6, 2010 so does anyone want to beta test this for me over the weekend? Yes i have free time in the weekend, if you want i can beta test it, and take those screenshots. :)
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted February 6, 2010 Ok buddy, tested the beta and here's my feedback: 1. Performance is significantly and noticably reduced along with increased stuttering. In fact, menu response is so slow now I had to activate the Report In menu option twice with about 5 seconds in between before charlie rock starts talking and of course, he repeated his message twice. Cruncho's message also came in about 5 seconds after reporting in. Was much faster before. 2. Saw the civis.... really increases the immersion. Road block by CDF near base a little redundant though. 3. ok, I messed around a bit. After the conversation with cruncho, I hopped on the bmp-2 just to see where they go and surprisingly, we were all dropped in a location about 500m north-west then the vehicles disappeared while the guys are still around. They were not deleted immediately, so I recruited a bunch of them while the rest disappeared. 4. Hasam isn't the same turban guy but a white laborer... how come? I tested the shooting the leg thing and it worked. :) He fell and tried to crawl away and then I walk up and "STOP" him. More feedback on the way... still playing.. horrgakx 1 Posted February 11, 2010 (edited) I managed (finally, after 4 days), to get this to run!!!! OMG what a pain in the ass to get this working - ACE that is. I tried SixUpdater and it didn't work, I tried AddonSync and that is bugged to hell. And I found out that I can't have some characters in the @directory.names-or-it.messes.up  and some of the directories needed to be manually installed and ... :391: If I can post my first impressions, I'm sure its not running right. It might be to do with some errors that popped up when the mission loaded though it continued okay. 1) What happened to the colour? I thought I had kicked my monitor cable! 2) My weapon is a pistol - I couldn't see any others to pick up. 3) It took AGES to get to the first waypoint, another age to get to the second, and I quit to come & write this when I saw how far away the third waypoint in Qom-Islapete was!!! 4) My speech has gone. When I order my men (for example) into a formation, I don't say anything and neither do they. 5) My distance to the waypoint has gone 6) When I select my men, the distance and labels to them has gone. I played as far as interrogating the guy with the sandy coloured hat (was meant to be green so the brief said) but as in point 3 I saved & quit when I saw how far it was! Thanks in advance. It sounds like you are having alot os issues due to a corrupt or bad ACE install or something. The speech thing is fixed by putting your character class in the userconfig of ACE. As far as the other stuff, I have no issue with playing Jackal's Hunt or I would help ya!

Thanks in advance. 1) I added a post processing effect to change the atmosphere, so its much more green and yellow than normal. 2) I don't know why you only have a pistol, did you install the latst RH M4/16 an RH HK416 pack? Also, there are extra weapons in the humvee, as well as ammo crates next to the TOC (check your map). 3) I use the entire map for this mission, but its a very small map compared to Chenarus and most other maps. Plus I add music/intel over the radio/ and little surprises left by the baddies for when you're driving around. Wait, you did take the GMV (Humvee with all the machine guns) with you? If you manually installed Ace you might not have one of these as this was included with a later version. 4) Ace disables the speech for basic radio commands, but you can reinable it in your Ace config (and when I mention Ace throughout all of this I'm referring to Ace2). I personally don't like hearing "GO! I'm Covering!" five thousand times lol. 5) I don't understand what you mean by this? 6) I don't understand what you mean by this too . . . perhaps its an Ace2 thing cause I've been playing it for so long lol and don't notice the difference anymore. To fix most of your problems I suggest getting the Six Updater working. Its very simple once you figure it out, I also had to tinker with it a bit at first too. Here is a walkthrough video the Ace2 team put together, it'll show you just what to do.
Iraq Ninja 10 Posted February 12, 2010 Ranger, I have been enjoying this SP, and just wanted to add a few points in regards to reality and IEDs. Using tires is good, but not in the middle of the road. They call em road side bombs for a reason :). The blue barrels are good too, and quite common in the middle east. Another idea is using dead animals, such as dogs or cattle. Spotting an IED in the real world is difficult at best. Not sure how to do this in the game, other than putting something like an arty shell in the tire and have it visible if you use your binos. You put the IEDs at choke points, which is good. One option is to have an ied activated after you roll past it. Not set off, just set up. This simulates the bad habit of using the same route twice on a mission. The guys who normally set off the IEDs are not armed so they can blend in after they set it off. One option is to have them laying in the prone watching, or another one with a video camera filming you. These are what we call threat indicators that add up to tell you something is up. I know that the IEDs are just a small part of your mission, but I hope my observations may help. My only other problems are game and ACE related, not mission related. The Bad Guys are way too observant and too good at shooting at times. My team needs to spend more time at the range since they waste a lot of ammo too :). therev709 10 Posted February 13, 2010 Thanks for the tips Ninja, and I'm glad you're enjoying the mission! I never deployed but we did a ton of IED scenario drills while I was in the KY Guard, and I know I sacrificed reality for gameplay. For Jackal's Hunt IEDs were kinda last minute addition and eventually grew to be included all throughout the mission. I decided to go the direction I did in JH for gameplay's sake versus reality because I didn't want to detract from the main objectives. I do have some ideas and wan't to do a mission focused on IEDs and EOD, but for now its just an idea, however I'm writing down your suggestions ;)
thales100 10 Posted February 14, 2010 Some few more screenshots, click to open / download 5040x1050, great new weapons pack in the latest beta.
therev709 10 Posted February 14, 2010 Awesome screenshots!!! I wish I wasn't out of town cause I still wanna play with those SCARs!! And get this out of beta phase and out to the public :) Gonna shoot for a Tuesday release :) As for The Spooky Six, its coming along quite nicely. Very little has actually been developed thus far, mostly just testing new gameplay concepts. The whole campaign outline is just about done, and once I get back home and release Jackal's Hunt 1.2 I'll be digging into knocking out The Spooky Six. The Spooky Six Featuers: Branching campaign where your decisions in one mission will determine the campaign path. Five different paths to complete the mission, each with its own climactic ending. The campaign will put the player in the boots of British SBS operative "Spook," where the player will determine the how the character came to be and why he wears the skull mask. Complete voice acting from a variety of very helpful community members. Music from popular video games and movies. Technical advisory from various military veterans. Custom cinematic cutscenes for each mission.
horrgakx 1 Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) Just been away for the weekend and thought I'd get cracking on this again. So I've got rid of the errors now, it seems to be working okay as far as I can tell (except for a crash to desktop as explained below); 1) What happened to the colour? I thought I had kicked my monitor cable! I added a post processing effect to change the atmosphere, so its much more green and yellow than normal. Ok. 2) My weapon is a pistol - I couldn't see any others to pick up. I don't know why you only have a pistol, did you install the latst RH M4/16 an RH HK416 pack? Also, there are extra weapons in the humvee, as well as ammo crates next to the TOC (check your map). I have the pack installed okay, it doesn't give any errors now. BUT I still have the pistol. I also made my way back to the humvee, went round the back, and chose "Gear" from my popup menu. I immediately got a crash to desktop :( I reloaded, tried again, and exactly the same happens. Any ideas on this one? 3) It took AGES to get to the first waypoint, another age to get to the second, ... Wait, you did take the GMV (Humvee with all the machine guns) with you? No, I went on foot. I have since got back to the humvee as I didn't think to take it first time round. But see my point above; when I try to select 'Gear' I get a crash to desktop. 4) My speech has gone. When I order my men (for example) into a formation, I don't say anything and neither do they. Ace disables the speech for basic radio commands, but you can reinable it in your Ace config I'll have a look at enabling it thanks, I'll search Google. 5) My distance to the waypoint has gone I don't understand what you mean by this? Ok - you know when the yellow inverted arrow is displayed when you have your waypoint active - so you know which way to go? There is usually a distance in metres underneath it, but the distance isn't displayed. 6) When I select my men, the distance and labels to them has gone. I don't understand what you mean by this too . . . perhaps its an Ace2 thing cause I've been playing it for so long lol and don't notice the difference anymore. Same thing as above - when you select a man (with F2 for example), your diamond indicator over your man turns bold. Usually it displays "2" to confirm which unit is selected, and also it displays the distance to that man. Neither of these are displayed (only the green diamond). Thanks. (EDIT) - it might be worth saying that I didn't spot the IED until I was on my way back to the base from the waypoint in the south. I was on foot and missed it on the way down but on the way back I saw some smoke and investigated. I found a barrel and a burned out wreck of a humvee (which I later realised was meant to be there when someone was sent to secure it - but they got blown up. At that point I glanced at my map and saw a terrorist marked on the map. I went back and shot him with my pistol. Probably not as intended and probably not that useful as most people wouldn't make the mistake I did :) Edited February 14, 2010 by horrgakx

therev709 10 Posted February 14, 2010 2) My weapon is a pistol - I couldn't see any others to pick up. I don't know why you only have a pistol, did you install the latst RH M4/16 an RH HK416 pack? Any ideas on this one? Hmm I'm honestly stumped by this. The only thing I can think of is an issue with the addons pack, considering (AFAIK) noone else is having this issue. Try redownloading the required addons and reinstalling them is all I can think of to do. I'm out of town till Tuesday but I'll double check the code then. Usually it displays "2" to confirm which unit is selected, and also it displays the distance to that man. Neither of these are displayed (only the green diamond). Ohhhh ok :) Lol I figured thats what you meant but I wasn't sure. Its probably just an Ace2 thing, and maybe some thing you can configure in the userconfig. Otherwise I'm not sure, but you can still see the distance between the objectives when you open your map. Probably not as intended and probably not that useful as most people wouldn't make the mistake I did :) This will be fixed in v1.2, where the EOD team wont be killed if you fail to eliminate the spotter. Although I'm reconsidering this, so when you see the smolding Humvee wreck it'll be a reminder of the dangers that await you ;)

horrgakx 1 Posted February 15, 2010 I have to say i'm enjoying it. Its quite challenging!! I think it must be a combination of clever mission design and the ACE mod but the AI in the game is horrendous. If I have to revert 5 times, at least 4 times are due to severely stupid AI who run in front of cover in firefights and can't even drive a vehicle without reversing and going over the same bl00dy spot 3 times. I thought a lot of AI issues like this were improved in the last updates!!? "MEDIC!!!" "No, you can die in pain for being so stupid, it's called Darwinism!!" Nice mission design though :)
