Is the 1.04 worth it for SP? Enjoying the No Cd beta's

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has noticed enough of an improvement in performance and bug repairs to warrant putting the 1.04 patch on right now. The change log seems to be all multi-player and campaign/scenario related.

I'm enjoying the no-cd aspect of the beta patches , custom downloaded scenarios and the editor. I don't relish going back to hunting for the disc and putting it in the drive every time I want to play.

It fixed my mouse smoothing problem so it's a go for me.

Also, the -cpucount switch for the command line has smoothed out the FPS for me.

I play exclusively SP and would recommend it to you.

Not to hijack the thread, but Mav, what do you have your -cpucount set to if you don't mind telling me? I have the same cpu as you and I wanna see if I can smoothe out the fps a little more.

Then stick to the beta patch. :D

You must be kiddin' though. What kind of an inhuman fatigue can it be inserting a CD in your drive?

What kind of an inhuman fatigue can it be inserting a CD

FPS by Fraps:

1.03Beta 58899- 21-28 almost no lags NO CD ! - i mean fluent gameplay

1.03 - 17-23 but often lags 9 fps :/

1.04 - 20-23 but often lags 9-15 fps :/

thanx god - it works on beta after patch :)

securom eats your memory and cpu

test scene - Czernogorsk/forest and 3 teams of soldiers, all high except terrain, visibility 1600, 1280*1024, 100% fill

and also i should say about scratching disc when inserted, because of Arma1 securom i cannot instal Arma1 , cause disc is too scratched to instal (i have new HDD)

I set mine to 4. Not sure if this is supposed to be a value, but 4 seems to have made a difference to me. I haven't done any real testing using FRAPS and only played about 30 minutes with 1.04.

It's not fatigue - it's the annoying task of trying to find the damn thing buried somewhere under a pile of papers (or did I put it in the desk drawer) every time I want to play ArmA2. :p

So, if I use a No-CD my game may run smoother? Interesting...my DVD would be saved too =)

I think he's talking about the beta patches released by BI that intentionally have no CD-check. Not a crack. Also as they will probably continue to release beta patches, you should get all the latest features up to and beyond 1.04, so for single-player, I don't see why bother to stop using beta.

Yes All I reall play is Mp Co-op with my friend in SP, get this patch ARMA 2 is way more stable now and mouse smoothing makes it alot easier to aim accurate fast.

I've been getting around a solid 30FPS now forest and in the cities.

With 1.03 my frame rate was very unstable went from 30FPS to 20 FPS in a snap when I zoomed in on an object.

Great job BIS keep up those patches and give us some more graphical options in the next patch like Low shadows, Less Dense trees etc and keep optimizing your RV3 engine more!!

I have not had the keyboard problem yet so lets hope it doesnt happen and no other game breaking issues or new glitches have been found. :)
