OFP Addon request thread

Weird question but does anyone know if the mod name "Modern War Crisis" is already taken?

That's the provisional name of a Call Of Duty style total conversion I've made. If it's already taken then how about "Modern Warfare Crisis"? Which would be my second choice.

Any other suggestions for a name for the mod?

someone knows great bunkers? I have already MCM44's bunkers, + bunkers from the GFX team. I have also the Mapfact's bunkers, but they have problems (the doors don't work). i have also bunkers from Awol, but they have tons of problems. ideas?

hi,

I search a dog addon. I know there's alleady one http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=5222 but it is not compatible with WW4 animations and it is an early beta. If an experienced animator could finish the animation (sit down, prone, crouch...) and make it compatible with WW4 it would be very nice.

Yes you're right. I tried to contact the addon maker but his e-mail adress is not active anymore. Maybe write in the readme that you were not able to contact the addon maker and all credits go to him.

It is also written on the readme: "The model and textures are 100% downloaded, they are not my own work and i am not taking credit for them. Please suport the creator by going to his website http://xu1productions.com"

I tried to go on the website to contact the guy who made the model and textures to see if it's free to use/edit but it's down.

I'm looking for some large enterable buildings. The important thing is they have multiple rooms and any extra floors be connected by (working) stairs rather than ladders.

Multiple floors would be nice but not necessary I'm just trying to get a large, realistic building that would be good for multiplayer maps. So office buildings, malls, apartment blocks, schools, hospitals anything with a lot of rooms to clear.

Can anyone think of some addon packs? Or just their favorite non-BIS enterable building.

I know they're not made yet, or available, but I would like someone to make these models (on buildings, preferably 'enter-able', but not required. Just need an 'effect', so long as someone can teach me to script 'artillery' strikes.

Nuke strikes aren't needed as we already have nukes available as addons.

Aircraft carrier is not needed, have Nimitz available to download and launch GDI craft from.

Mammoth Tank not needed. We have one, it will be a separate download since I doubt I can obtain 'permission' to add it into a .rar file with my eventual pack.

If I can churn out reskins of already made vehicles/infantry, that's about half of the work right there. Most of what I linked are buildings and defenses, with only one or two vehicles and maybe a couple infantry models I'd like re-created (with higher quality), but I can do most of the work. I'm working on the basic GDI 'Minigunner/Rifleman' right now and will make Nod's minigunner after that and go through the classes. Will try and make them high-quality and have different gear and then make it where you can plop them down in groups. GDI - West/Resistance. Nod - East/Resistance. Eventually will include the Forgotten - Resistance and Scrin - Resistance/East. Also will make units available to both GDI and Nod, under (Captured), but I don't want to get ahead of myself yet.

The really, really complicated stuff will really come in when I get to Tiberian Sun and Tiberium Wars, most CNC based mods die off unfortunately...this is why I'm starting with the easiest era, The First Tiberium War, aka Tiberian Dawn, as most of it is modern equipment.

This is why I'm starting with the First Tiberium War, because it takes place from 1995-2002. As I said before, I can do most of the work myself (I will ask for assistance where needed, such as the models I requested up top there, or if I have unit problems). I am going to take it slow, pace myself, so that I am not overwhelming myself, but I wanted to get that request for the units up top there so that people know. Once I get my first unit made proper, I will make my own 'CNC Addons' thread. I want to make everything as high quality as possible, but still optimized for people who get a bit of lag with lots of units on the field. For infantry, I will do the main 'premiered' camouflage schemes featured in cutscenes, but I will also do camouflage that SHOULD be used in certain environments. I do plan to go all out and in-depth with details. Should anyone like to help, send me a PM, so that this topic isn't spammed with 'recruitment', as this thread isn't for that, but for addon requests. :) And I already made my request, so I shall take my leave for now.

Most of those deal with Tiberian Sun (C&C2 if you think about it that way), save for the CNC95 Harvesters by Stu and the Mammoth Tank conversion from Renegade by SilverHawk (which I have and will likely keep as separate links and have those as something someone would download if I do any missions based on CNC). The mod I'm going to be working on is based in 1995-2002 (Tiberian Dawn). Thanks for that, though. It's a shame most CNC mods go under. :/

I have a question for you, guys. I know the Cold War Crisis and Resistance campaigns have been remade in ArmA I and II by fans, but seeing as OFP/ArmA 0 has the Red Hammer campaign which hasn't been remade (and I know why) I figured I'd play the OG game. I do have a few questions, however. I tend to play ArmA I and II primarily with ACE and JTD, and I don't think ACE exists for this game. To my understanding, ACE for ArmA was a successor to a mod for OFP. What mod was that? And if not, what mods are as close as possible to the types of mods I'm comfortable with in later games? I can handle if the mods aren't as authentic, seeing as it's a much older game compared to ArmA II.

That would be WGL. Other MODS would be different versions of FFUR, SLX and others.

I see. What limitations does WGL have compared to ACE offhand? Is stamina fatigue a mechanic in ArmA 0 with WGL like how it is in ArmA I and II? Also, are there any good audio/visual mods for the game, too? I know ACE 2 actually updated a number of the character models and has an entire soundpack to replace many sounds (though I'm unsure if it's better than JSRS) but I figure pre-ArmA II these were all separate types of mods.

And one final thing, but it's more about the game itself. I assume WGL tampers with the AI as well, but does the game actually have an option for sliders like ArmA I and II do for difficulty?

EDIT: Seeing as I solved the issue I had running it, I'll remove those edits but I do have a question. As WGL was the precursor to ACE, is it in turn the most realistic mod for ArmA 0? Or would FFUR be? That seems to have been more updated and like ACE, it offers but visual, audio, and AI improvements to my understanding.

Comparing ACE with any OFP mod is fairly useless, no mod was ever as dominant (popular) in OFP as ACE is in ArmA modding. Imo this was largely because of the far greater "competition" with many more large scale mods being developed with a reasonable chance of releasing. The diversity of mod subjects was also much better imo. You could think up a subject like an area of the world or even a specific was and there could well be a mod about it.

Base WGL is more about realistic gameplay (enhancements and totally new elements), although there are model + texture replacement packs IIRC (never used any myself). A lot of these mods have had external replacement packs created which are not listed, as well as other types of enhancement and replacements mods like sound mods.

- FlashFX: Special effects mostly;

- FFUR: Replacements with new effects and some new features. There are many different version like 1985 era, modern, winter, desert etc but released over a number of years so the quality varies;

- SLX: Effects and enhancements mostly meant for upgrading the feeling of the original game concept. Some people created created their own versions from base SLX;

- FFSX: Combination of FFUR and SLX also called FFUR/SLX. My favorite one along with WW4 overall although it can be a bit of a system hog;

- WW4: Effects, animations and replacement units based on reality but not representing specific real life units. The only one out of the list that is still being developed;
