Hi Icebreakr

I love this map, especially for MSO sessions. The big issue for me though has always been that Alice 2 does not spawn African civilians on their own (there is a mix of Africans and Euros) which is not so good for immersion. This is true even if you try to force CIV_AFR through the Alice mainscope.

I altered the isladuala.pbo config so that demography[] = {"CIV_AFR",1}; for each of the defined city areas. Alice 2 now correctly spawns only African civilians.

Would you consider rolling this change into the pbo?

I think I can do that. Reason I've included Euro folks is because I have no woman models for Dualans.

Hi, I have spent the weekend making this:

It is a combination of IceBreakr's Rebels and IceWindo's port of the Sahrani civs http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9849 . There are also a number of new Infantry groups and Motorized units & groups. I have also altered the config for the Afrenian civilians so that it contains all these models too. So I guess both Rebels and Civs now contain about 30 individual units each. This makes a huge difference to immersion as you don't see the units repeat so often. The addition of the Motorized groups also makes the Rebels a more substantial Opfor.

Additionally I have altered the demography for the cities to AFR_CIV as mentioned above, so Alice 2 only spawns African civs. A busy Bolabongo with varied civs is a sight to behold!

I made it for my own use (I only play single player) but would happily pass it over to Icebreakr if he would be interested in releasing it?

Sure, send it to my email plz (see website in sig - click About) and I'll try to clear it up with IceWindo regarding permissions. Also state what to put in credits. Hopefully its not couple of 100megs?

Thanks Icebreakr, I'll tidy it up a little (remove Ace weapons) and send it over this week. It's only the ibr_acivilians.pbo so I guess it's 6MB or so.

It's not just 6MB, because he'd have to include -> http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9849 as well for your addon to work, so ~23MB.

Yes, crucial word missing, I meant 6MB or so extra :). Only adds IceWindo's p3ds , so it's those plus the contents of the original civilians pbo. The Sahrani civs are a dependancy for the paas.

Err, my civs *ARE* sahrani civs, so I don't know why did you do that. IceWindo supplied them for the project.

Yes I could reduce the changes down to file paths to the Sahrani mod for the p3ds and the paas, that would maybe be better.

Chaingunfigher: we have them ready for separate release, but internal team is experiencing some problems with comm. So please please wait until that is resolved. U can use older 1.95 release with old aliens for a temporary choice.

Awesome, when I posted this I was just having some trouble finding the old release. Glad to hear that they are being remade, as the previous one have some problems, but it was still fun to use them.

forgive me if this has been asked but how can i spawn Duala civilians using ALICE2 ?

you could take this approach:

or you could de-pbo the map and change the location configs to demography[] = {"CIV_AFR",1}; this is a lot less work, and means the areas and neighbours are defined, but not multiplayer friendly as you will have changed the pbo

IceBreakr: I found to shadow glitch on Duala. There are some building with very annoying shadow error. One is at Kirabo (west side) - it's a store building. And the other at the middle of the map, at the border crossing point at Southern side of the border.

U have a screenshot? Make sure you're not using ibr_plants addon from Lingor, its an old one.

Phenomenal work again IceBreakr, you've inspired me to start again!

Do people play any missions with the Zetaborn (of 1.95)? I'm looking for some good online co-op missions and people to play with, any suggestions would be welcome. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Duala 1.97 plays!

I don't know what I use. I download the Duala from armacholic. But it's not a plant, it's a building. And this is not OS, videocard or driver issue, because my friends saw the same shadow as me, but they have different Windows and different videocards.

I find the ibr_plants file in the addon folder with a sign named: ibr_plants.pbo.ibr_duala197.bisign

Is it the old Lingor plant? If I delete it, solved the problem?

Its a well known bug. Its a default building hut_old.p3d, but this glitch only appears on Shadow setting "Normal". Switch to High or Very High to get it removed.

I've reported that issue on official tracker around 3 years ago, but it didn't get fixed (yet) ;)
