Bernadotte 0 Posted June 14, 2003 I've just watched a CNN special program called Quest for Peace in which the anchor said: Quote[/b] ]Ariel Sharon was born in 1928 on a farm outside Tel Aviv, where he grew up with his parents and an older sister. The family had come to Israel from Russia seven years earlier to farm the Promised Land. Wrong. Sharon's parents came to Palestine. Sharon was born in Palestine. Israel didn't exist until 1948. Sometimes I'm not sure what's more dangerous; Hamas not recognising the present existence of Israel or CNN not recognising the former existence of Palestine. bn880 5 Posted June 14, 2003 The real reason: Allowing the Palestinian Arabs living in Israel's occupied territories to become Israeli citizens would have resulted in Israel's total population becoming majority non-Jewish. Yep, the population growth problem of Israelis vs Palestinians seems to be a major problem. So, I guess it's just a part of life, but now the idea is to have seperate states, why not then end the violence.
Bernadotte 0 Posted June 14, 2003 So, I guess it's just a part of life, but now the idea is to have seperate states, why not then end the violence. Â The problem is that the "Roadmap" does not describe what the state of Palestine should look like. Â All we know is that Sharon considered Barak's 2000 offer to be far too generous. What do you think of Barak's offer? You can imagine what the Palestinians think.

Tovarish 0 Posted June 14, 2003 Democrats are criticising Bush for not being pro Israel enough? Yeah I think I had to re-read that three times, pinch myself to make sure I was awake, and check the level of the bottle of vodka sitting on my dresser before I was sure I was reading it right. GoOB 0 Posted June 17, 2003 I thought Hamas was a pretty evolved organisation, and not "ragtag" but I agree that everytime the Israelis bomb in retalliation you hear that they have killed two or three high profile Hamas members. I dont like either sides approach, I wouldn't want some guy coming into my house declaring that it is his and i can have half of it. Then not setteling for having half my house and trying to steal more. I'd revolt too, but killing civilians the way Hamas and other organisations involve in isn't the way to get the guy out. Israel is far from right, they should treat the Palestinians with respect and withdraw from the occupied territories. And try to live at peace. And the U.S should take a neutral stance in this conflict.
FallenPaladin 0 Posted June 17, 2003 Well, even when the Israelis hit their main target they kill lots of innocent civilians almost any time in the same strike. That`s not good for sure. If you go further and flip the coin to the other side that would mean the Palestinians were right if they killed high ranking Israelis. When the Israelis do that it`s justified, when the Palestinians do it it`s terror. I bet the Palestinians would kill less innocent Israeli civilians if they had the chance to reach one of the leading Israeli heads but they can`t. In contrast to the Israelis they have no tanks, choppers, fighter jets and so on. So they have to strike where they are able to and that`s in the streets and civilian areas of Israel. Col. Kurtz 0 Posted June 17, 2003 Israeli child killed and two wounded in ambush by Palestinian militants-BBC It's really going to be a struggle to get peace when things like this happen. How long until there's an Israeli Apache over the West Bank tasked with taking out some militants along with some bystanders? Or do you think they'll keep their hands in their pockets to keep the peace?

Bernadotte 0 Posted June 19, 2003 From an Israeli www-site: The green line is the West Bank border. The red line is where the wall is being built. Soon, the residents of the Palestinian town of Qalqiliya will have a view in every direction like this: If the wall is to protect Israel then why couldn't they build it on the green line? Â Because the wall is to protect those blue areas too - the Israeli settlements built in the West Bank.

Bernadotte 0 Posted June 20, 2003 well it´s an easy way to resize a state and set new borders. I understand what you're saying, but I have to disagree. Actually, it's a very difficult way to resize a state.  The easy way would have been to declare victory after the 6-Day war and take pocession of the new territories as was done after the 1948 war of independence. So why are the Israelis doing it the hard way?  It's because they want as the maximum amount of Palestinian land with the minimum number of Palestinians. Math Quiz: If the religion of a country's population is 78% A and 22% B how many years will it take for religion B to outnumber religion A, given the following: - The average A parents have 2.3 kids. - The average child-bearing age of an A parent is 28. - The average B parents have 4.7 kids. -  The average child-bearing age of a B parent is 23. Bernadotte 0 Posted June 20, 2003 Oh, yeah, you could always kill every palestinian man, woman and child. This would end the hostilities pretty fast. Population transfer would be more like it. population transfer....nice word for ethnic cleansing. your a rasist avon, your opinions are no different than what was circling around in the head of milosevic, hitler...and other "famous" characters. what happens to those who refuse to move, what happens if no neighboring country accepts them?..you throw them all into your "prison" in gaza?...will you simply shoot them?..would you care? They start a war, want us out of here, I suggest that if they can't stand us here they should go somewhere else and this is like Hitler and Milesovic. Tell me more when you're sober.
