Dedicated server no longer showing in game list after update to 1.05

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

We run two ARMA 2 servers and they were both updated by our dedicated server provider today. Our member only server still shows in the in-game search but the public server no longer shows up at all since the update. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tromac

Have exactly the same problem. Can't find out servers in the in-game browser.

Can find it using the remote and keying the IP address. What's odd is that the in-game browser states BattlEye is not running on the server, but if I look in the server window it states BattlEye is started. Have a support ticket raised with our GSP.

Also if I goto to http://arma2.swec.se/server/list and type our server name its not displayed, have to click on down to get the server to be displayed, its clearly not down as I've joined the server and successfully started a game.

I just checked http://arma2.swec.se/server/list and found the same thing. What is going on?

Same problem here.

It seems to be some gamespy masterserver problem as I found those message in the server log

109/11/23, 13:01:53 Warning Message: No challenge value was received from the master server.
109/11/23, 13:01:53 GameSpy QR2 error: 5, No challenge value was received from the master server.

Same here.

It looks like a GameSpy related issue.

Warning Message: No challenge value was received from the master server.

I get exactly the same message in game.

Any updates on work arounds?

How come most servers are still showing up in the list but not ours :(

just fast check, do you have multiple IPs / network interfaces on the system where server is running ?

if not any NAT/ICS or firewall? (on the machine or router between the machine and internet)

No, single IP, no firewall on a dedicated server connected straight to the interwebs.

It was working fine before the update, immediately after the update was installed the error started. Downgrading fixes it.

what about these multiple IPs/interfaces ?

The problem also happens when I host a multiplayer game on my computer.

My friends can't join me because my hosted game (not dedicated) is not listed by GameSpy.

I get this message:

No challenge value was received from the master server
in game

I definitely think there is a problem on their side.

No, only one interface with only one IP, listening on 0.0.0.0 anyway.

I can ping that IP fine.

One interface and one IP.

No DNS issue with arma2pc.master.gamespy.com.

I am happy to announce that this issue has just spontaneously fixed itself. Good show gamespy!

Same issue on my server now.

GameSpy QR2 Error 5, No challenge val was received from mater server.

I'm kind of curious about one thing. Say 5 or more years down the road I want to fire up an ArmA-II session with some old friends, and maybe Gamespy is out of business down the road, Does this mean we're petty much out of luck at that point?

I just removed it from my server.cfg, it still won't connect. Says session lost. Whats strange is, the client game "is" seeing the server, because if I "intentionally" put the wrong password in, the client game will complain that I entered the wrong pass, which means that the client is seeing the server and the server is there in the Lan list. Why am I even getting a gamespy error when I'm trying to run a Lan, as I've been doing for a few weeks now. Also, my Reporting IP is fu.fu.com. I have no idea what is causing this.

EDIT Fixed

The last two add-ons I added had capital letters in them, which showed up when I started the server in diagnostic mode.

./server = start server

Ctrl C = stop server

I renamed them and the Session Lost, No Challenge error is gone!
