Mister Frag 0 Posted April 2, 2002 Wobble, as an FYI, according do the BATF, you and your friends have a Destructive Device, the manufacture and possession of which is regulated by federal law: http://www.atf.treas.gov/regulations/27cfr179.pdf
Wobble 1 Posted April 2, 2002 bah.. you know that bastard plans on eathing whatever he's shooting at! PLEASE E-MAIL ME INSTRUCTIONS FOR BUILDING THIS!!!! im DLing illustrator now.. I have the orignal plans for it, ill post the pic (blueprint) we made for it.. its terrably simple.. Wobble, as an FYI, according do the BATF, you and your friends have a Destructive Device, the manufacture and possession of which is regulated by federal law: actually.. its considered a pneumatic potato gun, and as long as we dont shoot anything explosive... .. from it or transport it ASSEMBLED in public and do not fire it in public its ok to have it.. it comes apart (5 pieces) and when its dismantled.. it doesent look like anything more than a few pipes, a ball valve and an air compressor.. hardley illegal devices.. so we just have to break it down before moving it anywhere and not fire it on public land (state land) and we will be ok.. unless we hit somebody's house or car.. Joe Porta 0 Posted April 2, 2002 Is it just a varation of the Spud cannon?
Wobble 1 Posted April 2, 2002 laws concernting "potato" guns are kinda... iffy.. some comps will confiscate them, some wont.. etc etc.. its really a mattrer of what YOU do with it.. if your blasting away in the middle of your neighborhood it will be taken away.. but if yer out on some private property out of town.. in all actuallity you can pretty much do whatever you want and as long as its not too loud (annoy any neighbors) or makes a big fire.. nobody really cares.. the way the cops see it: there are far worse things a binch of 20 year olds could be doing aside from screwing around on their land with a big potato gun.. so why bother us.. Be careful where you use one of those things, some people are incredibly narrow-minded, and if the local prosecutor is so inclined, he may prosecute you for a felony, and you wind up being unable to vote, own firearms, or hold certain jobs. Mister Frag 0 Posted April 2, 2002 Wobble, since you live in Texas, your chances of getting away with it are much better than they would be in my neck of the woods. Heck, the local sheriff driving by may even stop to chat and get some pointers on how to build one instead of wanting to arrest you. Count your blessings! Wobble 1 Posted April 2, 2002 actually I know 2 sherrifs.. one is a total asswad and the other is like some vietnam vet gun nutt.. he is ALWAYS in Dons firearms (local gun shot) shooting the shit (no pun) he's cool, he wouldent bother me... the other guy though.. I dunno about him, I think he was a bottle fed butt baby..

USSoldier11B 0 Posted April 2, 2002 My roomate and I build a pretty good potato cannon. We like to shoot golf balls out of it. The thought of shooting can of concrete is just so much more appealing. I know tons of cops through my job and through my national guard unit. Most of them are perverted, demented, and like to blow shit up. They don't give me any problems. As for the BATF, it is a unconstitutional, qausi-Gestapo crap organization. NRA forever!!!
Joe Porta 0 Posted April 2, 2002 In 20 years time you can picture her breast feeding a child and filling an ammo belt at the same time. I wonder if she thinks the same way as USSoldier11b "True happeness is a belt fed weapon."
Wobble 1 Posted April 2, 2002 OK here is a link to the pic.. I couldent get it down to 100kb anf I dont want the placbo-cops getting me so im not hotlinking it.. its the orignal I came up with last summer.. http://www.netsnapshot.com/users...._18.jpg the biggest challenge REALLY is finding a good 300+ PSI ball valve, it must be made of steel or brass because in order to open it fast enough for the air to BLAST out.. you must tie a string to the end of the handle and yank it open insted of just twisting it.. this is stressfull to the valve we found ourse at the "shop" so I dont know the price.. get a good one though.. also the gun is VERY heavy.. mad out of steel pipe.. so transporting it is a BITCH.. we are altering a wheel barrow to mount it on to move it around "in the field" "charging" it (puttin in the air) takes about 2 min to get it up to 280PSI with our el-cheapo high comp compressor.. but a better one will do it faster.. another thing ya have to do thats semi tricky is moung the valve for letting air in... its the same kind as on your tires.. it hods up fine but you have to make the hole the PERFECT size so that is a VERY VERy tight fit.. and use much epoxy on BOTH sides (make usre ya dont block the hole though lol).. or the damn thing will blast out.. also VERY VERY important.. DO NOT STAND NEXT TO IT WHILE FILLING.. if that thing lets go.. and you are near it.. you migh get hurt.. only get near it AFTER its fully aired and make sure yer string is AT LEAST 10ft long so if the vlave fails and blows up when ya yank it you wont get injured (the valve is heave any wont fly far, even with that amount of pressure.. I had our valve blow off once at 225.. it shot about 6 feet.. it was undamaged, the threading on the cuplink was toasted though.. we didnt thread it enough.. dumb.. also youll notice 2 3/4 inch is a bit LARGER than a coke can.. this is so you can pus some "wadding" behind the can to make the fit more air tight.. we just use WET paper towell.. works fine.. P.S. I take no responsability if you cut someone in half with this thing..
Wobble 1 Posted April 2, 2002 also, if you dont have a powerful high compresson compressor making the air chamber (the part at the back) bigger will make it easier.. I dont know why but it does ???

Imagine Wobble with a gun - not a very pleasent thought I'm glad that it is much harder to get a gun licence in the EU. Here in Sweden, you have to be an active member of a gun club for at least six months (active = shoots at least twice a week). Before getting the license you have to pass a test ( minimum of 8/10 shots within 3 cm from 25 m distance). The first gun that you buy cannot be bigger then .22 . After another six months and another test you can buy any caliber. This is a good system I think. It reduces the access to weapons to serious people. Which in turn equals less guns for the criminals. The tests make sure that an individual that owns a gun really can use it, which I doubt is the case in the US. This equals less accidents.

In bigger cities it's almost impossible to get a gun license. Of course, you can get an illegal gun if you really want to, but I think that it is safer to walk out there, when most of the people are not armed.

Wobble 1 Posted April 2, 2002 when I turned 21 I took the TCHC class and test and got an Un-Restricted Permit.. meaning "Individual may carry any authorized handgun including a semi-automatic" I generally dont take my pistol out of the truck/car unless there is some strange reason... its nice to have.. though generally not necessary.. though general situations are not the ones that get you killed either.. oh well.. no ive never shot anyone.. and I hope I never do (that includes my self)
