This is worth checking out

Recommended Posts

I have been using gamebooster for a while and mainly just use it to defrag the game directiony for arma after changing beta patches.

This is worth doing every patch change/mods etc because everytime u install a beta the files get fragmented.

Its so quick and easy too and stops stutter if i ever get it

Sorry, I am still extremely skeptical. Reading their web sites gets all my red flags up.

None of the features listed on their site do anything to your performance (if you count your RAM in Gigabytes and not Megabytes) and have been proven to be irrelevant for quite some time. At best this is BS/snakeoil.

If it does something that they don't list on their site, I would be even more worried.

I my 20 years of being a PC power user, I have yet to see a single program that can boost a computers performance under normal conditions. Usually this is just noob scamming, and the fact that this program does not cost anything and is "advertised" a lot in forums does not make me feel better.

Ok..., you can take your opinion and go else where with it, because with that post, you're telling/calling everyone (including myself) a liar, & personally I dont have time to argue with people with opinions such as yourself. The link is out there for people to click, don't click it if you don't want to, noone is forcing you... BUT dont come into my thread down talking something you have yet to even try.

AND YES IT HAS BEEN PROOVEN TO HELP OUT YOUR PERFORMANCE, Where you get off telling us that it doesn't, ( WITH OUT EVEN TRYING IT) tells me that in your 20 years of exp. you are extremely dull.

Easy tiger, his opinion is just as valid as yours. Turning off non-essential services will help but only very slightly (in his experience, imperceptibly), defragmenting the game files will help but, again, only very slightly.

easy solution...don't use it

I definitely see an increase...now obviously it's not going to be some "magical" program that will make the most demanding games run on crappy hardware, and no one here is claiming that. But for me it gets rid of micro-stutters, games tend to play more stable, and adds a couple FPS here and there.

It just makes it easier to turn off background processes instead of digging thru your msconfig. Don't you think there's be a lot more "red flags" around the www if it wasn't legit??

I only use it to defragment after installing the betas and on other games that get updated with patches etc. Nothing else

It stopped stutter once when my game was heavily fragmented

So not a bad little program

Wrong, his opinion of the product is not valid, because with out actually testing the product you can not give results, therefore his point is null.

DUDE, you got to calm down, seriously. I have not attacked you personally, just have my own thoughts about the magic program you posted that claims to to some really amazing stuff ("gives more CPU and RAM to your games" - lets see, how exactly is that supposed to work? ).

Your typical 32 bit game (including Arma 2) can in any case only address 2GB in total, no matter how much you "clean up" your RAM.

On the other hand, installing some magic program that promises some amazing stuff but does not explain how is negligent at best, at least in my view, and yours might differ. This company seems to got caught with its pants down on unethical business practices, and just because they now claim "It wasn't me" on their own blog does not automatically clear them off the serious evidence presented. But hey, thats just me.

Besides the above, lets assume all the software does is disabling some windows services. Ok. Disabling services does not generate any perceivable benefits on any half way modern (and healthy) system, this has been discussed over and over. I have not found a single review of this program that would prove any effect by posting any benchmarks (but I stopped looking on google page 10, I admit). Why is that? It is no surprise, though, because no other program that claimed the same in the past has passed any professional benchmark review neither, so nothing new here.

Have a look here or here or here for starters.

The program itself claims that its "best part" is that "It's 100% free and safe!". That's at least something. But hey, to each his own. At least - I quote from their website - "Its intuitive interface makes Game Booster the perfect tool for complete computer dummies." -> Enough said. Peace. :yay:

Ok, heres what I made from your long response.

Yes, Drew. You are indeed correct about me not trying this product out, nor do I know what I am talking about. Because IF I understood what I was talking about I would clearly understand what this product does, (If I had bothered reading the 10 pages of rubbish, I would have figured out that the product shuts off unnecessary services with the simple click of a button, instead of going through each process and terminating it manually, very magical indeed!

@Drew you need to be less defensive m8... qwertz did not attack you but voiced his opinion and experience of the type of util you are promoting.

We are all allowed to have an opinion and I have to say qwertz has already gained huge respect on these forums with very useful utils he has developed for A2 diagnostics and analysis.

we can all choose to use or not to use.

If you really want to improve performance, format and reinstall windows or buy another stick of ram. Its the only solution. Turning off processes does fuck all.

Haven't used it but wouldn't it be pretty annoying to have to open the program before opening the game (rather than making a .bat file)? Otherwise it seems like a good option for PC newbies.

I got ARMA2 installed alone on my pc. Dont need programs to turn off progresses i already turned off by hand right after windows was installed.

Works for systems with loads of crap installed though im sure.

EDIT:

And for the record, i'd take Quertz opinion over many others in here. Just look what he's done when it comes to HW and ARMA2. And i have the same experience with programs like these. Never got me anything. And i for many years worked with computers, and went through IT-university. I guess the reason it never done anything for me is because i kept my computers very clean & light.

Like i said though. Im sure some of those progs work for people that doesnt know much about pc's. For those that doesnt know what to turn off themselves etc. So there can probably be some good come out of it. But be sure it doesnt install more than it fixes.

Im in the same situation as Alex72. I keep my OS streamlined and clean on my gaming-pc. I have never seen any boosts on program like this. I was however curious on this program as quite a few of you reported a boost. But then again I know from experience that it doesnt help me, I have most services shut of anyway + I defrag using perfectdisk and so on.

The input from qwertz is very good. He never claim that anyone is wrong, but he gave me some things to read that made me change my mind trying it.

First reason, Im very sure it doesnt help me because of my setup.

Second reason, that chinese company seems fishy. Im not that afraid of installing it, but I wont do it just to try it if I dont believe I will get a boost.

Drew you shouldnt be so defensive about valid input, its not a personal attack on you.

I thank you for the headsup. Im sure many users will benefit from this, and its easy to read that many already have. And thats good.

Isnt it better to know how hardware + windows + software works instead of relying on those countless "magic turbo-mega-booster-tools"?
