topas 1 Posted April 8, 2010 Now that's a fine piece of letadlo, hehe.. Nice belly-view showing the supershaders ;) Looking forward to taking it for a spin! btw; is this based on Vit's MiG? 2years ago I was working on east german and polish versions of it that were to be included in the initial version of Project85-TC and kinda feel the shots shown are familiar..I may be mistaken though; in which case I'm sorry
norsu 180 Posted April 8, 2010 Nice Fulcrum there. However I would drastically tone down normal map effects for those metal plate seams. For example look at this photo here: Notice how all but the thickest seams are barely visible when sunlight catches the plane.

MAA 127 Posted April 8, 2010 @Norsu: thanx for tip.. It will be fixed asap ;) @topas: no, it is not based on Vit's Mig ;)
topas 1 Posted April 8, 2010 Thx Maa! I was mislead and came to this conclusion because of those overdone normal maps Norsu brought to our attention; the convert I worked on had almost identical ones; hence the mistake ;)
soul_assassin 1747 Posted April 8, 2010 yeh its a common thing to have a natural tendency to draw 1px lines for panel lines. The prob is that PS generated normal maps are 1px->3px (change of light) while on a real aircraft the panel gaps are barely a milimeter wide. So also in my opinion panel lines should be left out of normal maps yet should just feature prominently on diffuse texture..
MAA 127 Posted April 8, 2010 Original CO and NOHQ textures for this Mig are in 4096px and in that resolution panels looks OK, but when I reduce size of CO and NOHQ to 2048px then thin lines are too heavy and normals looks too rough :( I will reduce intensity of normal map to 5-10% and maybe it will looks better ;) P.S. those screenshots are taken only on normal settings in A2 so I think that textures are in 1024px only. DaSquade 0 Posted April 9, 2010 which one is real Those with the black painted noise cone are the 'fake' ones. The low poly shape of the cone was a dead give away :p. No offence offcourse, great work. But you asked... ->So as a possitive comment: Is it possible to give the cone an extra set of segment in lenght?
MAA 127 Posted April 9, 2010 @DaSquade: Mig-29 is still work-in-progress and first LOD will be completelly reworked and added more polys in near future ;)

DaSquade 0 Posted April 9, 2010 Ah ok. That is new to me (working your way up in res lods) but good to hear. Anyway, good job (beside the cone, it was acutally a bit hard to find the real one from that distance).
